Ah, due to it being an SoC, you CANNOT upgrade anything. Intel is sadly going the same way, and Lenovo even has a model with a riveted (!!!), not screwed, casing. Any upgrades need to be made before purchase and you're stuck with that.

You can if it is pin and binary compatible. SoCs are unfortunately for the most part, NOT pin compatible. Even if it were, the supporting components need to support your new SoC.

I would only venture to say the Korean 2Gb S3 4412 SoC *should* be pin-compatible. You can probably try getting some good tech to replace that chip. However if it is some form of BGA package, I do not know if it is worth the trouble. I am not skilled enough in that area to comment.

My analogy of your statement is that Samsung will wait to see how the S4 fares before embarking on the whole process of planning, designing and manufacturing the Note3. If it is successful they will persevere along the same track. I believe that is what you are trying to convey.
