QUOTE(KronenZerg @ Apr 9 2013, 09:25 PM) Confuse.. Some said our ip5 is not LTE compatible, some say yes... Some said our phone needs to activate it, some said if u r 3G it wud auto switch to LTE.. Can someone help to clarify.. Hrm... Let me try.1. Ip5 for msia set is using LTE band 1, 3 and 5. Band 3 is 1800 MHz. In Msia, current LTE frequency available was 2600 MHz. Band 1 and 5 isn't 2600 MHz 2. Recently Maxis got the green light from MCMC on the LTE spectrum on 1800 MHz, which is band 3. 3. So Maxis can now launch LTE for iP5. 4. To enable LTE, there is an carrier update needed. After update, you will get carrier Maxis 14.1 version. This update will change your previous setting, which is "Enable 3G" to "Enable LTE" for iP5, and ipad lte i suppose. 5. LTE is basically a data network. It will mainly stay in LTE, until someone calls you, it will quickly switch back to 3G to use back on the voice network. Cheers. |

QUOTE(stevenlee @ Apr 9 2013, 09:54 PM) Yeah.. Last time alot complain ip5 cannot lte in malaysia... What a suprise move by maxis, they manage to roll it out without even any new leak out from inside regarding on this news Yea, Im very surprised too. I just got my phone not long, and I was actually checking if LTE is now usable for ip5. I got a lil butthurt when I found out, still not possible. That was 2 weeks ago. Then today, a friend posted a pic on the LTE switch option. Instantly found out, it is now here... Really pleasant surprise from Maxis. And I subscribed to data plan above 1gb. So the LTE is already enabled by default for my plan.Though, one observation from me is, the battery seems to drop a tad bit faster. From 61% at 7:30 to 37% at 10:15pm. |

QUOTE(KronenZerg @ Apr 9 2013, 11:31 PM) Thks for the clarification. I believe that the sequence is as follow:If there is no LTE signal, will it goes back to 3G or Edge/No signal? We know that Maxis 3G, when goes missing .. it would not spring back up to detect 3G .. will LTE has the same failure condition? LTE > 3G > Edge > GPRS ? Basically, if no strong LTE signal is detected, it will fall back to 3G. And similarly, if 3G signal is weaker than Edge, it will fall back to Edge. Just that for now, we no longer can control if we want 3G or Edge as that Enable 3G button is no longer available. So far, I have no problems with the auto switching of 3G to LTE and from LTE to 3G. One easy way you can test is when making calls. When you are making a call, your phone will seamlessly change from LTE to 3G. Once done, it will again seamlessly switch back to LTE from 3G. Did that a few times for testing. |

Hello guys... something funny with LTE. I don't know if you guys noticed this but... I left my phone in LTE and went to bed. The next morning when Im awake, usually the battery percentage would have drop like 3-4% for 3G. But for LTE, check out the pic... Amazing!

QUOTE(christcwl9 @ Apr 10 2013, 09:46 AM) But i cant get Edge signal even with just 1 bar 3G >.< My phone keep stuck at 3G. It will only drop back to 2G awhile when im on call, then immediately after call, it turns back to 3G @ 1bar Then this is really sad lor... Time to google how US or EU force change to certain network mode.. And from your report, could be they programmed such that to stay on 3G, then if no 3G only switch back to 2G. But can you imagine the battery life being drained? Since the 3G signal is weaker, it keeps trying to search more? |

QUOTE(christcwl9 @ Apr 10 2013, 10:26 AM) Guys, this is our Carrier issue. What we can do now is to email Maxis and have them listen to us. I have already sent Maxis an email regarding this in hope that they will change the toggle LTE button priority to both 3G and 4G, meaning that if you toggle on LTE, it means it will auto be in 3G when LTE is not widely available. Hrm, what I would prefer is, if the user select OFF on the LTE toggle, another option appears which is toggle between 2G/3G... lolWhen the LTE toggle is off, Maxis will auto assign 2G network for our iphone just like the previous carrier setting does. I really hope Maxis customer service will reply me soon and im eager to know how they will react towards this issue. |

QUOTE(deric79k @ Apr 10 2013, 11:34 PM) Well, RM75 for 5GB now, not too far behind. I tested LTE indoor in some shop houses at desa hartamas. Ground floor, becomes 3G. Go up 3rd floor get 3 bars LTE. However, I tried streaming internet radio, 128kbps... still buffers =__=. Change stream to 48kbps, also buffers. Doesn't seem that stable yet... |

Hrm.. Start to notice something unpleasant... LTE now would once a while drop back to 3G by itself, even if i dont get any calls or sms... Yikes.
If I switch to airplane mode, and switch back normal mode, it will change to 3G first then after few seconds auto switch to LTE... This post has been edited by kaspersky-fan: Apr 13 2013, 02:48 PM |

QUOTE(sigheart @ Apr 15 2013, 02:09 PM) Haha see how clever you are at covering up la that one I was using a very slow android phone before I switched to ip5. It was so slow, that the cellular traffic would just hang, and I need to reset the connection. My whatsapp and fb push notification all got stuck and I never knew until Im connected to wifi, lol. All in, I didnt use above 500mb a day. Lol. Now, since on ip5, Im using 2.5 gb in 2 weeks... Lol.Yeah heard Celcom gonna launch soon, but honestly nothing great la, difference in speed only. Will be really nice for those with high quota package. I used up close to 500 mb in 2 days and all I did was FB, whatsapp, insta, games and the occasional web surf. But my LTE was on all the time though. Luckily I checked otherwise my 2 GB quota would've been wiped out in less than a week. |
