Newb questions here

1. In the manual, it says the auto door lock can be set in such a way that after the car goes above 10km/h, the lock will be enabled. I followed the manual and tried, but nothing happens. Is this applicable to 408T only? Anyone tried it before?

2. Do I need to pull out my memory stick from the USB port, because after I stopped the engine, I can still see the led indicator on my memory stick still on...

Tq.

1) Try long press on the central lock button for few seconds to activate this feature, u or SA might had disabled this by doing the same thing.

2) No need to remove the memory stick, mine was left there all the time.

I can understand you're confused with the manual book cause it happened to me as well. Some of the instructions listed in the manual book does not apply to our 408 version in Malaysia. I tried the central locked activation and it works, hence please kindly do try follow the instructions below.

1) Turn your key ignition to ON/Standby position (2nd level)
2) Press the auto lock button located on your central console panel for more than 3 seconds.
3) Now, you should be able to see the auto lock activation/ de-activation indicator appeared on your HU.
4) After completing step 1 to 3 above, when you're crusing at 10kmph. You will notice there is a red light appear on the auto lock indicator.

Hope this helps.

P/S : There is no beep sounds as per stated in the manual book cause I believe the manual book is recorded for the australia version.

Thank you bro, will try it out.

Same old issue. Yokohama problematic battery.
Waited an hour for technician.friendly guy and changed to delkor brand in 5 minute.

he even told me the passenger hinch may have a loosen screw which I checked and found what he said was true. He tighten up for me too. This is what I call work the extra mile. Got his name and shall write a recommemdation letter to peugeot tomorrow.

Guys, go check your door hinch (the black color one). I am pretty sure its loosen for most of the cars as he said it is normal, some manufacturer defect. That is why u will hear a click sound wjenever u open or close the door.

Good luck.
*
Bro ..when u said Same old issue with yokohama, does that mean u had previous bad experiences with yokohama? If so, i will avoid using it.

Hi. Just wondering is pug car good to maintain? My dad keep telling that the parts are expensive but I'm just wondering what is the probability that the car will go break down? What is the cost to fix it if parts need to be changed?
*
I think any C-segment car parts will not come cheap.

On breakdown, sometimes it depends on luck no matter what car you drive.
Wira was a very stable platform, it was already in production close to 8 years when I bought my brand new Wira. It went straight back into the SC just after 3 months. The engine was dead. It took them one month plus to fix it.

Not sure how true is it, but there was a story spreading in FB that a new civic went dead not long it was taken delivery. flex.gif

For the tripmeter, the first 'click'shows distance travelled. 2nd "click" shows 1st trip. 3rd "click"shows 2nd trip. The average fuel consumption in the 2nd and 3rd one is showing. But for the first click, the fuel consumption is only shown while the car is on the move, and it keeps changing every second. When the car is stationary, there is no reading at all.
I am driving a 2.0NA ... Software problem ? Or is it supposed to be like this?

Yes normal. Well actually theres no reading because the speed is to low for the car to calculate the fc. Basically FC is in units of l/100km, which is inversely proportional to distance, which is derived from the speed (in this case of instantaneous fc). Mathematically if its 0 speed, infinite fc lol, except when the engine's off.

wokie dokie ... i thought there is a problem.
closing to 500KM mileage now, i hope as the mileage picks up, the gear change will be smoother. Noticed that right now, from 3rd to 4th gear, it only change when the rpm hits 3000.

Even with very light foot like mine it'll shift up from 3 to 4 at 2.5krpm. I had to be lightfooted, I travel long distance about 500km every week. Sometimes i even use the tiptronic to upshift earlier.
*
nod.gif me too, using the manual mode to upshift earlier. Hopefully the GB won't spoil with my constant switching between manual and auto.

Hi, just want to share experience with my Peugeot 408 NA which I bought on August 2012.

