well, i'm sure they are alot of spm graduates out there apllied alot of scholarships. though, we still havent receive any letter asking us to attend interview session but it is better to do our home work first and gear ourselves wit the best strategy to confront the panel smile.gif

ok, here will be my questions :
1) to them who sit for a scholarship interview session before, how will the interview session will be conducted?

2) i read from the star, saying tat PSD interview will be in a group interview which consist of 5-7 ppl and will take around one hour. in this one hour, what will they do? discuss bout a topic? a topic bout wat? general issue or some more complicated?

3) is it neccesary to use some bombastic words or smart appearance to impress the panel? like wearing tie etc...

erm... that's all for now. after doing some google, here some tips:
* Your personal history in terms of education, employment, and (some) family. How each shaped you as a person, and how each affected your values and dreams.
* Any awards, championships, honors, distinctions you have won.
* Hopes, dreams and plans for the future, how you plan to attain them and why they are so important to you.
* Hobbies and personal interests.
* Your personal financial standing, and that of your parents, especially if the scholarship is need-based.
* Any questions you may have for the interviewer, relevant to the interview. It can't hurt to come up with a few of these. It will make you look even more enthusiastic.
* Arrive ten minutes early. Do not be late. If something comes up that will prevent you from arriving on time, call as soon as you can so the interviewer can either attend to other matters while waiting, or rescheduling for a more convenient time.
* Men, wear a jacket and tie, women, a suit or conservative dress/skirt. Dress as though you're attending a job interview. Do not wear jeans, t-shirts or casual clothing. This cannot be stressed enough.
* Make eye contact, sit up straight, and give a firm handshake. No gum, coffee, food or cigarettes are to be brought into the interview.
* Answer all questions as briefly and candidly as propriety allows. Avoid rambling. If you've prepared sufficiently, the answers will already be on the tip of your tongue. If you're confused by a question, don't hesitate to ask the interviewer to clarify. It certainly beats a grasping, directionless response.
* Be positive and enthusiastic about the scholarship and about your own future. Smile. Foster easy conversation.

One thing I've always noticed from interviews is that people sit, and then sort of fold up, they hunch and their feet point at each other. Make sure you sit up straight and your feet are pointing forward.

Adding on to what I listed there... really, the JPA interview is hardly as 'professional' as you would expect. I actually advise you NOT to use big words because the interviewer most likely would not understand them! And as long as you don't turn up in jeans or T-shirt it'd be fine, I didn't see a single person there in coat and tie. The topic given to my group to discuss was 'How to live a healthy lifestyle'.

Then again, I might not be the best person to give advice on that, having failed to secure the scholarship. Although I suspect that may have more to do with me having applied medicine, and also not having any co-curricular activities. laugh.gif

IMO most important thing is WHAT course you apply for... and what you appeal for. NEVER appeal for exactly the same thing that you applied for, it doesn't work.

Well, yes, obviously my group was targetting medicine. doh.gif

Means if you apply for, say, medicine UK, and you fail to receive, don't appeal for medicine UK. Appeal for something less popular.

I also am going for an interview on the 5th. It's for a diploma in architecture. It should be easier than the one azarimy stated in here since its not for a degree?

Questions like? About the course or about the interviewer? Would it make us look like we didnt do our homework about the course that we applied for if we ask questions about the course?

I'm going for the Star scholarship thing. Anyone went before?

Edit: A tip from me, remember to switch OFF the h/p.

JPA (applied for medicine, 2004)
-Must speak English.. even though the interviewer in the front has pretty damn bad English himself -__-'
-Conducted in conference room of a public university.. groups of 10 with 2 interviewers (1 main who will be asking the Qs)
-Not many Qs, everyone is given a topic and a few minutes to prepare.. then everyone takes turn to introduce themselves, what course they apply for and why they want it Then you'll speak for 5 min abt your topic.
Hmm.... About the group discussion topic... Is it related to wat subject you choose?? blink.gif As like wat misao has eXPeri3nc3d b4... rclxm9.gif

SO, does tat mean in the whole group must be the same targetting subject?? notworthy.gif
Anyone can clariy on this?? Thanks in adv... wink.gif
