Question here..

I'm planning to use sand as substrate for my razorbacks and I've been doing a lot of research on what sand to use. Heard that play sand or pool filter sands are good. Couldnt find play sand but i found pool filter sand.

I've found one shop selling pool filter sand and was wondering if its safe to use. I know i have to wash it beforehand as well.
Below is the link to the sand i saw..

Why cant we just get some sand from the beach [ eg Port Dickson beach [ beautiful sand ] , soak in tap water for a few days , then only use as substrate

Not exactly sure why but i assumed its cos thousands of people have walked on it and i wouldnt wanna risk having harmful chemicals on the sand for my turtles (given that Malaysians like to throw rubbishes everywhere)..

hello here!

i just adopted 2 red eared sliders last week and gave them a slightly bigger home (nothing more than just a container actually) and they look more happy now  rclxms.gif

after reading more from the internet, i'm thinking to get them a basking light with a basking station.

i wonder what kind of basking light is recommended for a very young RES and where can i buy them? (Lazaxx or TaxBax link is fine if it is not against the rule here  tongue.gif )

i just went to a pet shop today and saw some basking lights for the iguanas and dry tortoise but the staff told me they're not for "wet tortoise" so i'm kinda lost what kind of basking light i should buy for them.

any advise?

I'm using the 50w Daylight Basking Spot from Exo Terra for heat (UVA) for my turtles..its about rm19 for one..as for the UVB, i bought the Exo Terra Reptile UVB100 bulb..not sure if its 13w or 25w ..costs about rm50 for one bulb =.=

and FYI, dont listen to the staff from pet stores..they dont know what they're talking about..i once asked about water filter and bulbs from an aquarium shop and they said turtles dont need filters or bulbs..clearly they dont know much..
