THE HAGUE: Investigators from across Europe said on Monday they had identified about 380 football matches that had been fixed across Europe, bringing in about 8 million euros in profits, reported Eurosport.

Speaking in The Hague, Europol head Rob Wainright said the joint investigation had identified about 425 corrupt officials, players and serious criminals in 15 countries.

"This is a sad day for European football," said Wainwright.

He said a Singapore-based criminal network was involved in the match fixing, spending up to 100,000 euros (£86,000) per match to bribe players and officials.

Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet has claimed the Champions League game in England allegedly involving match-fixing was Liverpool against Debrecen in 2009.

Their report places no suspicion on Liverpool whatsoever and instead claims Debrecen's Montenegrin goalkeeper Vukasin Poleksic was ‘bribed to ensure the match ended with at least three goals’.

How Brendan Rodgers is becoming the new Rafa Benitez at Anfield
By Kopology on February 4, 2013

No sooner had Brendan Rodgers been appointed Liverpool manager, than the internal clocks of many Liverpool fans began to ominously tick.

Modern football is a ruthless game, especially for managers sandwiched between fans demanding instant success and owners quick to scapegoat them when it isn’t forthcoming. At Liverpool, fan expectation correlates not with the club’s stature or current playing squad, but with the glorious achievements of an ever more distant past.

With Liverpool’s illustrious history as a backdrop, Brendan Rodgers looked like a child at the wheel of a juggernaut as the new Liverpool manager. A man out of his depth. An impostor. But this wasn’t just because of who Brendan Rodgers was. It was in part because of who he wasn’t: Rafael Benitez.

LOL keep dreaming dillon, keep dreaming.  tongue.gif  But yeah, we are not the ones fixing so it should be ok. That Debrecen GK must be in deep shit now. Already banned 2 years by UEFA once before, according to the reports anyway.

Are we really that bad that even when someone bribed the opposition goalie to let in 3 goals and we only manage to score 1. biggrin.gif

What about the Mexican keeper Ochoa? 27 years old. Read that Rogers is interested in him. Never seen him play though. Any good? 50 caps for Mexico with 20 clean sheets.

Debrecen slams CL fixing reports as old news

Obviously because who cares about Debrecen tongue.gif. That news came out shortly after some match fixing evidence is discovered. Some media korek2 old story and voila instant traffic as their the first to follow up the match fixing news.

He's pretty good. And gotta be the most reasonable replacement for Reina as his contract is running out. I wouldn't be surprised though if a CL team hijack him from us biggrin.gif

Liverpool consider move for Newcastle forward Hatem Ben Arfa

Brendan Rodgers will consider a move for Hatem Ben Arfa this summer as the Liverpool manager looks to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding the midfielder's future at Newcastle United and the prospect of Andy Carroll returning to St James' Park.

Hope BR will hire Carra as defending coach and he will teach our boys how to defend properly

Exactly what I was thinking. Because throughout his career a lot of people praised his intelligence and Gerrard also said he might be a Liverpool coach in the future.

Chance for Sterling to regain his form after losing his place to Sturridge. If he does play.
