Thing is the update doesnt change anything .. it still didnt fix the battery drain
Unlike ios where they tell whats updated

The best update would be iphone and sony

Absolutely no serious significant battery drain on 4.1.2 stock n all custom ROMs vs 4.1.1
Check your apps

tot31 yeah. I've flashed NEAK kernel on top previous Stock ROM, with your guidance, and the battery is good, and till I've ask guidance from nehalem176 on BBS, the battery is even better. Since we've got new Stock ROM, I wanna try RedPill this time. Unfortunately Perseus doesn't work well on my side. I just wanna check as I've used Mobile Odin only to flash .TAR files and never tried to flash .ZIP file before. Anyway, thank you so much.
*
Mobile odin only flash tar files
For zip you flash from recovery mode
Download tar version if you want to use mobile odin

sifus, would like to ask something.. should i get galaxy note II right away or wait for price reduce after the unveiling of galaxy note 8.0 in the coming Mobile World Congress?

Will the price of note II reduce? else, might get it now itself..

Thanks.

Why would a 8 inch tablet release affect the price of a 5.5 inch phone ?? No logic at all
Both are completely different category of products

I still dont understand WHY even some experienced users always want to update their rom thro KIES/OTA ??
It is a hopeless way to update. If you are lucky, good and it goes smoothly. Most of the time, your update get cutoff and in worst scenario if files are being updated midway, your phone get softbrick
Easiest and most reliable way is to download the official rom and use Odin in PC or Mobile odin ( to maintain root and recovery) to flash the rom

regarding those fast dormancy wakelock, I have come to the conclusion the fast dormancy toggle by gm does not help.  those wakelock happen when you using data to sync or download or tethering when the screen is off.  only way to reduce it is to prevent or reduce app which wake the device up to use data.  example is using dsbs to schedule syncing every hourly or so on.

with that said of you are downloading our tethering with screen off do not expect to safe battery cos your device is obviously not sleeping during these activities.

Never bother to test this as battery life is excellent n wake locks non issue for me
However did test on previous Note n do not see any difference or benefit
Still do not know whether our local telco have this built in function. Have call Maxis helpline n answer is they don't know !!!!

My note 2 was dead all of a sudden. I sent to Samsung service center at 1U on wednesday morning for checking. The guy attended me tested and told me it's hardware problem. There were few cases like me according to him. So they need to change the parts and promised me to collect in 3 days time.

JUst now I give a call to the service center and a lady answered the phone. She told me it will take 1 week to repair bcos they need to order the parts from somewhere.

I'm actually quite disappointed with samsung's service. It was clearly their fault and mistake that the phone died and I've to make waiting for minimum 1 week to get the phone? I mean I dont work in Sabah and it is really inconvenient for me to collect the phone.

Has anyone face sudden death before? How long it take to repair???

Sad to hear about your case
Personally I feel waiting 1 week is fair to have parts replaced ( since they have no stock) unless they have immediate stock
I replaced my previous Note 3G module and I waited 2 weeks as is rare failure

YES. Regret leaving you guys but I will still be following this thread
Sold it within 3 mins after posting and received 10 enquiries within 10 minutes
Yes will want to try out the new Xperia Z ( due 6 March) and probably get the Note 3 later on
Note 2 is still the best android phone I have used to date
