So most of you consider D700 over D600?but I heard D700 is discontinued already right? How much D700 new body?
I am not sure the money is worth for old tech + 2nd hand?(D700) or new tech yet still have flaws (D600) What are the advantages of FX? If I can own FX body but not the lens, can use DX lens temporary? I am using D90, if upgrade one shot go for FX which recommended by my friend. Saving money ><.... |

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Feb 4 2013, 03:28 PM) dun worry you still have cheapest 50mm f/1.8 FX lens can choose if you buy FX body. Which DX body that you are using? Looks like you are prepared for FX body ya since you have FX lens...right now i DX body with FX lens... it is nothing to improve for now haha you see even the Quicksilver? he use D600 + 35mm f/1.8 only DX Quicksilver or Silverfire? sounds familiar...haha...he is funding for lens? I check already... D700 is 5 fps but can boost until 8 fps with BG. How about D600? can boost it? if not to comparing fps between them, how about photo quality? Oh yea, D7100 rumors haven't leak out any news or info yet right? |

QUOTE(lpyycy @ Feb 4 2013, 05:37 PM) as from my view, get lens first...as FX lens still can use in DX body, and normally lens dont depreciate as fast as body... so, my concept was like invest in lens better than body, but do invest on body if you find it limits you. A decent FX lens like wide angle 14-24mm or 24-70mm cost a boom >< need to save a lot....that why i feel FX is like a unreachable star for me.Also, if you have FX body without FX lens, DX lens get vignetted on FX body unless you zoom it till certain zoom range... thats what i thinking, because i tahan now with D7000 and kitlens, saving for FX lens..lolx... Btw, I am tahan using D90 now...... the noise... urgh...sometimes beh tahan... |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Feb 4 2013, 09:08 PM) The F3.5-5.6 aperture range will not be good enough for the D90 I think, especially so when in the dark... The kit lens (also F3.5-5.6) of the D90 doesn't perform that well in the dark, starting to show much noise at ISO3200 Yeah, even noise can be very obvious at ISO 1000...if up to ISO 3200 then GG ad. |

QUOTE(BlizzardCraft @ Feb 5 2013, 11:20 PM) hmmm... okay ba... i proceed with the deal 1.) Bring a torchlight (bright white light) to check for FUNGUS and dust when open the aperture blade.btw any idea how to check and purchase a 2nd hand lens? 1) Check front and back elements. ( Method : use light reflect here there... need magnifier or anything ? ) 2) Check focusing ( Speed? sound? accuracy? ) 3) Check image from shots? ( but how to? @@ ) 4) Check exterior... ^ correct? 2.) Smooth mechanical function of the aperture blade (open and close smoothly), no grease marks/leakages 3.) Check focus ring, smooth when turning or not. 4.) Yeah, front and back elements coating (got scratch or not) 5.) Focusing mechanism (sound, accuracy) 6.) Check images from shots (check for backfocusing, observe can focus accurately on the subject that you point with focus point, increase/decrease aperture to check bokeh/ depth of field) 7.) Check exterior (any dented part around metal mounting and lens body, metal connector pins etc) 8.) Request purchasing receipt and most importantly warranty card (looks like a nikon paper with serial code) Don't hesitate anymore, good deals wait for no man...if you are okay with topping up RM50 for a better gold wording (which is more presentable, at lease can know owner has taken good care of it) Sharing some experience from newbie. Cheers |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Warranty slip is preferable since it is like IC card for the lens itself.you won't know whether the lens is from oversea, stolen item, used item for few times or not. However, all depend on your justification. Yes it is little bit of fading if not mistaken. Or else it is too dark which is insufficient to make the make the wording shine. |

QUOTE(Silverfire @ Feb 6 2013, 03:48 PM) Just warranty card no receipt can be sent for repair I think. Since I sent my camera for cleaning, I always send with warranty card only. Nikon covers international warranty. Is that true? That means the lens that I buy from U.S will be covered? but why got the existence of grey set? No record in Nikon Centre not sure if its Grey lens wo, it just proves its not been sent for service/repair before. And since Nikon covers international warranty for its lenses, so |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Feb 6 2013, 06:47 PM) My 85mm, 35mm and 70-200mm no issue, but my 16-35 a bit faded compared to the rest. Any transparent sticker which can stick and remove easily to protect the wording? *of course the sticker will not stick on the wording strongly, once you peel off then...GG"50mm f/1.8G seldom use so its still spanking new |

In order to check aperture blades, at the lens mounting there, you will find a small piece of plastic appearing from a hole beside the metal connector pins....just move it and check. it is a switch where you need it to wide open your aperture hole and check for fungus. http://www.diyphotography.net/files/images...onverter-02.jpg |

QUOTE(Tony Stark @ Feb 7 2013, 12:12 AM) actually for my line of works - i love to use the D90 (my trusty crop sensor D90 really is a good DSLR? I am using it. Duno i am still newbie or what, I duno how to utilise it...always get photo that is lack of sharpness if use the extreme side focus point... but CY got a point - color wise it even loses to my 85 1.8G (me no haz 1.4G like u but so far, so good. cant wait to fully utilize it this weekend! and 11 focus points like not enough or flexible for me to point and headshot with different angle for full portrait.... So noob. I lack of time and guidance to learn post-processing, digital blending, HDR etc.... just simple WB, exposure adjustment. |

QUOTE(Silverfire @ Feb 7 2013, 12:38 AM) Wokay...any flaws or special operation on the D90 nature? Is battery grip really helps in shooting? I find it too exotic for just to grab. Feel want to get ori one but as secondhand. I heard third party BG do actually pull down our shutter speed? isn't?Wow, so many of you supports for 85mm f1.8G, gonna try it if I have the chance... QUOTE(f5calvin @ Feb 7 2013, 01:37 AM) The 50mm f1.8D has lesser distortion and vignetting, colour very nice and sharp. My gf prefer 50mm over 35mm duno why. Perhaps she feels the bokeh and colour is nice.35mm wide enough to take 3-5 people, fast in focussing, sharp, but duno why overall colour still lose 50mm. I read reviews that 35mm have distortion, vignetting occurs at big aperture (lower number of f), darker colour toning at the side. I have tried 50mm f1.8G, superb fast and silent focusing, darn sharp if compare with 35mm f1.8g. I duno why too...thats why it makes me dilemma in choosing 35mm f1.8G and 50mm f1.8G as their secondhand price is almost similar. But I chosen 35mm because of is focal length, I don't need to stand so far to take portrait photo. Perhaps I consider replace my 50mm f1.8D with 50mm f1.8G.... is that wise and worth? any reviews from sifu and pro? |
