I just tested Sony Tablet Z in SenHeng two days ago. Although the nett weight is higher than N7, the feeling on hand was totally different! The Tablet Z felt much lighter...probably due to the weight/volume ratio!

Too bad no 3G version yet. Water resistant sounds useful but then again, it is simply too big to carry around. N7 just nice. Due to stupid lag, I only use it for Waze. Everything else move to my N4.

My Nexus 7 has issues such as screen problem where it leaves watermark, battery issue and cannot power up device after battery finished. sent to lowyat, got motherboard, battery, physical buttons and screen changed. completely awesome service and now my device is like new again.Only back cover is still same old. And now the performance is much better. I am still a happy user of Nexus 7. Never regretted one bit. And i got mine from US when its launched.

After several months, my rooted N7 slowed down. Slower than a Galaxy Nexus. Read many reports that Asus opt for low quality flash memory chips. No fix other than selling it away.

Once a week I ran LagFix which improved the situation a bit. But after few days or sometimes hours, back to square one.

I will avoid all Asus products for now. It is back to Samsung or Sony products. Too bad Tablet Z no 7" version. Sure sell like hot cakes.

use Forever Gone app and Lagfix..helps a lot..

Hi.
How much did it cost for the repair? Since you mentioned your unit was from US launch, i presume the warranty is now over, ya?

Nope. Warranty still available. I paid nothing. biggrin.gif

I got mine in August but by the time my friend brought it back for me here it was September. So my warranty was still available and now ASUS extended because they took longer to fix my device. So now expires in October.

Reserved a unit with senQ this morning. But when I went to get it, it was a faulty unit, wouldn't charge (wanted to test it out).

Now have to wait for tomorrow, the salesperson will get another unit from another branch. *fingers-crossed* to get a proper working unit.

yupp..lately i also face the same thing..my N7 start to lag and sometimes kinda annoying..feel cheated by asus sometimes -.-

How come this is possible? The read / write speed became slower or the Mhz become slower for these chips? I'm not a programmer but these digital things shouldn't deteriorate ...?
Is it because there are too many data which the device hold that it causes lag in read / write process?
What happen if you factory reset it?

I know on some devices, once your storage is low (or if you store a lot of data / pictures / videos / esp databases for chat apps) you will experience some lag. However factory reset or purging old or unused data will make things fast again.

There are reports saying it is due to the cheap NAND flash memory that does not have a good controller. If this is true, then I suspect the NAND has a bad garbage collector. The write performance will become significantly slower when the storage is almost full as the controller have lesser choices to write.

Yes. But the bigger the size of the NAND memory, the slower you will get to the point it has bad write performance. But as you store more files into it, in the end the inevitable will still happen.

So it's like data all over the place, bad fragmentation I supposed.. Android doesn't have defrag? I lazy to check Google play.. but if have then it may be the cure for this laggyness hehe.. laugh.gif

Went to Digital Mall today, checked out the 32GB version, selling @ RM1k shakehead.gif what a rip off.. I just tested some browsing. Felt the screen is still small heheh... maybe go visit other places and try try again see if the feeling is right. The Samsung Note 8 on the other hand is so gooding.. the screen size is just right I think. But of course big price tag differ...

What it needs is a TRIM-alike function.
