you are 1.0 player. you get ARR for free, right?

so there's no risk for you even if the game sucks later.

Here is a post from Producer/Director to update you on the status of fixes for the PS3 version.

QUOTE
Producer and Director Yoshi-P here.
Thank you all for participating in the third phase of the beta test.
The third test of phase 3 will start on 6/28 at 2:00 a.m. (PDT), and I have another special request for our PlayStation 3 testers.

First, here are a few fixes that have gone in for the PS3 version.
1. A fix for memory leaks which caused the client to lock up.
2. A fix for the game locking up when opening and closing the journal.
3. A fix for the log window to improve memory management.
4. Adjustments have been made to the display priority of chocobos and minions.

The first three fixes address memory and UI issues which were the primary cause of the game locking up in last week's test. With regards to the fix for the journal, although we were unable to reproduce this problem after implementing the fix, we ask that players submit detailed reports describing what they were doing should the game lock up for any reason.

As I mentioned before, we're still working to optimize loading times in preparation for launch.

Our change to the display of chocobos and minions was based on the feedback we've received so far. Please be sure to check these changes in game and tell us what you think.

We're still fixing plenty of bugs shared between the PC and PS3 versions, but the four points noted above are of particular importance during this weekend's testing.

Also, we're conducting tests of the connection between the client and servers to confirm if error 90000 can still be reproduced.

We look forward to your feedback and hope you all have fun!

hey all, is the targeting system in ps3 a problem?
*
at first it will be a bit confusing, but once you get use to it, there is no problem.

there is also filters you can set to the targeting system. for example, if you are healer you can set the targeting system so that it only targets the players in your party & not monsters.

Letter from the Producer, XLVII (07/02/2013)

QUOTE
Hello again to all of you eagerly awaiting FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Yoshi-P here, bringing you the forty-seventh Letter from the Producer!

I hope everyone who's been accepted into the beta has been enjoying themselves so far. The team is carefully reading over all your feedback, verifying and squashing urgent bugs. We've received many critical reports for the PlayStation 3 version, in particular, and they've all been resolved without incident.

Now that we're halfway through phase 3, all that's left is to stress test the duty finder, and to monitor server stability over a long period. It won't be long until phase 4, early access, and the big day arrive, so the team is really giving it their all.

It's been hectic preparing for release, but I've managed to sneak in a little anonymous game time during phase 3 as well. This past weekend I was playing as a conjurer, partying with random players to collect gear from the dungeons. No matter how many runs I did though, not a single robe dropped. But then, on my last run, the robe I'd been waiting for finally appeared in the loot list! Needless to say, I lotted on it right away—but then the thaumaturge lotted and won by two points. It was all I could do to type "Congrats!" while biting back my tears.

Anyway, let's put those unfortunate events behind us. Now that the latest testing period has ended, I'll be heading to Paris for this year's Japan Expo. Not only will I be giving a presentation on FFXIV: ARR, but I'll also be doing interviews with a number of media outlets. My schedule's looking more hectic by the minute.

As producer and director, things will only get tougher from here on out. As much as I hate riding those metallic nightmares they call airplanes, I think I can muster up the courage if it means meeting all of our fans in Europe.
(That's not to say our North American and Japanese fans aren't important too. )

And with that, I'm off to Europe. See you soon!

Square Enix just released two new videos of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, that will be released on PC and PS3 on August the 27th and on PS4 next year.

The first trailer showcases a seven minute-long tour of the world of Eorzea, putting beautiful vistas from the PC version in comparison with the PS3 version. The second stars Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida and Community Manager Toshio Murouchi as they explain the Duty Finder, which is the game’s own version of a cross server group finder.

We already knew that Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will have a costume themed on the gear of the Miqo’te race from Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and FFXIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida promised that he’d think about a way to “return the favor”. Today, during a special stage event at Japan Expo in Paris he did just that, announcing that the upcoming MMORPG will include a special questline that will star Lightning herself.

That’s not all, as female characters will be able to wear Lightning’s costume, while males will get their hands on Snow’s. Several weapons from Final Fantasy XIII will also make an appearance.

when the beta goes to phase 4 next month, it will be open to everyone.

you might want to try it out for yourself during that time.

if there are no critical problems with the game, your character & progress will be carried over when the game launches.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Test HotFixes (Jul. 4)
We have resolved the issues listed below.

-Cases where the server will go down when logging out or forcing quit.
-Cases where the server will go down during specific circumstances relating to Guildleve.
-The screen will freeze and be unable to proceed.(Only in PlayStation3 version)
*We are resolving the certain situations that we were able to confirm.
-When logging in again within an instance, the chat for Linkshell/Free Company cannot be done properly.
-When the party leader is the first to leave during an instance, the Limit Break Gauge for the party leader remains, and Limit Break is possible.
-When on a Chocobo Porter and when the player goes into an instance dungeon because of a party member, the use of Actions and Battle cannot be preformed properly.

i think i screwed my beta up.

downloaded client from uk psn but did registration on that (UK) user account; however i put in my details, emails etc of my primary psn account, "fiendish_loki". (thought since it was asking me for primary acc info, didn't matter if i registered while playing on a diff account)

now when i use my primary psn it asks me to link an account again and when i put in my primary acc details, it says that user has been linked already.

the result is i can still play the beta on the UK account but can't using my primary account.

since phase 3 se & sen accounts unlink after phase 3, am i in the clear?

worried that it will affect me when i buy the game and my primary psn id is already taken.

any thoughts?
*
I already post the info about account unlinking on page 21 with this week's test schedule.

will be using ps3 until 2015 kua. hehe.
you mean this one? yup, saw it first time. just wanna get reassurance on what it means smile.gif
therefore my primary account will be unlinked and 'free' after phase 3?

that's what i understand from it.
*
that is correct. once phase 3 ends, your SE account will be unlinked from your PSN account.

i already got my ps3 code but i find it amusing that the so called open beta is not really open to the public.

people who took part in the last phase are automatically in but everyone else have to register for the "open" beta. whistling.gif

fyi, the latest beta client is actually the same client as the full game that is available to pre-order on US PSN.
