Hey guys, I managed to get my phone back to Malaysia (i'm in Japan). My S3 totally dead few months ago. I believe it was motherboard dead.

The thing is, I forgot how to check my online warranty. Can anyone help? Do I just get someone to bring my phone to a service centre and they will be able to handle from there? Or do I need receipt and all that other rubbish?

If the phone already registered then no need to bring receipt. Anybody can bring it to service centre on your behalf.

Ok thats good to know. But I forgot how to check whether my phone is registered. I remember registering it when I bought it but is there anyway to check?

I'm so sorry but I already read the first post and couldn't find what I wanted to know. Perhaps you could enlighten me, since you already took the time to write that post?

You didn't read first page,  that why you cannot find it.

If as you said you read it, you will 100% find it,  unless you are blind or cannot read.

Why thank you for your helpful insight, Is it the part which goes like this?

Warranty are supposed to be register by the phone dealer. But after few days if your phone still not registered, you can do it your self by following below method.

How to check warranty
Send PC " YOUR IMEI" to 62002 (for maxis and digi) or 33802 (for celcom)

IMEI:  dial *#06# on your phone

How to register eWarranty yourself (without help from dealer) - credits to lostasylum

email to the following address: ewarranty.sme@samsung.com
with the following details:
FULLNAME:
CONTACT NO:
IMEI NO:
SERIAL NO:

and a scanned copy of the receipt. apparently samsung will revert within 3 weeks
-credit TamiyaOne
1) Photostat your receipt & warranty card (with dealer chop) on a piece of paper.
2) Write down:
ATTN: Samsung e-Warranty Team
Subject: e-Warranty registration
Your name :
Your contact no:
and the IMEI Number:

2) Fax to the following number: 03-77117298

OR you can PM our very helpful member and ask him to register for you.
FallenOut
PM him this detail:

Name:
IMEI No:

Since you're in Japan..you cannot check the warranty via sms.
Ask you family/friend send an sms to local telco for checking warranty.
PC <imei number>and send to 62002 if use Digi or Maxis

Finally someone who can read and isn't blind. Thanks for your help. The time you took to type that was probably the same time all these other smart asses in here took to type their "read page 1".

The problem is my family is not very tech savvy, but I will try to instruct them how to search for the IMEI number I guess. I was worried about needing to use the S3 itself to send the sms but I suppose if use any other phone it's ok?

Why are you being such a dumbass?

The gist of the matter is, let me quote your question here, 'ad verbatim'..... 'But I forgot how to check whether my phone is registered'. So, we were just pointing you to the direction where you can get the answer. Not only were you not grateful but you have showed your arrogance by making such terse remarks.

@waveweaver was kind enough to take the extra mile to help but that does not mean the rest was not being helpful. We were guiding you but alas it has proven to be an effort wasted and now the other forummers will know to whom not to lend a helping hand unless they are prepared to spoon feed.

Fair enough if that's how you saw it I apologize for my unnecessary cheapshots. Whilst we're quoting, what I said was:

@waveweaver was a kind soul who actually read the whole thing and pointed me in the right direction. the rest called me lazy, blind, illiterate and accused me of not reading the first post, when in the time it took to type that, could have said it isn't possible to check it online.

I do apologize if you took offence to my light hearted jib and I suppose I can't stop you and all the "other forummers" from holding a grudge against me. However, I'm not here to sidetrack an otherwise informative thread and shall forgive you for calling me a stupid backside.

No worries, cheers for that. They've decided to just bring the phone to the service centre anyways and see what they say.

If the phone still unregistered the ewarranty..better ask your family member to bring the buy receipt along as a proof of purchase.

Yeah, I think they will bring what they can. I only got slightly worried cause my brother was like "I found your warranty card in the box, still unfilled". That made me doubt a little, but I vaguely remembered registering it so it should be all good. Thanx again.

Slightly weird that it isn't possible to check your warranty status online? With something called "eWarranty" I'd have thought you would be able to, or maybe it is possible but I'm just too blind to see it.

If I don't know any better, I would think you are in politics. Why do selective quoting? You have penned more than 1 post. I quoted yours to which I replied which you intentionally or otherwise conveniently forgot. And when you are in defense mode, make sure you make factual statements lest you be found out. Your so-called cheapshots were cheap alright and most definitely unnecessary. I don't take offense to the reflection of your immaturity which is far from being light hearted jibs.

I am merely trying to maintain a certain level of decorum here. Like in any environment, behavior like yours should not be condoned particularly when it was to counter an endeavoured action in response to a fault of which the proximate cause is you.

Lastly, I did not call you any names. Will never stoop to your level unless provoked. Even if I did, I would not apologize and thus do not need your forgiveness. I reiterate, get your facts correct before digging yourself a bigger sh*thole.
*
Whoaaa easy there tiger. Shame on me for getting found out sad.gif I merely quoted that post to show the circumstances in which I was asking for advice. I read the first post, saw that the way to check the warranty was through SMS, and because I am overseas wanted to know if I could check my warranty status online. Simple as.

This was my 2nd post, which was directed at waveweaver (who had read my first post and was helping me):

This is what I got for asking:

I responded to that. You do seem to know alot about my behaviour though which is commendable, even knowing how light hearted or not I was. Brownie points for you! rclxm9.gif Whilst we're talking about levels, I do think Dumbass and Smartass are about the same level? Again, I had apologized earlier directly to you but I suppose if you can't let it drop then woe to me and my shithole sad.gif

Apologies to the rest of you who are genuinely helping each other out for sidetracking the thread.

Wow, you are more political than I have envisaged you to be. Playing on everyone else's sentiments is such a damn good strategy to deploy. I learn. And capitalizing on the play of words though off tangent if one cares to analyze, will surely win hearts.

I shan't engage myself any further as politics is not a domain of mine. Let's just crane our necks to see if help will be accorded in future if similar situations arise.
*
Haha strategy, you flatter me. I do think both of us dropping this will be best for the thread, so I'll steer myself back on topic.

I'll let you guys know how my brother does at the service centre. Hoping the motherboard (I'm guessing it's motherboard failure) defect is a known one by Samsung and they either swap the phone or the motherboard in time for me when I get back.
