it has the best seat compared to jetta, forte, focus, civic, altis, elantra

and yes, i've tested all of them.

my colleague's 407 had been running fine since 2008 with no breakdowns and needs tow truck's help

Do anyone here did pedal lock for your lion? How much damage has been done to the wallet? Will it effect the warranty if I install a 3 point lock?

Well, i do not own a 408 but it is in my wish list (white color, smoke headlamp, black rim and maybe black rooftop)

Today my pug engine dies off suddenly while travelling at 50km/p. The aircond and radio are still functioning. Luckily not on busy road. I thought it was the battery problem. After stopped at the roadside,  I switched off the engine. I managed to switch on the engine after waited for few seconds. I tried it for few times and all attempts were successful. Was this a battery problem or fuel pump problem? Anyone has encountered this problem before?

While all are happily talking about rims....so what did the SC say about your car problem.

Probably just a ECU glitch. Not a big issue... since he able to start the car now and everything running smooth now.

HI, I have yet to send my car to SC to check. I will make an appointment with them probably end of this month or early April.  Will keep you all posted.

So far so good since last Sunday morning.

Bro jfcheong is not saying engine dying is not a big issue. It is the cause of the engine dying,that is not a big issue. That very cause has disappeared. I put forward a possible explanation which pugbunny is happy about. Further more pugbuny's car started immediately and is till now running as smooth as ever. The car was not sent to the SC, I don't think you are going to hear any different.

This has and can happen to any car! Don't let this small issue put you off buying the car.

It's a momentary loss of electrical power to ECU. For that second or two the ECU goes dead. These things do happen,but not often, to electronic units. There are remedies but are very expensive.  Reliability of power delivery has improved tremendously in the last decade. So many of the remedies are considered dated in the automotive industry. Simple solutions within the ECUs are now done,if there is a reoccurrence!

engine died again after traffic light, this time unable to start back
have to tow back to sc.
break down at 3:30PM, n call to careline
technician reach at 5:30PM, they cant settle, then arrange tow truck.
tow truck reach at 7:40PM
nearly 9PM only settle my car at sc

No la,it's not that serious. I would be lying if I told you it will never happen. Look at it this way. There are roughly 80 408 owners registered in this forum. It's almost a year of wonderful,exciting ownership for us early buyers. Out of the 80 only 2  experienced this,that too it has been a one time issue. No one is saying the engine died, can't start at all, now in workshop!  Like I said it was just an electronic glitch!

Putting it in another way. Will you say you will not drive cos there are too many accidents on Malaysian roads!

I don’t think it got to do with the driving mode selection. This is what I gathered from other forums on 308.
 
“Pug uses lots of uses lots of amperage due to the electronic system and requires high amp batteries. Even hydraulic power assisted steering needs electricity to operate???. If you always drive in traffic jams or for a short distance, the alternator does not have long time enough to recharge the battery. That is the reason why battery died prematurely. Some of 308s don' t have battery problem if normally driven long distance and outside cities.
 
As for the new Lion, it is advisable to check your battery condition during your first 2500km, 10k and 20k service. The indicator is not accurate. The best way to measure your battery is always using the battery health tool.”
 
Like other sifus mentioned in the earlier posts, it’s more on the battery design flaws . I don’t understand why Nasim didn’t resolve it for our 408.

Edited - battery warranty is up to 1 year or 20,000km, whichever comes first. Right?

yes 4 hours! luckily i'm alone not with family
out side temp is 38c showed at display
after i stop my car at road side, actually i able start the car, but while rpm reah 2k then engine died, few tried but no luck.
then call to careline, i told them the situation n mention to them not like a bat problem, request tow, but they ask me wait technician to check 1st.
after technician arrive, he try to start n knew cant do any thing with this, just call back to center request towing.

while i'm waiting our technician, police setup road block in front few meter of me....
the police come to me,
police: kenapa berhenti disini?
me: kereta rosak
police: betul keh? (look like not trust me)
me: betul, tak tadap start
police: kereta baru?
me: ya baru 6 bulan.
police: ok

after 40min+-, police come again
police: u ada call foreman tak?
me: sudah call
police: ok

another 15min come again
police: u punya foreman tak datang lagi?
me: yalo
police: kita sudah mau balik, good luck
  really di malukan

ahui is one of the 2/ 80. He did experience engine die and startup,if i'm not mistaken. Ok this is a more serious problem. I think I did say monitor your engine,if it happens again,take it to SC. It could be a number of things. My gut feel is ECU feedback sensor failure. Lets wait for SC diagnostic and remedy.

ok....my car still in SC now
what they did:
test the bat, bat no problem
reset ECU, but no work
clean the valve body, no work
found a error from computer, engine speed sensor faulty, replace a new sensor. also no work.
until now, dun know what is the problem.
n tomorrow they will check for the BSI n others, actually i dun know what is that.
still the same, engine start, no problem below 2k rpm...
a felling.....they cant fix it tomorrow or monday.
so wat to do? just wait........

Different ECU and AT!

407 has proved itself already. Get some real good bargains now. As for design,a beauty, it's timeless! If that's what you like,go for it! I would suggest 09 onwards,it's the facelift with extras technically & cosmetically!
