Hello there guys... wave.gif

The purpose of this thread is to voice out something that I've been wondering for quite some time. Simple research via Google gave me mixed results on foreign forum pages so I decided to post here to ask you fellow kaki ICE-ers... tongue.gif

Anyway, do bear with my curiosity and please take note that I'm not taking brands or any specific model of speakers into account.

So we all know about component speakers, coaxials and the other multi-way speakers and yada yada...

Now, assuming that someone wants to upgrade his/her speaker sets but do not want to go for a full blown component but wanting to experience the "feel" of having a component, would adding a tweeter with a passive crossover (salvaged/taken/stolen/whateversourceitcamefrom from a component set) that runs parallel with the coaxial do the job..? hmm.gif
Which makes that 2 tweeters (1 separate on dashboard + 1 from coaxial itself) and the midbass driver itself. hmm.gif

So.... whistling.gif What say you~? unsure.gif

Some reference sources which I've lurked upon around here.

is it even practical to do that ?
why not just fit on a set of component ?

Well, it's just something that I've been wondering... hmm.gif

Come on, cut me some slack... I'm just posting a question which I want a straightforward answer to it... icon_question.gif

Comps always > coax (+ tweets). Assuming comparing equipment of equal quality.
A lot of ppl are happy with a lot of diff setups, so there's no minimum.
If you're happy, you should stop.
Whats you question again?

Basically it will work. its juz like replacing a midbass of a comp with coax. but how it sounds is the main question.

I guess you just answered what I was asking already.. tongue.gif

My question is this, if the original above is a bit confusing.

Would a coaxial + tweeter be comparable with a dedicated component speaker.?

Gotta agree with you on it being subjective to personal preference though. hmm.gif

No pun intended biggrin.gif
There is always this issue with impedance when adding speakers.
Of course if ur speakers can handle the extra power with the lower impedance load . . . .

I also always wondered how it would sound like if i can install a 3-way 6x9" coaxials on the front dashboard thumbup.gif
people always say components sounds better, but a good 6x9" sounds pretty good to me and it can blast a lot better bass than 6 inchers biggrin.gif

No worries... tongue.gif

Deffo there's always the difference in the ohm readings and other factors that come into play...

That's why I mentioned from the start to ignore the brands and specific model of speakers as to assume all are the same.

Hmm, but aftermarket 6x9 usually give less lows compared to those that come factory fitted, no~? From what I've read on other forums they're a tad harder to drive using stock HU. hmm.gif Well, that's what I've got from my research via Google when trying to find info regarding stock vs aftermarket 6x9s...
