all of the above software are good in playing videos. personally i use klite+mpchc

I've been using MPC-HC with CCCP codec for years, not a single prob so far. Before that, I used VLC, but found that it couldn't embed proper sub styling from my videos.

1st choice is Vlc...always vlc..
2nd choice is mpc...dunno why...mpc will help when vlc got prob... |

VLC is what I use, and the potplayer is also very nice, but if there are some format can not play, you might need to convert it after all because tech is developing fast these day, some format, like trec, wlmp or others. Last time I found a very useful to convert f4v file, named hd video converter, very cool tool.
