hello all.. just bought Nexus 7 32GB 3G 2 days ago.. contented with the unit biggrin.gif just confirming... is the steps below correct?

To root:
1 - Use Nexus 7 Toolkit to Root and Install Custom Recovery (using 1-click option)
2 - After Rooted and Installed Custom Recovery, i can do a Nandroid backup.
3 - Can Flash to Custom ROM and KERNEL using Custom Recovery?
4 - Unroot/ Flash back to Normal again using Nexus 7 Toolkit.
5 - IF anything happens, can factory reset.

Am i right that i can do all using Nexus 7 toolkit? First time gonna flash an android device.. Scared will have problems..

As for Custom ROM and Custom KERNEL, can recommend me some with good customization options and a good battery life?

Thanks.

EDIT:
I noticed that there isn't root option available for 4.2.2.. I am still on 4.2.1... Should i Root the 4.2.1, then temporarily unroot it using OTARootKeeper, update to 4.2.2 and root back using OTARootKeeper? Does this work?

Thanks.

Get the latest version of nexus 7 toolkit which contains 4.2.2 option here (if you can read chinese then it should be no problem for you, if you don't understand chinese, you have to find the download logo to get the file)

I want to buy a N7 32GB wifi only, it's for my son, he doesn't need 3G. What is senq, is it in KL and is it a good place to get this model ?

Cheers.

AFAIK, Malaysia is only launched with 16GB and 32GB 3G model

As for 32GB Wifi only, you can get from Lowyat sellers or newegg or shops that import them

Thanks for the replies. I have been on their website and they stock 2 models of Nexus 7 but don't give any details of what they are, 16GB & 32GB, or wifi only or wifi & 3G.

I will have to take a look around when I am in KL next time.

Cheers.

OK thanks I will check in Lowyat.

I live in Thailand and only the 16GB unit is available on the rare occasion they actually have any stock.

I have been looking through the Lowyat forum sellers and only one appears to carry the model I want but doesn't have stock.

The problem with buying from an online store is getting it past Thai customs, tax rates on imports are crazy here.

Maybe the best option is to buy from an authorized dealer, even if that means spending more and getting the 3G model.

Thanks again for all the help.
