Most of the voters now assume BN would win due to electoral roll revelations, Sabah RCI etc. So, it is not hard to guess how the voters would vote. So they say, a few more opposition won't hurt such BN is still the government.

If no coalition wins 2/3 majority, it could be difficult for the government for implement new policies - until BN & PKR learn to work together.

The problem in Malaysia is that all politicians must toe the party line. By comparison, their American counterparts have a lot more freedom. For example, former President Bush was pro-Big Oils, but California, under Governor Arnold, continued to push for green energy. Both Bush and Arnold were Republicans.

I agree. The ruling party hopes to remain status quo, having the freedom to do whatever it likes. Unfortunately, this is the age of the internet where it is difficult to hide scandals. Most people now are aware of what is actually happening. But, old habits die hard. Politicians find their habits hard to change.

Years back, the Middle East with its rich oil wealth struck me as a very wealthy region. Today, after what happened in Egypt, I realize that the wealth is in the hands of a few with lots of hungry people that is not well looked after the government.

If the government takes the initiative to close the income gap, then economic prosperity would emerge. But all we heard is lip service. ..."high income nation"... But how to achieve this when trade unions fighting for a decent wage have their leaders sacked by the GLC. Mind you, the CEO of GLCs are appointed by the government. If you look at the number of members of the unions in the GLCs alone, they could easily be the king maker.

I am seeing the scenario of a hung Parliament. Thus investment in the stockmarket is only for the long term.

Yeah, some properties in Johor especially JB area has seen their property increase by five folds. My friend bought a house in Tmn Skudai few years ago for 135k and just recently sold for 630k. Better than KL return. rclxub.gif

If PKR wins the federal government, then I think the gambling stock will be severely affected.
Might limit the number of special draws for the number forecast operators (NFO).
Might impose entrance fee to Genting casino for local citizens (just like how Singapore is doing now).

But anyway, I think BN will win. It's difficult to see how BN will lose after all the tricks they have used to buy votes.
- all the 1 programmes (Kar1sma, pr1ma, br1m, bl1n ....)
- the legalising of the illegal foreign workers, and implementation of the minimum wage. (this, i think is the secret weapon to counter the Chinese votes.)

In 2008, there were more unhappy people due to the sudden petrol price hike. This directly impact their wallet and people could clearly see it hurting their lives. Hence the anger and resentment towards the BN government, and this was reflected in the higher votes for opposition.
This time, I think it's the prices of housing that has gone up sky high and people could not afford housing. But this number of people is much lower than the 2008 number of unhappy people.