After 8 months (March 2013) of purchase, suddenly my rear trunk cover can’t be closed. Luckily I was going out from the parking spot when this happen. So had to go straight to Peugeot service and they told me that this is a common problem for 408 model because of the faulty installation on the lock inside the trunk. They just reposition the holding lock and so far it works fine until today. When asked what other common problem, they just mentioned the rubber tends to peel off at the door which is yet to happen to me.

Last Wesak day after 10 months (May 2013) of purchase and only at 18k mileage, after fueling up at PLUS highway new Petronas station before Serdang exit (south bound), my car won’t start and my wipers slowly moving indicating this might be due to flat battery. I was very surprised because there was no alarm/indication before the battery went flat & this car hasn’t reached one year old yet.

Since it was a public holiday, they can’t engage a technician to help me out in time and I had to wait for almost 3 hours because the only available Balakong technician was fixing for another car at Gombak. Good thing that the new Petronas station has new decent restaurant outlets for my wife and 7 months old baby to rest for a while.

The technician mentioned the battery is a common problem (again!) for 408 model. The current battery provided was under power which is the Yokohama battery:

They replaced with new Delkor battery:

I’m disappointed Peugeot didn’t recall the car for minor rectification. Now I’m not sure what are the next ‘common problem’. So my advices for the new owners, just request warranty replacement for the battery and the trunk lock adjustment during your first inspection. It will save you a lot of trouble.

Without peugeot calling a recall on the yokohama battery, can we jz go to the SC and ask change it?

Gather all affected owners and sign a petition asking for a replacement.

Is that possible?

I PM Peugeot via their FB page...lets see if they reply.

Can we create a Poll in this forum, lets call it "Dead Yokohama Battery". If 50% of the owners had problem with it, do a screen shot and then put it at Peugeot's FB page to get their attention huh ???

Not cheap either for a Vios, back in 2007. How true is it, I not sure.
If indeed is true, Vios a B segment cost this much, i guess a Altis which is C segment will be more expensive?

I totally agreed with you, behcw. The moment you pay for your booking for
any Toyota, their service ctr will jump of joy because you're 99% end up
on their chopping board!

My regular 10,000km interval service cost me about RM320 with a lousy
fully-synthetic oil and the most recent 40,000km cost me RM680.

My old Citroen cost me about RM350 per 20,000km service interval with
Helix Ultra, and major service at 60,000km cost me RM880.

Worth it??? Your choice...

2 PBB SC I visited did not have alignment equipment. I'm about to get mine done at tyre shop. Did Glenmarie solve it?
*
Maybe we shud start a list of which tyre shop is 408 'friendly' so that any problems our fellow 408 owners hv reference.

oh another topic we found out is that during the first inspection aka 2500kms, SC is supposed to unlock your car's safe mode.

If there is no changes after your visit, most likely SC "forgot" to cucuk their reader to your OBD-II connector to do the magic to leash the remaining hidden talent of your car.
*
Interesting...What r the stuff that r unlock?

Yup,K5 car club thread!

Can I say the advancement in car battery is not keeping up with advancement in car electronics development? With all the electronics features in modern cars, it is consuming the battery at a faster rate?

I remember my Wira, with less electronic features, and running on non-maintenance free battery .... the battery can actually last quite long.

Wonder those T&H models are facing this battery problem?

FC will improve as your engine beds in. KL city driving is a lot of jams,I don't know if you'll get down to 9L/100km even light footed! I'm not exactly heavy or light footed,my FC is 9.6L/100KM city and 9.2L/100KM urban. Not the best FC and others do better. I guess it's all about driving styles.

However, the car is such a joy that it's really hard to be light footed. We have a few heavy foot champs here with 12L/100km,city driving! biggrin.gif
*
Mine is 2.0NA. Mileage around 1200km now. 90% KL city drive...12.2L/100km. This week I am trying with the manual shift mode...fuel consumption seems better at 11.7L/100km. I guess in auto shift mode...the gears only change at rpm2500 and from 3rd to 4th it changes at rpm3200 to rpm3500. Ita dragging the engine..n maybe causing the high fuel consumption. Errr...when will the engine starts to bed in???
