Frequently Asked Question on what kind of bikes to get:

1) Aluminum bike - 10 speed Tiagra (maybe mixed Tiagra - Sora), priced around RM3k up- this would be the absolute lowest point i would say to start from... any lower and you will land outside of 10speed equipment and any upgrades will certainly be more than the difference you saved not buying this bike.. shimano launched tiagra with 10speed beginning of this year making this a considerable choice... also, this grade of bike will have a more common grade of cockpit (handlebar, stem, seat post, saddle) and cheaper wheels

2) Aluminum bike - 10 speed 105 (maybe mixed 105 - Tiagra), priced around RM3.8k up- most likely the same frame above with a different paint livery, this would be an entry level into shimano's definition of competition components... tiagra would be what they called the top tier among the enthusiast group.. although both 10 speed... but materials and feel... tiagra has a shift indicator while the 105 does not hence giving you a pro feel (what the bike shop will tell you)...mostly.. tiagra has a bit more plasticky bits than 105... some slightly more expensive models might even start offering slightly better wheels like mavic aksiums along with better slightly better graded cockpit...

- i would not try and go past 105 on a aluminum bike... the best brands like specialized or bmc will be selling an aluminum bike equipped with 105 for a little over RM5k... going 1 notch up into ultegra will lead you to start looking into higher end bikes as those bikes will surely creep past RM6k and most likely a mismatch between frame and component grades... you will be practically trying to pair a set of RAYS CE28N onto a Perodua Myvi if you get what i mean in car terms...

3) Carbon bike - 10 speed 105 (possibly not full 105), priced around RM7k up- this would be a foray into performance bicycles... although a carbon frame... but this are not the best carbon has to offer for 2 reasons... carbon cloth grade (less modulus, less weave, lower grade binding agents) and the man power / time needed (less complex layup schedules) to layup the carbon layers into producing a frame... basically a mass produced frame with the lowest production cost possible... not all that bad... it should still be on par if not better with the best of the aluminum frames in terms of stiffness.. basically, component should be similar or slightly better than the aluminum 105 bike depending on the price you pay...

- here i would name one which shocked me quite a bit recently... saw this Look 566...this http://www.lookcycle.com/en/int/route/velo...-bike-2013.html , but i guess a previous year model...... carbon frame with Mavic Aksium wheels... not a complete 105 with some downgraded cranks and calipers... a carbon frame with comfort geometry retailing for RM7.1k if my memory serves me right...

- price is slightly high for some people... but if you look at it...maybe under 30% more if you are looking at a Apex or 105 equipped Specialize Allez

4) free for all - death - bankruptcy - you name it...
- step into this and there will be no return...

Beside on the modern roadbike, there's also classic roadbike that worth to consider, if you're classic roadbike lover.

at best, this is considered a classic remake...

with columbus tubing at least... if there is any chance that anyone still makes a bike with reynolds 531 tubing, even better...

it has to be small round tubes and lugged in order to qualify as classic...

Lance Armstrong exclusive interview

another exclusive armstrong interview... why would they call it exclusive when oprah's interview was already exclusive???

exclusivity is invalid

QUOTE
CN: Did you protect Dr. Ferrari during your confession?

Armstrong: I wasn't 'protecting' anyone. I was there to speak about myself, my experiences, and my mistakes. No one else. I know that goes against what we have grown used to in the last few years in cycling but I'm only interested in owning up to my mistakes. I'm a big boy and I'm not in the blame game.

game of beating around the bush... we get it... "it's not about the Dope, it's about yourself"...

QUOTE
CN: Why do you believe that a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) is the best way forward for cycling?

Armstrong: It's not the best way, it's the only way. As much as I'm the eye of the storm this is not about one man, one team, one director. This is about cycling and to be frank it's about ALL endurance sports. Publicly lynching one man and his team will not solve this problem.

i believe a physical death sentence is the only way to solve this problem

QUOTE
CN: When you came into the sport, it probably wasn't to dope, it wasn't to cheat but at what point, specifically, did you realize that was how cycling worked and that the governing body weren't dealing with the situation?

Armstrong: My generation was no different than any other. The 'help' has evolved over the years but the fact remains that our sport is damn hard, the Tour was invented as a 'stunt, and very tough mother f**kers have competed for a century and all looked for advantages. From hopping on trains a 100 years ago to EPO now. No generation was exempt or 'clean'. Not Merckx's, not Hinault's, not LeMond's, not Coppi's, not Gimondi's, not Indurain's, not Anquetil's, not Bartali's, and not mine.

now "it's not about the bike, it's about everyone not competing clean"...

it can't be RM2.50 per class rite... the membership to the gym would have at least cost close to RM1xx per month...

+ petrol
+ parking
+ time you lost making side income
+ time and chance you lost to take a good rest
+ additional money you need to spend taking supplements or protein shake at the gym bar
+ the emotional damage cause by thinking why you can never own that ass that you are staring the whole RPM session
+ psychiatrist fees which is not cheap, if you fall into depression over-thinking about that ass you longed for so long and yet you could not have it...

so... it's not cheap in short...

it's a big un-escapable loop you see...

you pay to get in which in theory is the smallest of damages, and the asses in the RPM classes will bind you emotionally to the RPM class so much that you won't be able to leave it like it is a drug addiction and even if they increase price, you keep on returning and returning...so you get sucked deeper and deeper into the belly of the beast...

like vin_ann... now aiming to complete 32 classes so he can stare at those asses straight for 3 hours in a special class that needs qualification to get in... he is getting suckered into it...

what is the worst thing that can happen if i buy a doraemon??? buy another one???

just quit it and the extra money can be spent on funding upgrades or a new bike. no more envious stare at others' bikes or complaining of insufficient fund... no need to challenge others anymore... no more pressure...

just a friendly community service reminder

now im stopped at 18th class. im was like awake from nightmare... no point chasing 32 sessions just to be in the 3 hours ass staring class... i better go running / cycling for 3 hours to get much better satisfaction !

other people are dam bloody free, they have completed 32 sessions and now they going for another 32 sessions!
