Greetings Malaysian EVE Addicts,

Just thought I would pop in and say hello even though I am not currently active in EVE (just training skills on one account).

I started playing EVE back in 2003. After a few days I joined PIE Corporation (one of the oldest, still active corporations in existence) and eventually became its CEO. PIE was (and still is) an Amarr only RP corp.

While in PIE I helped found the Curatores Veritatis Alliance (CVA) in late 2003 (before formal alliances actually existed in the game) to combat ebil Minmatar terrorists. In late 2004 we decided to move CVA to low-sec near the Providence border to secure the systems from pirates, enforce civilization and claim Providence on behalf of the Amarr Empire. This was called Operation Deliverance and is the reason that CVA remains in Providence and is still a Not Red Dont Shoot (NRDS) alliance.



I was fairly active and well known in the early years on EVE. I helped organise the first ever 'real-life' EVE meet up in London (2004) and traveled to various unofficial EVE gatherings in places as diverse as Prague, Budapest, Barcelona, Copenhagen and Amsterdam - making friends all over the place. This probably contributed to my successful candidacy in the first ever CSM in 2008 when I was elected in second place bagging myself a free trip to Iceland in the process.

Have been in Malaysia for a year now and absolutely love the place - especially the food. Am hoping I can get to stay even longer.

I wish I was playing more EVE but the deadly combination of work and girlfriend mean that I do not have the time to even play it casually at the moment and even more sadly I do not even have a decent machine to run it on (it's in storage back in the UK)...

Anyway, will check in here from time to time - not sure if there have been any EVE Malaysia meets - but would be up for attending if one is ever organised!

If you want instant gratification type of game, then EVE is probably not it. It's going to be the first game you play where you have to do a lot of reading as the game is very in-depth, has open ended content (basically there's no ending and you can do whatever you want) and  most activities are player driven (wars, politics, sabotage, farming, etc all depends on players, so if you want a scripted play, this is not it).

As some of the others have mentioned, learning curve for EVE is very high and it's a love or hate relationship with the game. Either you love it or hate it, nothing in between.

On that note, most of us has been playing for years (off and on). I've played numerous other MMO's including WOW. I always come back to EVE at some point.
