Yupp...thats super high for fresh grade. Normally only Petroleum company like Shell can offer that much. I advise you to choose R&D line if able, my friend is in R&D line in Avago (once agilent) and they have patent money after completed projects. But bare in mind that, US company like to sell their property "including human resource" anytime no doubt they have good benefit. Like the case Agilent sold off semicon unit.
Anyway, just some advise for fresh grade, try always not to go into big company or MNC firrst. Because once you in those company, you will never able or hard to adobt yourself in smaller company or tougher company IF anything happens. Nowadays, no one can assure job secure......Just my 2 cents

Altera offers RM2.9k ++ and it crowns the highest in Penang.

Yeah, the highest for semicon line. But bare in mind they pay you that much, you need to work that much. My friend in Altera work till 10pm averagely everday. And their increment is slow (what i heard, can't comment much since im not working there... whistling.gif )
But, do have some cases that you lucky to be in some relax department then you consider lucky.... thumbup.gif

Altera penang is not semiconductor line but pure design house..

yeah, i think it will be quite stress working in altera but u can learn a lot of things there and the environment is quite nice to work there.

increment is still slow even in small company unless u job-hopping.

but i do agree on ur point that when u work with small comapny, u can cope well with situation when work in big MNC but not the other ways round

I heard that Altera is moving towards software solution provider. Not so sure if it's only applicable to Altera Penang.

Melaka got NS, Infineon, Panasonic and Flextronic. I have spent 5 years in Melaka. So, I don't plan to stay for another let say 5 years.

Mind asking if you submit your resume to Avagotech. If you an offer from Avagotech too, which one will you consider, Agilent or Avagotech?
