Anyone can share your experience on kernel wipe? flashed latest RR and having some random freeze so i planning to wipe everything and reinstall.

used kernel wipe.. basically it just wipes off ever kernel files so when u flash its like a "fresh" kernel.. wont be interfered with old kernel files..

what kernel did u flash?

a printscreen would help you elaborate more of your issue..

guys, i m trying to update jellybean via ODIN but well, i couldnt even enter the download mode, it said pressing vol down+home button while pressing power button but it still doesnt enter the download mode. it will jus turn on as usual. duh

i will only able to see it after i release the power button. fuh

i try to search any link regarding jelly bean in first page, cannot find any, guess, i need to go to sammobile then..btw, jelly bean for france 4.1.2 for s2 G version...is it full wipe or not full wipe..?

if you're upgrading from stock ICS then need full wipe
if you're upgrading from another custom ROM also need full wipe..

so basically need full wipe

because b4 this, when i update my note thru odin, i never full wipe, juz str8 away select tar file, then update...so still need to full wipe? or is it recommended to full wipe? btw, i'm helping my bro to upgrade his fon, i'm using gnex...

can anyone with a touchwiz rom try to add in the AOSP contacts.apk, contactsprovider.apk and dialer.apk into your touchwiz ROM and see if it works? :S

push to system/apps/
set permissions rw-r-r
reboot

geezzz, i dun want to full wipe...isnt the full wipe thing can cause brick thing or something as far as i can recall when they updated the note n s2 to ics rom..is it still happen..or juz affected only non g version which use exynos processor..

full wipe is always recommended to avoid mismatch of system files or values/codes/etc..
so your phone will always run properly..

its to avoid FC on certain applications also..

anyway, you have many apps is it?

cuz if you dont have that many apps..

just sync your contacts with google
backup your sms with "sms backup/restore"
backup your whatsapp messages..

thats it.
