Nasim sold 2,800 units of Peugeot cars in 2010, 5,400 units (2011) and was aiming to sell 9,300 units(2012) but reported only 6,500 actual in 2012.

Not bad lah a 20% jump in sales, but could do better-one thing they really need to overcome is the financing part IMHO, what they have done in Nov/Dec 2012 is a good sign (staggered financing), so the effect is seen even here -the exponential growth of Pug 408 owners, see how the owner list has grown. thumbup.gif  rclxms.gif

Too bad they're slow to bring in the 208, else the figure would be better i assume. But hey too bad la, malaysia is like dumping ground for old cars. Just look at 206/207 here.

Just curious. I remember quite a while ago owners were saying that gear changes constantly at 2600rpm. Is it still the same now after months of ownership, or has the gearbox adapted to your driving style ie gear change dynamically

I think the gearbox programming is slightly different than 508. My gear change depends on condition of the road. On a slope it will hold till 2500-2600 before change, while on level road it usually shifts around 2000. I guess that makes the slight difference in FC between 408 and 508, and also 508 is slightly lighter despite being bigger

Yes. They charged RM90+ for alignment n balancing. They said they overlooked it and apologise.

Dont worry, you're not the only one who discovered balakong SC is dishonest. I've experienced the same thing quite a while ago when I sent my car there. Great thing is that you can see exactly what they're doing because of the big window facing the repair bay, and yet they got the balls to lie. Peugeot cars are good, but the distributor here, Nasim and its dishonest SC make things look bad. I cant wait till my warranty is over so I can send to some workshop that actually knows what they're doing.

I just cancelled my servicing booking to different service center. Previously booked at Balakong but after hearing the bad stories, booked CSL. Balakong really need to educate their staff, when I called, and said wanna cancel booking, the recep just hung up the phone without asking further details or acknowledging. That is just bull
*
Boss, CSL one is not much better. Better double or triple check your appointment date confirmation as they can simply call you up on the appointed date and tell you "no engineer" and reschedule your visit rolleyes.gif I kena before, well my wife actually because I was overseas so my wife drove the car there on my behalf.

Some more they say got software update for my car, but happens to be "system down" on that day and say will call me back to continue with the software update. Many many moons later, I still havent get a single call rolleyes.gif

Like I said before, peugeot cars are good. It's the SC/distributor that ruins the whole experience shakehead.gif

Mileage just around 26k. Actually I also dunno where to send to since they're all the same anyway, so I cincai whack balakong la I guess.

I read through autoworld forum and found:

- A few ppl having steering noise
- A few ppl having door sensor problem
- A LOT of ppl having suspension squeeks
- As for directional headlamp problem, seems to be isolated case as I'm the only one having this doh.gif Maybe too much rempiting up genting brows.gif

About why I'm still happy, well nothing I can do right? Cry also no use la haha. If problem keep popping up then no choice but to change car la. But lets see how it goes from here smile.gif

sad.gif such a beautiful car though

I think probably it's because this is a relatively new model, so probably over time production process for newer units would be more refined? From what I see early batches/release of car models are usually more problematic. I still remember when BMW E60 and E65 were first release there's quite a lot of complains on it.

Just to ask, is the 208 official launched? Show car and test drive unit available in show room? Really wanna molest this beauty.
*
I think can test drive in bukit tinggi klang. I already did a round of test drive in kampung pandan branch, same place where I bought my 508.

Gearshift a bit jerky, and when you gun the throttle memang tarak kick at low revs but once it goes around 3000+ you can feel a sudden pull, but not too urgent. Seems a good car, just the center arm rest can be a bit annoying since it's blocking the handbrake lever. Gotta raise the arm rest to properly reach the lever.

Steering wheel is really micro-sized, and the meter clusters is located above the steering. Need some getting use to as all the cars I driven before this, all meter clusters are behind the steering wheel.

Road noise insulation is relatively good, but I dont know if the same could be said if it's anything faster than 90kmh. Overall, quite impressed. Wife also likes it. Probably getting it for the wife late of this year. For sure couple months down the road they will be giving discounts or some other promo. Already felt cheated being first batch 508 buyer, where I only get 3 years warranty and 0 discount so I'm gonna take my time this time around.

Went to test the 408 and 508 yesterday.

308 Griffe looks great but no backside, I remember test driving it a year ago, remember the engine wasn't quite fast doh.gif

408 tested yesterday, SA told me same engine as 308 so my expectations was low, slam the gas when there was an open road I was pleasantly surprised it moves alot rapidly than the 308T i tested last year feeling much more like a VW GTI than a slow-mo Preve on pickup. I didn't like the ugly exterior, no paddle shift spartan steering which is heavy and ancient ICE. Yup, a value buy C-segment indeed if you can look past those faults.

