Last time made call around 1030 last night. After that no signal for data or voice. Call hotline and went thru several rounds of resetting and went to sunway pyramid center to cjange sim as it did not work on any phone so thot sim change is the solution. Used in note 2 but same issue and when I used the new sim in my other phone the sim works.

Just found out in the net that my phone is not able to receive calls or data due to baly flashed ROM causing IMEI change and no phone number in the About Phone/Status section. Samsung service center is not open till tomorrow I guess, so in the meantime, anyone know how to reset the IMEI? My phone is still under warranty, and receipt with IMEI and S/N number is still with me.

Your EFS file is corrupted . Did u do a backup in your phone or computer ? Can explain what u did to get this ? Sometimes , flashing a wrong kernel csn cause this as well .
*
I have a back-up folder for EFS in my ext sd card. I actually used TWRP earler then reflashed back to CWM. From there I cannot get network data or calls anymore. Checked in the Net and found that TWRP corrupts your firmware if reflash back to CWM. I went to Summit USJ and was advised to go to the Service Center to reflash my software since mine is still under warranty but is also better to reinstall an original Samsung ROM - which I am doing now.......................

Then if u flash back TWRP , u should have an option to restore your efs . Give it a try .

Did that too, no avail. Going to the service center tomorrow morning since they are open from 3rd day New Year.

What about motherboard replacement and IMEI /efs replacement? Am going to Section 51 center tomorrow. All I know is that I have to pay since they would know it was rooted when in download mode

why don't you reset your counter and get back to normal status before sending to service center?  you just lost imei not that you cannot boot, root and use triangle away.
*
Now I cannot even boot at all - all the time stuck at boot logo - and message in recovery showed, "unable to mount / efs" so its totally gone and have to replace motherboard and also recreate my IMEI and efs from scratch. Guess this is a first in this whole series of Note 2 forum topics here

alexng2208 and his whistling.gif hot hot colleagues, obviously some things might get hard drool.gif (to do I mean)
Uh, you seem to be the first major EFS disaster here. Try download mode and use PC Odin first? If you can't even get into download mode, then SC won't be able to see your booboo either.

Nope - I can go into download mode - that's the problem. and can see the custom binary counter and also i can use ODIN to flash any software, original Samsung or Custom roms or even CWM recovery.

Done that flashed the Dec 2012 Samsung Malaysia ROM too as well as latest. No go. From what I heard too, once you go to 4.1.2 you cannot flash 4.1.1 version as it will brick your phone

Perhaps a forced brick is now your best option?  brows.gif

Either I pay to replace the MOB and reinstall my IMEI etc or throw it while waiting for next phone. Guess its a non brainer to go repair it and having the warranty void at the same time.

Do you have a param.bin files anywhere inside your phone. Reflashing param.bin will brinv back your imei..IINM hmm.gif
*
Can't find that out as I cant get into home screen, just stuck at never-ending boot loop. It started with a IMEI of 00004999xxxxxxx which then led to an unmountable efs folder then this

I'm saying flash in 4.1.1 and cause a hard brick. Then you can go to SC nicely  whistling.gif  and say SDS or something like that without needing to pay.
*
Am on 4.1.1 but what does SDS mean?

BTW I can go to Download mode and can see Custom Binary Counter as 8 so they may also see it when they test it with their own firmware in that mode.

OK found out what SDS stands for thanks - will post update tomorrow after my visit to the Service Center.
