Out of curiosity - anyone here familiar with different tyres makes, quality, prices, what their relative differences? In the context of the 408T. Has anyone done research into this, or know a good write up to share with the group?

QUOTE(Termibait @ Jul 4 2013, 10:07 AM) Help needed here. My default insurance provider when i bought the car was Kurnia. That's a good question to ask the SC and the insurer - since these cars should be fixed at their respective SCs - is there any issue when it comes to insurance claims in future (hopefully never needed in the first place). Between which insurer is better, as we need to repair at SCs, then the best choice is the insurer who recognizes peugeot SCs as repair centres. Need to find out on that though.I m in the dilemma of choosing insurance companies for my 408t. insured amount suggested to me was rm105k. wimdscreen rm3000. now, etiqa, tokyo mRine, kurnia (fisrt yr under kurnia), or any better insurance company I can choose? As peugeot insist owner to bring in their cars to peugeot centre for repair. I am wondering which insurance company would be hassle free to choose given the criteria of sending my car to SC is compulsory. Appreciate your help. thanks. jack |

QUOTE(Termibait @ Jul 5 2013, 04:45 PM) I m not sure abt that, anyone could verify? glad to hear you car is ok now man. Collected my car yesterday. Acceleration was superb, not as sluggish as before eventhough turbo boost was considered functioning then. total cost is rm145000. I wonder why so expensive as they just change this. (Attached photo). Ans some gssket and labour cost. meanwhile, I strongly suggest you all to check ur turbo. It may still function but compression is not enough. That was what I felt and semt to SC for checking. I feel like organise a day trip to genting highland. Anyone? btw i think you have an extra "0" in your cost. |

QUOTE(vijay14 @ Jul 9 2013, 01:33 AM) Hi guys, Congratulations! Loving the number plate I'm a proud owner 408 NA. Just got it less than a month. Glad to join this forum. FYI, already done with my 2500 first inspection in Puchong service center. I had lost of power on my car. Couldn't go up Genting smoothly. Complained to the SC and they replaced my battery. Now, performance back to normal. Didn't take long to get my car done. Roughly about 1hr 15 mins. Glad it was quite fast. So far, service seems OK in Puchong service center. Let's wait and see on my first service |

QUOTE(jfcheong @ Jul 9 2013, 10:29 AM) S mode actually doesn't increase the hp. It play with ur gear ratio and RPM. While activating S Mode, ur RPM will stay at higher ratio and ur gear tend to only shift to another higher gear at higher RPM. I realized the Sports mode is quite useful for long downhill sections when you dont want the car to automatically shift up to a higher gear, and having to keep using the brakes. Alternatively is the tip tronic manual control. It worked great for a section of the Karak, but I'm not sure about steeper and narrower places like camerons etc. Any experience/advice to share from those who went on the recent camerons road trip? You will notice usually gear change at around 3K RPM, but in S mode, gear change at 5K to 6K RPM. Activating S mode, ur car is always at a lower gear, higher RPM. The power is always there, save the time to drag the RPM. Thus you can accelerate faster. IMHO, S mode is useless at high way drive, as you don't need the sudden pick up. But this is quite usefull in one lane road that you always need to overtake others cars. |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Jul 23 2013, 10:00 AM) Glad you asked this question. I did a fair bit of research before deciding to buy the 408t. Actually it's not the turbo, but rather the engine itself. Hi skyjack, do you mind sharing some of the research that you have done on the 480t? I'm curious to know more as well. If you can point us to the sources of your info where we can read up ourselves would be great! All direct injection engines suffer from premature carbon buildup. Many of the early 308t suffer from this problem badly. As a result several measures have been adopted to combat this problem. One of the measures is to run the car at speeds above 110kmh periodically. The Prince engine on our 408t carries 8 mods addressing reliability issues. This engine/gearbox is proving reliable and not exhibiting problems faced by early pugs. Nevertheless I can't resist the temptation of unleashing my Lion every chance I get! I won't say you have to run this car fast, but i seriously doubt if you can resist the addiction. Thanks man. |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Jul 23 2013, 04:32 PM) There's lots of information on the net about carbon buildup problem on direct injection engines. Just Google it. Sorry bro I didn't save any of it,so don't have the reference. Thanks bro. Now i finally know what EP6CDTM is!I did make a note of the mods on the EP6CDTM,which is the engine on the 408t,here it is: 1) Engine tuned to run on RON 87 petrol 2) Remapped ECU 3) New designed piston with lower compression 4) New designed catalyzer 5) New engine oil filter housing with heat exchanger 6) New turbo charger 7) New fuel tank gauge unit with lower pressure pump to handle lower grade petrol. 8) A fuel filter to cater for hash atmospheric condition ( third world country) Bro lowpro, here I go again, spreading the good word! |

QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Jul 30 2013, 03:53 PM) Driver a turbo car doesn't gives you the right to drive like a sakai and start tailgating. Drive safely people, we don't want to hear sad news of any of us here meeting with a serious accident, or injuring/killing someone else.and some are so damn proud of it. Let us be known as drivers with "class". |

QUOTE(MGM @ Aug 19 2013, 02:16 PM) After searching thru the web and this thread, found that most dealers offer rm8-9k discount, but a couple can offer rm12-15k off. Wonder why the differences? Pre-owned, 2012-made, showroom unit or problem unit? For me still haven't got thru the lack of confidence in Pug SC and after-sales support(as what sctang408t has gone thru) eventhough I like the car's interior and handling (to me better than d-seg cars like teana, sonata and accord) Usually if its too good to be true, its too good to be true.Though there's the occasional bargain! (maybe i'm just jealous I didn't get the 15k discount on mine =P) |

Given all the posts here has generally been about bad experiences with SA, service, battery etc, we might forget how awesome this car really is.
I drove to kuantan and back over the weekend, and I gotta say I have never had so much fun driving long distance before. The way the car attacks the turns and slopes with ease, gives you the acceleration when you want to overtake, or smoke some rempit making a pathetic attempt to tailgate you. I love the 408t. If you have a free weekend, take a drive to kuantan with it. Nice curves on the karak, then followed by long smooth straights with very minimal traffic on the east west highway. Unfortunately I think I kena saman. Again. |
