if i get an ipod nano, it will cost about RM900 ++ but at the same time i can get ipod video (second hand) around the price too. With ipod nano, i can hang it around my neck but can i do the same for ipod video? sweat.gif

hehe.. can............ but kinda heavy la.. and very very odd looking too. smile.gif do you wanna get a new set or second hand? but seriously, answer this question; how often would you take your ipod video (if you buy one), and view videos from a small thinny screen? for me, my chances of that are 10% out of my time. and 90% of it will be listening to mp3s more.

yeah true. it's just that the price is so near that it makes me so tempted to get a video with 30GB capacity. The second hand set is still in very good condition (almost like new).

I'd get the video.
Many may say you can't finish 30GB or 60GB, but I'm telling ya, you can. When you get some songs, you'll want more and more and more.

I won't deny the nano is sexy as hell, but the video is equally nice.
It even says "I'm an Ipod Video, and I'm more expensive and I play video. Boo to nano~"

alright, if the price is close (merely RM100 or so), then just get Ipod Video. Be sure to check the set thoroughly before buying it (not to forget to ask about the warranty period too).

how i wish i got money to get one of these tongue.gif

ditto to what pizzaboy have said.. when u start to collect songs which are of a higher bitrate, your nano(i presume 2g) will run out of space very very fast. i'd say if you're not using the ipod often during sports, just get the video since u can just put it in your bag or pocket. get a pair of great earphones too laugh.gif

same as my problem..
but in the end ive decided to buy nano. I know the price different make ipod video a better value for ur money.
but from my past experience, even with the small zen micro, i rarely took it with me unless im went for a long journey, its small, but bulky. now, i bring my nano everywhere. its very comfortable.
the storage maybe small but battery life come first. even if ur mp3 player can store one billion mp3s, it doesnt give huge benefit if it can only play for 15/16/20 hours.
so my opinion.. if u are the kind of person who travel long distance a lot, ipod video is more suitable for u. but if u like listen to ur music while walking to work/school, jogging, waiting at the bus stop, nano is a perfect choice.

just my opinion...

Someone is offering me a used 2GB iPod Nano for RM475. I have yet to see what type of condition it is in, but I may purchase it because I am in need of a decent dedicated MP3 player.

The iPod Video clearly wins out in terms of capacity. The iPod Nano simply can't match the iPod Video in value. Yes, the iPod Video is larger. At the same time, its screen is larger and better suited for viewing pictures or playback of videos.

Both players have decent battery life.

Me? If I don't like the shape that this iPod Nano is in, I'm going to wait it out and get an iPod Video later. I have over 16GB of music. 2GB of flash memory isn't going to cut it.

It isn't right to say you don't need iPod video if you don't intend to use its video playback feature.Like many have pointed out its massive storage space is a huge advantage you won't have to deal with the headache of considering what to keep and delete which makes it very convenient especially when you travel.Plus its size isn't that bulky either so its small enough to fit your pocket.Even without video the iPod still rocks, the video feature is merely a bonus...but a sweet one at that. smile.gif

actually I am struggle for the ipod nano and video as well, my point of view is below.

If I buy ipod video which offer the big capacity but how long the battery can last? I was thinking of that all the while .. if compare to external hard disk said u want to as a backup drive, this is I always want to be ..which one last longer?

so due to this reason, I will opt for nano and go for external hard disk if I want to back up or storage, of cause there is not that convenience if u are comparing ipod video and external hard disk, but with the price tag, to me.. i feel is the most economic way ..
just my 2 cents smile.gif

lol psp is not an option for me cos i'm not a gamer.

The main purpose of my ipod would be to play music cos i already have an external hard disk for back up purposes but of course having a video one would be a bonus. wink.gif

it really depend on ur taste, personally, i also feel ipod video better, more capacity than nano, but when i take my friend ipod video side by side with my nano, still my heart tell me nano is better, maybe it's small, convienient and looks nicer in small shape than video. well it really depend on ur choice. laugh.gif

it depends on you and your lifestlye. you have to know what your needs are. ask yourself how much songs you're gonna have, are you going to move around alot, do you like smaller gadgets than bigger ones, how much u wanna spend etc etc. it depends on your taste. what you like and what you dont like.

one thing i hate about ipod is they don give manual of how to function the ipod, we have to operate the ipod our self and try it our self.  mad.gif

haha eusioxn, i remember u from my last iriver bulk. ipod dont need manual la... it's quite interesting to play with it without any manual. and u can discover everything intuitively (some things require u to read the manual thou)

and for me video is the one. get a av cable and it can transform to dvd/cd player for ur tv. excellent quality too..

actually the ipod is pretty easy to use... IMO
i've only used non-video type ipods...
but i doubt the ipod video would be much harder though...

the control is nothing different except it has extra 'videos' menu on the main menu instead of just 'music' and 'photos'. and some extra setting for the video

I wonder why would people hurt their eyes like that, squinting at a tiny little screen for minutes/hours... For god's sake it's only a 1.5-inch screen... My thumb is bigger than that.

I guess I'll get myself an Ipod NANO!!!
cause I really listen more mp3 than playing the video.
I know 4GB may not enough to store most of my mp3s.. I guess I'll get myself a portable hard disk to store all my mp3s better

1gb could store 240 songs , since you have around 100 , it should be enough to store everything

You should get one of those cheap A/V Cables , and then vola..you can view photos in your TV...as well

Does retail shop offer free engraving?
Cause if you buy from apple shop, you get to engrave words on ur ipod itself!
That's so cool and maybe I'm too kiasu, I just think it would be 100% original if I buy from apple shop than retail shops. Not that retail shop dun sell 100% ipod but I just love to buy equipments from its original shop.

ipod video is HDD base, not sure how robust it is. Think i will go for nano instead of ipod video. By the way, if you guy are looking for a cheap ipod video may be you can consider apple certified refurbished ipod video. It is cheaper and come with 1 year limited warranty from apple. Just search at the apple website, you should able to find it. it include ibook, mac, nano, mini...etc. 30~50% cheaper than the new one.

No, they are usually products that have been returned to Apple because of defective parts or simply wanted a refund. Apple then repairs and reconfigures them and sells 'em at a discount. They're mostly as good as new, but some of them might have some minor scratches/marks.
