Today had a near crash experience, being squeezed out of road at a round-about by an oblivious driver. A silly mistake from a noob like me, next time, must give way to the Tai Kor busy bird watching at DPC. He was enjoying himself too much to notice my handle bar scraped his rear fender. So the lesson learned..for people out there.
1) never expect them to pay attention to a cyclist over some chicks.
2) Chicks plus x-factor, can be harmful to a cyclist or just about anything, if you happens to be at a wrong place at a wrong time.

any physical object is not good for cyclist... whether it is it hitting you or you hitting it because of another object hitting you...

by choosing belt drive... you are limiting yourself to singlespeed and fixie bikes...

haven't seen em here before... only the fixie guys would know if they exist in KL...

replacement belt would be my primary concern even if i can get one...

use internal gear hub can what....

actually grease and oil is every where lar... as it is an essential thing in moving parts... eventually, it will ooze out from the freewheel mechanism from either a singlespeed or internal geared hub anyway unless you get a fixie...

internal gear also not cheap... saw those foldie buggers paying 4 figures for a complete set and you need their shifter some more...

2nd grade lube? lube is lube... it is just brand preferential...

yes, most bike shop has it... for degreaser, you can use RP7 or WD40 to degrease if you are not willing to spend on those Pedros citrus degreaser or muck off products...

lube, as i say is preferential... but typically there is 2 types... wet and dry... wet for wet as in MTB type of mud and grimy wet which is usually stated or just riding in rain and stuff... dry is for dusty conditions and stuff like that...

try 2 or 3 brands and see which one you like and then stick to that...

Hello guys, I'm a newbie here and want to ask sifu about seatpost.

Currently I'm using a 27.2 mm seatpost that has a length around 3++ mm like that. I'm a tall guy and the length of my current seatpost is giving me backache. Really bad.

So, by changing the length of my seatpost to 400 mm will it ever help my backache or not?

And by buying a much wider seatpost (30.9 mm or 31.6 mm) will it fit into my bicycle? Or I just need to change the seat clamp?

having all the bikes at the same weight is also not really making every bike the same... one bike might have a lighter set of wheels with all the ceramic bearings and techno whistles and a chunky frame while the other might be saving watts with an aero shaped wheel at the expense of lightweight while still staying within the same weight limitations... the bikes have already grown to the point that it could be so light that mechanics have to start adding leads to their bikes or use heavier parts just to meet the UCI weight limits... it's a matter of throwing weight around nowadays...

fulcrum racing 3 - spokes are not as expensive as R1 or R0... but at local price here of almost RM1.8k... i might be thinking of upping my limit to fit the R1 in as the R1 is stiffer with the broad aluminum spokes, not necessarily a whole lot lighter but the stiffness makes a difference if you need it.. replacement spokes on the R3 are more expensive than conventional spokes but not as bad as R1 and R0 which is over RM50 per piece...

mavic ksyrium elite - would be the most sensible wheel for the price paid, spoke replacement might be a worry if you don't have a mavic shop nearby and it might not be as cheap as normal spoke although not exorbitant in price. I think price of SLS (SL is no longer available in 2013 range i believe) might be out of question unless you are willing to increase until beyond RM2k...

campy zonda - problem of having to invest in an extra shimano freehub if your shop does not have one already built with shimano freehub (which they are mostly not) due to it being built for riders running campy components, quite light but not worth price paid

shimano c24 -  don't think a new set is within your budget... the ones we see sold at RM1k - RM1.5k on BBS are stolen sets from shimano factory in johor. New ones especially C24 is much more than that....straight pull spokes reportedly weak with bulky riders and a pain to replace... not sure because of availability or price... for KL, it is both...

ea 90sl - reportedly a very tough wheel with 28r/24f spoking and quite feathery, heard of problems with the hub end cap tension adjustment... but not sure if it is true... and for the price of over 700 USD... makes you consider alternative options

the best is to know if the wheelset is well supported nearby or the shop you visit since lightweight wheelset tend to be less durable and you might want to be mentally prepared when shit happens... spoke breakages are more common in people who don't take care of their wheels... dented rims would mean immediate death, unless your shop stock up on replacement parts.. bearings would be the last to go and mostly due to natural reasons...

i think it is safe to say any of your listed wheels are confirmed a better than your alex wheels... in terms of both rolling resistance and also spin up rate...aero characteristics i would not demand much since no alloy wheels have more than 30 mm of height or it will be massively heavy and negate the purpose of the upgrade in the first place... and 30mm might not make much difference compared to a 24mm model...crosswind wise, unless you have some 404 or 808 type of height, i don't think it's a worry or safe to say you won't become another andy schleck...you might have to put some thoughts on what you prioritize...lightweight or aero? the unfortunate thing is alloy wheels will always not be aero...

or you can look into SRAM S30 wheels as it has torroidal shape copied from old zipps... if it is still around...

Ouch ouch ouch just experienced my first crash since ive been riding 800+km ago.. wtf wtf wtf ... was rushing back home coz it was about to rain and it had already drizzled previously so the roads were slightly wet. Was approaching a roundabout which I go through daily and have even done so in the pouring rain before. As I was turning in the roundabout.. taking a 9 of clock turn .. I leaned in slightly and felt the front sliding and before I knew it I was on the road ... I think my right knee hit the top tube as I was falling and majority of the force was taken by my right wrist and right knee as I crashed onto tarmac ... bike looks OK and after giving it a look over I noticed the right bar tape near the drops are torn/scratched .. front right brake lever also ate tarmac ... rear derailleur looks fine ... majority of the impact was taken by the right pedal ...

Now right wrist and knee hurts like f*** .. just glad that there wasn't any car close to me when that happened
