Im on iphone 5 ios6.01. Advisable to upgrade to ios6.1 and JB or just JB with ios6.01 since 6.1 battery drain is terrible?

each time i tried to update my apps from appstore, it would go into safe mode and update from there. Any1 with the same problem?
