Sifus, I have a problem. rclxub.gif

So recently I bought a 3DS games bundle with my Pikachu 3DS XL from the US. (Please, if you're going to berate me on buying stuff from overseas when I could get it from qisahn or whatever... let's just say, "things happened" cool2.gif )

The price aside, the seller claimed that all games are "brand new factory sealed 3ds titles" (exact quote).

When the bundle arrived today, I found that one game is sealed differently from the rest:

(It's the Scribblenauts copy at the top of the stack)

I'm pretty sure the Scribblenauts is re-sealed. Don't you think?

The seller did not mention ANYWHERE on the listing that ANY of the games were re-sealed. His pictures also showed the games in face view, none from the side. And seeing that the rest of the games were Y-sealed, why should a brand new Scribblenaut copy be sealed in a different way?

He also hasn't replied to any of my messages regarding shipping and feedback.

I should raise the issue with him first, then if that is a no-go, report the case to eBay right?

But want to confirm with sifus here first, the game DOES look re-sealed, right? hmm.gif

Exactly, NONE of my 'brand new' games, on 3DS or otherwise, have ever been sealed this way, other than the huge collector's editions. I'm getting veeery suspicious here. unsure.gif

Yeah, I'm not opening any of the games or my Pikachu 3DS until I get a clear reply from him. I'll miss out on the game redeem promotion on Club Nintendo though, if I don't get to use my Luigi's Mansion code and the new 3DS code. cry.gif

Sold more than 100 copies of games.

The resealed copy method is used by Capcom when they were selling Monster Hunter 3.

I see, were they very messily sealed like this copy? There are hard edges everywhere in the wrapping, vastly different from my other 3DS games.

Seller just replied, funny how when I state that I will make a complaint he replies immediately.

"I have more than gone out if my way to make this transaction as smooth as possible. All games were purchased brand new from bestbuy never were any items opened or resealed. As I do not own a 3ds I have no need to open any games or purchase used games."

I browsed some YouTube unboxing vids of this game and none of them have this kind of wrapping. I also scrutinized the cover - the font for the phrase that says "Playable in 2D or 3D etc" is in Verdana, where all other copies of my 3DS games have a different, thinner font.

However, I just slowly went over a high-definition unboxing video to compare, and it seems as though the YT user's copy also has Verdana font. So I guess it's not a forgery?

Kyoyagami, on your advice, do you think I should accept the item as "factory sealed" even though it's differently wrapped? icon_question.gif

hmm.gif So new copies of MH3U also had this wonky, hard, jagged seal? I'm just weirded out because copies of the game on YT videos and other copies of the game selling on eBay seem to have a Y-seal. Why is mine so weird-looking? shakehead.gif Just scared since I heard it's common practice for gameshops in America to reseal used games with blow dryers and such. Gamestop does it.

I asked the seller if he could provide proof of purchase from BestBuy since he got it from there, so if that's all clear I'll leave him positive feedback and be on my way.

Now that you mentioned it. My MH3 also sealed like that, guess it's brand new after all.

To my knowledge some of the 3DS that
I bought do have this "shrink wrap"
packaging. If I still remember correctly,
it was MGS Snake Eater 3D and most recent
MH3U.

After unsealing them I think they are all perfectly
brand new and legit although I do wonder why they differ from the usual y-fold packaging.

Even some of the DS games that I bought from
Play-Asia also have this kind of packaging seal.
Now don't tell me PA reseal their games too rite?

These DS games can be considered old titles
and most are reprint version.
My guess is because some games are reprint versions,
the publisher decides to use shrink wrap which is cost saving.

To a certain point, it does look "cheap" rite?

Anyway, thats my theory only wink.gif

I got it twice too, one for my MGS 3D and one for my Etrian Odyssey IV
so to me it's no biggie. Everything is perfectly new thumbup.gif

Yeah, Etrian Odyssey IV was also in the same treatment.

So is Soul Hackers that I just got yesterday.

If you still feel weirded out, go ahead and return it really. But if you're fine with it (just like most of us), then rip it open and see how new it is. hehe.

Wow... so many helpful replies.. many thanks sifus notworthy.gif

Guess I was just very suspicious of the seller not replying to my messages. Communication is a big thing with me, moreover with items as expensive as this.

I'll just keep faith that its a reprint. Now to rip open Luigi's Mansion! tongue.gif
