I using d3100 now but want to have more focus point and faster auto focus (since I like to shot on random people and sport etc)
Should I get a second hand d7000 or just wait for new d7100 come out?
When d7100 come out will d7000 price drop?

This is will be my first camera upgrade, and plan to get a prime lense for portrait shot after that

Random shot with d3100 70-300mm

D7100 really worth the price? People commented a bit overprice for DX

I plan to upgrade my d3100, Not sure go d7100 or direct FX (FX need new set of lens...)
Hate my d3100, hardly track and focus flying bird

Taken with 70mm d3100

The lower the shutter, the nicer the panning looks. But if its blur, then you still didn't nail the shot... I would prefer to go higher shutter speed to nail the shot and still with panning effect. Especially side view should be easier to get all parts intact due to the motion direction.
Cosplay addict spotted! laugh.gif

I use 1/30 since they not moving very fast, But from the picture clearer show my hand shake up down
Best using monopod for this kind of shot?

Cheapest FX now need close to RM6K, before that you need more. Higher end FX cost over RM10K. How do you define overprice DX?
D7000/D7100 is higher end DX, the differences are important enough for many DSLR users

As for your tracking, the lenses also play very important role. What lens are you using?
Hop in Nikon Centre @ Berjaya Times Square and try these lenses:
55-300mm f/3.5-f/5.6 DX
70-300mm f/3.5-f/5.6
80-200mm f/2.8
70-200mm f/2.8

See the huge difference in the focusing speed and accuracy
*
I only have 70-300mm f/3.5-f/5.6 for mid long range shot, this lense is my favorite
Night shot fastest lense I have is 50mm f1.8, to cover weakness of first lense
And 18-55mm just as backup, in case both upper lense don't fit situation
My lense should be complete for dx now

From my experience panning at Sepang, I find shoot without monopod gives me better result, maybe because I'm shooting with 70-200 VR2 + TC-20E III instead of those 300mm, 400mm or 200-400mm supertelephoto or I'm not used to panning on monopod.

My shots from Super GT 2012,

The usual easy side ways panning,

Mine explain reason why using f16?
So high f for sharp background? But it was blur anyway

I pre ordered d7100 now, but should I just wait a while (maybe few weeks) for the d7100 price drop?

Usually how fast can a new dslr price drop? And how much/%?
Share from your experience thanks

I saw many people said build up good lense first before you jump FX, actually how does it works?
You buy all good prime DX lense and later move to FX body, still the DX lenses need to be upgrade right? Or does it means using FX body with the existing DX lense, and slowly convert DX lens to FX lens

Now I considering D600, but I don have much good lense now, so I should stick back D7000?

Now using d3100
My lense:
AFS Nikkor 70-300 4.5 5.6 G (my favorite lense, I like far shot)
AFS Nikkor 50mm 1.8 G (for fast, night, or good bokeh)
AFS Nikkor 18-55mm 3.5 5.6 G (anything else)

Or maybe their focusing chip doesn't really work well with Nikon AF system  wink.gif Maybe kena sabotage xD
When they say build up good lens first, it means buying FX lens. My case, I started with 50, 70-200, 16-35, 85 then jump to FX. After I jump to FX only added 35 and TC.

50mm f/1.8G is a FX lens, 70-300 also is FX smile.gif just if you jump FX you need a mid range or a UWA... consider the 24-120, 24-70 or 16-35? or the mighty 14-24 tongue.gif
*
Thanks, so FX lense will work perfectly for DX body? Only concern for FX lens is price...?

Better stick back d7000 and practice more

Just got myself new d7000 (old if compare d7100...)

Do we still need to buy extra screen protector? Since already go the default hard LCD protector from d7000

Grats on purchase! Wise choice there  thumbup.gif
I don't think need screen protector already when there is a plastic one covering the whole thing~
Just need to clean the dusts that get trapped inside once in a while only I guess
