I would say no , the golden thread turtle might lose its tail !! Cheers

QUOTE(Unknown0302 @ Jun 1 2013, 12:53 AM) Hi sifus, I am a new tortoise lover and i currently having 4 cherryheads (2-4 inchs). I have so many queries because I dont know whether i do it right or wrong. I feed them with lettuce, long bean, and a lil mix with mazuri as well. i found that they likes long bean the most, they eat less on lettuce and mazuri. is it cactus pad necessary? other than that, is it necessary to put UVB lights if i take them sunbath daily in my garden, they eat weeds and leafs when they walk around the garden. where to buy the UV light with a pin so than i can pinned it on my tank. what is the requirement of the heat and UV of the bulb? I put sands (medium big size, kasar) in the tank, i found that the sands will easily stick in their body and caused to the food become dirty. is it ok if they unintentionally eat the sands?will them be sick? because i can hear some sound when they yawn or poop. please give me some advice sifus. Cherry are tropical sp and being a jungle sp they dont really bask in sun like other drier grassland sp !! Change the sand as soon as possible - use coco coir or tree bark sold by exoterra ..... Cheers |

My sliders are coming along nicely since I last posted
The first slider is continuing to shed and is revealing healthy scutes underneath. The second slider is starting to shed too - one of his scutes is peeling. I just bought another platform to give the third slider room to bask and shed... hopefully in a few months I can see signs of progress with this one. For their diet I'm feeding assorted veggies daily, and Hikari pellets. I'm looking for economical options for the pellets as it is too expensive to buy 100ml bottles of turtle food. I moisten the pellets and dust them with Exo-terra calcium+D3 before feeding. I'm using a feeding basin now as clorophyll from the vegs leeches into the water turning it green and ugly. Now I know why the Kek Lok Si temple turtle pond looks the way it is. The tank water stays really clear now, with close to zero ammonia/nitrite, but nitrate levels are always off the test charts despite weekly 50% changes. They are best left alone when they feed. I tried planting duckweed in a separate tank under the sun. It was a productive tank and provided some supplementary food. However, there was too much maintenance involved so I gave it up. If I can find a way to grow it in the turtle tank I'll consider trying it again. |

Guys, I found two live worms in my filter. Is this anything to be concerned about?
They were red, very thin, and about 1cm long. |
