Just got the update to 4.2.2 update on my stock, non-rooted Nex7. Well, I actually forced it (Google Services Framework -> Force Stop -> Clear Data). The download took forever, for some reason, maybe the servers were busy. Waited almost 10 minutes for the download and reinstall.

Anyways, nothing much to add. I never bothered with bluetooth streaming, so didn't really test to see if they fixed that. One bug I did have before has been fixed. Previously, if I turned of (full off, not standby) the tablet and plugged it in to charge, the thing would automatically boot up again. Now it's gone back to default behaviour, just showing a white battery icon while charging when off. Haven't yet had time to see if it fixed my second problem, which is the slow charge times.

Also seems to have new lock-screen widgets for Google Now, though I'm not sure if this was from 4.2.2 update or the update I had for Google Now just before that.

Settings -> Apps -> All
Scroll down to Google Services Framework
Tap "Force Stop" and then "Clear Data"
Go back to Settings main page and scroll down to "About tablet"
Click System updates and "Check Now"

Some people say you have to repeat the process a few times for the update to show, but it came within the first try for me. I usually just wait a few days and it automatically comes, but this time I'll be traveling abroad (flight later today) and wanted to get the update over and done with.

Note: I've only ever done this on a stock unrooted Nexus 7. No idea how it affects rooted devices, but you may lose root. Either way, if I'm rooted, I'm usually on a custom ROM (like on my previous Galaxy Nexus running Bugless Beast), so I just wait for the ROM dev to issue an updated build a few days after Google releases the AOSP sources.

Live widget will contribute power usage. So i dont use live wallpaper and widget. That will reduce battery consumption as well. Besides that ,I use task manager to constantly kill app. Another tips, turn off bluetooth and wireless if not use

I think it's probably an app or widget that's responsible for excessive power drain. Ever since the 4.2.2 update, my battery life has improved, and the only thing I turn off is bluetooth. Wifi, location services, auto update (for Google apps only), gmail and weather widget are always on for me.

I took these screenshots yesterday.

94% remaining after 16 hours, and my screen was on for 1 hour (auto brightness). Didn't browse web, but used maps a bit (looking for an appointment location for tomorrow) and also played a few Dead Trigger missions, as you can see in the first shot. Overall I think it's pretty good power consumption, especially considering my device is one of the oldest (I was one of the earliest here to get it, less than one month after release) and has gone through a lot more charge/discharge cycles. Mine is wifi-only though, so maybe 3G versions are worse.

One tip I'd give to people is to disable Google Currents sync if they don't use it. I notice a big improvement in battery life and performance if Currents is not synching in the background. I also disable Google Drive sync because I don't use it, but I don't know if that really affects anything or not.
