depends on the updates, bug fixes and battery life improvement is important, but i doubt not everyone would be a tech person who checks for updates now and then  biggrin.gif

well, depends on the user, but i would prefer to calculate based on the on-screen time. you wont be using the phone for a straight 16 hours right ?  laugh.gif

yup, TBH, i never turn on the power saving mode after finding out it kills the performance of the phone. ( very noticeable lags )

fyi, i am using some apps like deep sleeps (data option is not selected), cpu tuner and grennify smile.gif battery can last around 7-8 hours with 3g on all the way smile.gif

if I am using my iproc "extended" battery my battery can last additional 2-3 hours smile.gif capacity 2650mah

Been a long time didn't come here, how are you guys doing...

I checked sammobile and got informed S3 will get S4 features too, what features can we get actually, anyone got idea ?

I believe some features that requires hardware like pedometer won't be available since S3 doesn't have it.

IINM, whatever that connects via bluetooth should be purely a software function since the sensor is in the bluetooth device, which just reports over bluetooth link to an app on the phone.

Check this link for some sensor info.

Per my conjecture yesterday:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=58970448

I suppose those phones that have "design" as one of the key selling points of the device seems to attract irrational atachment. It seems once the word "premium design" or "sexy design" is part of the marketing, you probably start having irrational fanboyism.

I recall LG liked to market the heck out of every teensy weensy insignificant feature about 5+ years ago ... pink phone for ladies with all the floral stuff, the twistable camera so you can take shots of yourself and they used a pair of tango dancers for that ad....

Samsung has never been much about design but functionality.

I am not defending Samsung but saying that some here value functionality over aesthetics, while others are the opposite. I am also offering my 2 cents about why some threads attract more fanboyism than others. I may be wrong and welcome correction.

And ultimately, you have the constraint of your 4.x" or 5.x" or 6.x" slab of glass as the centerpiece. Even women's powder boxes (the ones with multiple colored powders and a rectangular mirror) are all THE SAME SHAPE, they only tend to differ on the logo on top and color of the cover. The base is usually gold or silver PLASTIC. whistling.gif

agree with ur 3th and 4th point. do any problems will appear after root?
*
Dude, root just gives admin access to your device. It's like the master key to all doors in the house. Nothing else has changed.

See my sig and the link if you like.

If S4 success, Note III will be nothing special again. I am pretty sure about this.

I wholeheartedly agree. Faster processor, larger screen, FHD.

I'm happy with that. No need to feel disappointed with nebulous things like "look and feel".

Ya.. of cause i know i can't upgrade RAM myself but some technician may able but i don't think anyone wanted to spoil the phone even the upgrade succesful, who want a modified phone anyway... doh.gif
*
Ah, due to it being an SoC, you CANNOT upgrade anything. Intel is sadly going the same way, and Lenovo even has a model with a riveted (!!!), not screwed, casing. Any upgrades need to be made before purchase and you're stuck with that.

I think can .. cause i saw a guy remove one part from electrical staff mobo (cannot tell what eletrical staff) and replace it.... but who want to take the risk... sweat.gif
*
You can if it is pin and binary compatible. SoCs are unfortunately for the most part, NOT pin compatible. Even if it were, the supporting components need to support your new SoC.

I would only venture to say the Korean 2Gb S3 4412 SoC *should* be pin-compatible. You can probably try getting some good tech to replace that chip. However if it is some form of BGA package, I do not know if it is worth the trouble. I am not skilled enough in that area to comment.

No matter how i want my Mobo as virgin as possible.. until i know how to fix it myself...
*
Virgin mobo means you have to buy one from Samsung. If you attempt any repair, it will become "refurbished". Modern surface mount technology and chip packaging have made it extremely difficult to perform any repair.

S3 LTE with ... so S4 should be GB and S4 LTE 3GB, you mean? So which S3 model you using ah
' hmm.gif

Do note that as long as ARM remains 32 bit, you cannot get more than 4gb, and practically addressable RAM of 2, maybe 3Gb.

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Mar 17 2013, 12:40 PM)
Design important for me. Holding same design thing same as using same old thing. smile.gif
*
I'm curious, if, Samsung put the S3 mobo into the HTC M7 shell and called it the S5, will you still buy it because it's such great design?

Because with the greatnewsexydesignbutoldmobo, it's the best NEW thing isn't it?

Would you buy a Camry 2012 with the 2009 engine? Great new design whistling.gif

Imagine a world with customizable phones. Like how you can customize your pc. That would be heaven. and the first person/company to actually implement that idea, would be very successful smile.gif

I wrote this 3 hours before your post and has been my personal opinion from day 1 of the whole era of the smartphone.

i cracked my phone LOL! but not the screen.

QUOTE(LordDenning @ Mar 17 2013, 08:57 PM)
depends how bad it is, if minor damage i wont care.

Thats why i say take a picture and show us! we can help you! How does the crack looks like? If its a straight line you can go to SC and claim for hairline crack and they might replace it for you. If it is not too obvious the damage( as in like the damage memang can see because you drop the phone ) Tell them you have no idea and it appeared out of no where..

would you consider this is a minor damage which you wouldn't mind?

Get a casing that covers the entire bezel and back. Forget showing off since 30m people also have the same phone. whistling.gif
