something to share with you guys...

the situation is like this... my house area is with low 3G coverage (happy garden, kuchai lama) and previously i tend to toggle off 3G and Data toggle remain on. Yes, it saves battery...

but when the 3G toggle and Data toggle is ON, the network automatically switch back to Edge doesn't help you to save any battery because your phone will keep on searching for a 3G network (even 1bar like christcwl9 said)

to my conclusion, with the latest carrier update... u can't stop battery drainage already even thou it drops automatically from 3G to Edge... maybe there is a jbtweak that can force the phone permanently on Edge only? LOL...

by the way, no LTE connection around Happy Garden.. (although maxis claimed there is a coverage... zzz)

yeap .. before this people complain about the phone swithcing to other data and some even complain the phone very hard to get 3G line... with this update, it might please some of the maxis user here..

however,, i am more on the average user... will only switch to 3G when want to reply iimportant mail , sending mail.. download huge attachments for working purposes or assignment and FB of coruse..

the rest, i will switch up to Edge.. for whatsapp..

it would be nice if we can toggle between 2G and 3G.. so that we can have an option to choose..  smile.gif

apple won't listen our request for this as only Malaysia users facing this problem... while other countries have brilliant LTE or at least 3G infrastructure...
Apple not likely will release another extra toggle for the 2G connection... u can pray for a jbtweak IMO hmm.gif

christcwl9 do you mind to give me the maxis email?

from my understanding, the carrier setting is actually pushed by Apple and not Maxis... most likely Maxis can't do anything unless they do a revamp on their network which i don't know how ... LOL

Thanks for sharing, but has anyone tested out the speed in bandar sunway or nearby sunway pyramid? Or simply just maxis hasn't activated it yet?
*
my fren tested out in sunway pyramid and it's work...
actually my phone still not detect any LTE in the maxis coverage area as well... don't know whats the problem sad.gif

I'm on iValue Simple plan and never get the LTE signal before even when i'm in an area with LTE coverage. Called Maxis and was told no LTE support for this plan because our data plan is just 1GB (Free). Anyone can confirm this?
*
i did not get any LTE as well and i'm with iValue Simple plan... it sounds a bit unfair?
we are still using 1GB data like the requirement mar doh.gif

no worries, i'm pretty sure it iValue Simple will get to use LTE in the future... but don't know when lol

my colleague got LTE but mine don't sad.gif

carrier settings updated, IOS 6.1.3. restarted, reset network settings still same.. sigh
*
are you using iValue Simple? i am this plan user too...

i'm trying to sort things out...
i get to know from maxis saying that iValue Simple is entitled for LTE, but the service will be assign to nano-sim by the batch number...

for example, currently it will be batch with serial 010 and 020 to get the LTE first... while if u r in the batch of 030, then u have to patiently wait for a while hmm.gif
come to conclusion, not every nano sim/iphone 5 will get LTE due to maxis want to avoid overloading on their LTE network...

so maybe i'm the one in 3rd batch sim or even later.... icon_question.gif

I don't really agree with you. Two of my friends signed up the same package, same day & one of them hv got the LTE since the first day when LTE launched. The other one friend still waiting to get the LTE signal for more than 3 days already.
*
yes u can disagree with me... that is what i get from maxis...

reason being is most likely your fren sim is still not LTE activated yet... hmmm sad.gif
btw, i'm in the same shoes with your fren whistling.gif

Yes, iValue simple plan user here.. Dont listen to maxis customer service.. SIM card change and everything has done.. They just don't give LTE to those with cheaper plan, that's it!

Nvm, I believe that we will still get the LTE when this network more well established.. Just matter on time, I still can live with 3G .. Cukup makan still..

i know its enough for 3g

but its unfair as we pay the same but we dont get the same services.
*
What to do? I placed my fren iPhone 5 side by side with mine in the coverage area.. He get the LTE network while I can't.. Another fren also able to get that network on his iPhone 5.. The only different thing btw us is the plan that we subscribe...

It is quiet clear cut now so why not just bare with it instead of getting mad.. Even make noise also no use cos Malaysia consumer regulation is not really pro-consumer like other countries.. Keep calm and wait for LTE.. Zzz

forget it if it is still ivalue simple plan...

just bare with 3G for a while... nothing much can do already...
maybe they wan to cap down the usage in order to avoid network heavy traffic or overload sweat.gif