508 using same engine wasn't as rapid on pickup, feels i have to spend more fuel to get it moving, the HUD isn't exactly centered eventhough I'm sitting perfectly straight. Exterior looks better but I'd prefer the drive on the the 408.

If only the 408 looks as good as the 508, then they got a big winner.
*
It's a matter of gearbox characteristic that makes the drive feel different. Also the 408's engine tune is slightly different giving higher bhp.

About HUD, mine looks centered and you can adjust the vertical position of it.

C=segment would be:

Honda Civic
Honda Civic Hybrid
Toyota Altis
Toyota Prius
Nissan Latio
Nissan Sylphy
Mazda 3 Hatch/Sedan
Mazda 3 MPS
Hyundai Elantra
Kia Forte
Kia Forte Koup

Mazda 6 = D segment
Honda Insight = B segment
was there an upgrade in gearbox?
older 308T using 4AT now 308T and 408T using 5AT?  hmm.gif
*
No. Both 408T and 508 also using 6AT. I mean difference as in gearbox programming. From the feedback of 408 owners, the shifting point and character of both 408/508 seems quite different. 508 seems to cling to higher gear whenever possible, giving you the sluggish feel when you gun the throttle. Believe or not, even in traffic crawl my 508 is always in 2nd gear until it comes to a complete halt.

The way to solve this is to switch to sports mode, but then it only shifts when you reach like 3k+ rpm. So err, I'd rather leave it in normal mode and let feel sluggish laugh.gif

Which mean the gear change at lower RPM on 508? No wonder lots of feedback that 508 underpowered.
*
Yup, it changes gear real quick sometimes below 2000rpm. But I've been driving for more than a year so already got used to the character of it. Everytime I wanna overtake, I'll drop a gear or two before gunning the throttle

QUOTE(zenix @ Apr 17 2013, 04:10 PM)
That's yummy  drool.gif
Older 308T is using 4AT is it? I really had a bad impression when I first test drove it early last year.
I heard same engine and gearbox in 308, 408 and 508  nod.gif
There should be tweaks as it has to compensate for extra weight in 408 and 508  nod.gif
maybe you should have gotten the 508GT  brows.gif

Got this car back in Oct/Nov 2011. First batch only got 1 model of 508 which they call "Premium" in the current offering. Asked the SA whether GT is coming or not, and SA say not coming, so I just buy this as there's no other choice.

I see that the current 508 has got heated seats, where as mine doesnt. I dont mind the missing feature as it now leaves a hole in the center console so I can put my phone there

My boss has a 508 premium and we went for a drive on both of our car, and my boss just says "why your 408T is so powerful?"
Both of us agree that 508 is for aimed for comfort and 408 is more naughty. tongue.gif

Personally, I like 508 more than 408, but I can only 408 tongue.gif
Go for it, take 508 if you can afford, super comfort car.

By the way, I talked to one of the 508 folk in the service centre and he told me Merc C class bang into his rear, nothing happened to 508 but Merc almost lost the radiator.
*
I can testify that the 508's ass is indeed really hard. I once accidentally reversed into a wall and heard a loud thud. Got down from my car to check out the damage, and surprise surprise bumper still in good shape, just a little bit of scratch mark. The brick on the wall cracked with small bits and pieces fallen off laugh.gif

Also another time i tried to squeeze into a small parking lot and nudged a kancil parked infront. Kancil dented, my car just got a tiny scratch. Damn I do feel sorry, but the kancil is already in a bad condition and it looked like it's gonna fall apart any time.

QUOTE(jfcheong @ Jul 1 2013, 11:20 AM)
Due to the GB setting also.
408T tend to shift gear at a higher RPM, while 508 shift gear at lower RPM.
Most of the time 508 shift to higher gear as low as 2K RPM.
But 408T shift gear around 2.7K RPM so you can feel that 408T's power is always there. Prepared to accelerate all the time.
508 also can get the power, but need to shift down the gear manually.  smile.gif
*
True, 508's gearbox tend to shift too early. Even in start-stop traffic it's always in 2nd gear, until you come to a complete halt.

My advise to lethalyellow, just go with whichever model that suits your budget best. Dont over stretch your budget, and always have some ammo with you, these cars are relatively fragile compared to japanese counterparts. Besides, 508 costs more when replacing wear and tear parts like tires as they're 18". About FC, I find the 508 to be quite reasonable for a D-segment
