QUOTE(kadajawi @ Sep 18 2013, 11:39 AM) I'm waiting for second hand ones to appear on the market i talked to william. he said that he will try to get more similar promos like this later. because he referred to this sale as promo, i think it will return to its normal RM999 later. But my 50 1.8 is pretty much effed up... Tons of dirt inside the lens, aperture ring not working and can only focus to a maximum of 3 meters or so |

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Sep 22 2013, 01:41 PM) And I was worried that there'd be not enough people going to the JB event... how many of them are actually from JB?![]() Anyone got any info on how long that 50mm promotion will last? Hmm... really tempted. And can we only get it from Pentax2u? not just from pentax2u, can get it directly from the supplier too. this is the form https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=640...elevant_count=1 This post has been edited by azerak: Sep 23 2013, 03:24 PM |

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Sep 23 2013, 03:58 PM) I don't know... when I wanted to sign up there were already too many. if you want those things on your 50mm lens, i suggest it is better to get the Pentax F 50mm 1.7, around RM700-800. The DA 50 1.8 has a plastic mount? No quick shift focusing? Mhh... I think I need to fumble around with it first... I shoot a lot of video, so I quickly use the AF, start shooting and continue with manual focus. That wouldn't be possible, and if the manual focusing ring isn't good... Wait. No distance scale?! At this point I don't think I even have to look at the lens anymore. That is pretty much a deal breaker. |

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Sep 23 2013, 04:19 PM) Yeah, but paying so much for an old non-AF lens is a bit... ridiculous, and I wouldn't mind the AF. But that Pentax F 50mm 1.7 is an AF lens, not MF lens.I mean... as long as there is a distancing scale and perhaps the hyperfocal scale I'm willing to live with it. And how much does it cost? 1 cent in ink? I find it hard to understand why they'd remove this. I guess it'd be possible to write on the lens, but selling it would be quite hard... http://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/SM...-F1.7-Lens.html |

QUOTE(delroz @ Sep 24 2013, 12:24 PM) isn't the self timer something we have to activate manually everytime? because this issue seems to happen on its own accord. someone told me the camera is "hunting for focus" although i have no idea what that means Where do you live? It is easier to show it to pentaxians who know.since i'm always looking through the viewfinder so i wouldn't know, i'll try a self potrait tonight and see if the timer light blinks or not. thanks kadajawi. |

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Sep 24 2013, 01:26 PM) But would digital filters not slow down the camera _after_ the photo was taken? Hm. I have seen shots from DA on slr, it looks ok so i assume it can be used on future ff. Do I get this right? The DA 50 will only work on APS-C cameras? The image circle isn't big enough for a FF camera? I've checked prices for the FA 50 1.7... a FA 50 1.4 is not much more than that. The DA 50 1.8 is the only affordable option thus that has AF. Still haven't had a chance to try it out... Fa 50 1.4 is quite soft at 1.4, and people who compare these lenses 1.4 and f 50 1.7 said the latter is sharper. |

QUOTE(delroz @ Sep 24 2013, 03:30 PM) haven't shown it to anyone yet, just discovered this problem a couple weeks back. find it weird because if it's shutter speed related, then the view finder will black out while the mirror is "opened". but the viewfinder can still see through during the 10-15 seconds delay, and then suddenly "ka-chak"!!!. it is quite difficult because we cant really see the camera right now.it is either you record a video of it happening or you meet some pentaxians around your area.i tried it on mountains, buildings, indoor, people, etc. and still have the same problem. I believe it's something to do with advance settings because when it's on P mode or SCN mode it's ok. i was meddling with all the settings one night and then this happened, but i forgotten what i set hoping someone could give me an idea on what happened. |

The k3 is available for pre order now. Pay rm100 now and pay the balance when price is confirmed. Check pentax2u. I expect the local price to be rm3999. Anyone going to klpf this weekend? The k3 and the hd limited lenses are there.

QUOTE(flamephotography @ Oct 11 2013, 10:29 PM) For fellow Pentaxian who is looking to grab the K-5 IIs, I think the KLPF is giving a good deal for it. Its going for RM 3,195.00 body only. But you will have to purchase a magazine that is RM 10.00. you have gone to the DSC world booth?what else do they have?Cheers....... |

i think what they focus more on K-3 would be its video functions, with more dedicated video functions.in terms of video functions, i figure it would be much better than its predecessor.

QUOTE(wuwah @ Nov 1 2013, 07:29 PM) only DA 50mm F1.8.. or at most, might be Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM if I manage to save some more my money. is it good? I saw great prices in mudah (1.4k). but Pentax2U price for sigma quite expensive thats good.but the most value for money now would be the DA 50 1.8. Unless you can get the sigma for less than 1k. |

QUOTE(wuwah @ Nov 1 2013, 10:04 PM) yeah, I kinda like the performance of the sigma in low light/indoor based on various review I read. actually dunno how if compared to DA 50mm 1.8. haha.. any experience? i have never used the sigma 50mm but i have the da 50mm now and i really like it compared to pentax fa 50 1.4 that i used to own. |
