i was also targeting at K-30, since is same APSC format with K-5, so not much diff when come to image controlling and bokeh and DOF, but i certainly miss the top panel lcd if take K30. but i would thumbs up for K30 exterior quality even though its painted in blue or 'Star Wars Stormtrooper's White" its polycarbonate body is so much better than the Canny 1100D and Nikky D3200...

is true that cant actually borrow lens from others, but even the 18-55mm kit lens serve me well and is small and i just like its macro power...

btw, any idea i where can get the old K5 and around what price, is discontinued edi right? but seems like major camera shop didnt even sell pentax also...
cheers and happy shooting!

check HERE for second hand K5 price :-)

I have use canon camera for few years (that time was 350D with EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 USM lens), now using pentax K5 for past 2 years with all the lens as in the link above. My thought on camera body: K5 is much more solid build than canon and nikon, and have smaller size yet it is not compromise on the handling, and it is weather proof. To take a beautiful picture, i think the camera body does not matter much, important is you have a very good quality lens.

I choose pentax K5 because i need to advance my skill, that time canon 60D is not a match compare K5 (in term of build and picture quality), thus i choose K5 and bought a tamron f2.8 zoom lens (as i already used to constant aperture zoom lens). Then i added a old manual 50mm lens. Both lens serve me well and i have no regret choosing K5, and i love the ISO80, picture taken with ISO80 is so beutiful!

Like other as mention, you will have difficulty buying used lens in malaysia, and also not many ppl using pentax and you can't "borrow" or test lens before you invest. But that is why you join pentax group and the outing, so that you can have a group of ppl sharing the same gear and you can test use it on the spot :-) But if you like manual focus and shoot portrait , you can easily bought a m42 screw mount lens with cheap price and have a very good quality picture.

here are some photo taken with the camera and lens

My guess is more. Much more than he is selling for. The body alone should already be around 3k minimum.

I wonder what you are changing to now or if you are giving up the hobby or what happened. Going for full frame...?

Haha, more than RM3K two year back. But that time I am working in singapore thus bought the set in Singapore (kit set with 18-135mm) later sold the kit lens and bought tamron.

That time only have 1 child so easy to carry around the camera while outing, furthermore still working in Singapore so quite safe. Now working in Malaysia and have two children makes me tired when carry the camera during outing coz need to take care of my children and my camera as well (u know Malaysia now, kidnapping cases increase and thief everywhere). So thinking of changing to smaller camera and later when my kid grown up then come back to dslr again, when that time come back then it willb full frame smile.gif

haha! spotted 350D! that time that body is so good even with the panel display for shooting condition..which then removed in 400D...sad case, making entry level canon more entry...
is true pentax has better build quality and somewhat even surpass in most of the aspect...
quite sad this time CEX pentax didnt join and third party lens manufacturer didnt even care for pentax also (i mean didnt bring pentax stock...) kinda leave pentax user in the dust
but i saw the Pentax Efina and Pentax MX-1 on sale...
for the set you selling, wanna ask how much you have invested in when buying new?

yaya, i miss the panel display as well. I still have the 350D but i pass to my brother to use it. Solid camera and still working well until now :-)

Actually Third party lens do care for pentax, only that it will come later comapre to Canon/Nikon and sony mount ( I think it is a good thing since new lens might have performance/production issue, so canon/nikon/sony users all become white rat to test it before it gets really mature, then pentax user will have less problem version, haha). Also and not much shop in Malaysia selling it. But you can easily find it in Singapore. That is why if you are in singapore you will not headache going for Pentax.
