Yes i absolutely understand the urge to push it..not to mention the additional turbo boost sound which makes your foot go heavier just to hear psssstttt sound...

So what is the highest mileage achieved so far among owners here?

Saw in fb one 308vti onwer achieved 200k km from 2009

408 was introduced roughly 8 months ago only. I've just crossed 12K. Wouldn't be surprised if some of us early birds crossed 20K. Perhaps anyone more than 20k can report in!

As way too many see 408 arse as very plain Jane. So to put things in better perspective, my avatar is to show consider the alternative:  how better it would look by sticking the lion badge on a hot mama arse. So now which one would u like?

No question, your hot mama ass! tongue.gif

I see the peugeot brand up scaling can translate into higher 2nd hand value for our 408s.
*
I'm hoping the mods brought on the EP6CDTM prove to make this Prince reliable. That can be an edge for better RV!

I'd taken the 508 turbo diesel if it had come out earlier. The torque is superb, power and economy!

Any idea whats the mileage to rotate the tire? We should also do the alignment & balancing together? Or do it only while out of alignment/ balancing?
*
Advisable to rotate tyre at 10K. Alignment & balancing together.

I heard so many stories of prob-prone AL4, so just trying to take some precaution apart from ensuring yearly gear oil change...
*
The AL4 had those problems. On older gb when you engage/disengage gears, solenoid valve is energized/de-energized. This cycle if too frequent tends to shorten life span of solenoid valve and eventual gb failure. This has been rectified with our technically improved gbs. Btw the gb on the NA is AT8.

If I may say so, I think your gf has good taste, that is why she choose u?  icon_rolleyes.gif

Being an NA owner myself, I have not encountered squeaky brake prob so far, however when it gets wet, yes it is there, but it is the same for all car's disc brakes system, am told. Just try to run them dry after washing or after going through puddle of water/rains, etc.

if u want to stop them completely you can try bring 4 table fans, and fan all 4 wheels pointing at the brakes, to quickly dry them but i never try them, so don't know if will work.

My Light sensor and rain sensor is so far 90% accurate, the 10% is really sometimes, it takes a wee bit longer to activate, but that is fine for me as I am a patient man (once you upgrade from Bf-gf to Hubby Wifey status, u too will improve your patience I believe)

care to elaborate what do u mean wiper not wipe off rain effectively? Pug is designed for LHD, but u can see which gear you engage still from display in front of you, don't just see it from gear box ?

Suspension of 2.0 is comfortably set (nice as opposed to naughty) hence it is fitted with higherprofile tyres than Turbo , and the trade off is in comparison with Mazda, VW, or bimmer , it is more floaty per se. FC ? well one thing is 4 speeder Gear, another is the curb weight, so I only compare them to perhaps other 2.0 NA with 4 speeder of close similar curb weight, and afraid that combi makes it quite hard to compare with other seg C because the weight is almost a D seg car...I accept it as trade off for VERY ROOMY CAR (wheel base >2700 mm)

Good one thumbup.gif

Can we just drive in without booking ?
*
You can do that with Geouauto at PJ. Go as early as possible,it's 1st come 1st serve. Did my 1st inspection with them. I was like 3rd in the row, waited about 2hrs. Good waiting room with free coffee and WIFI,so no problem as I took my ipad along! They open at 7:30am.

Hopefully peugeot 408 as reliable as Toyota Corolla SEG 1.6. 20 years but still going well on the road as we can still see.
*
That's good wishful thinking and hope so too. However reality is, I don't think Peugeot or for that matter any conti will match up to SEGs reliability la. Contis are built on a different platform, they constantly push the boundary limits. That's what makes these cars perform excitingly. The use of electronics is at a very high level. Electronics bring about great accuracy but don't have the life span of mechanical units. Our Pug is loaded with electronics and electrotonically operated units.

I would be very glad for trouble free engine and gearbox. Later on when needed, if parts were at reasonable price. ,

Hi, I am Fimi. Just join lowyat. Been driving the 408 2.0, aster grey, since september last year. Already reaching 17K. Major problem so far, replaced the steering rack after 3 weeks getting the car, Replaced the front brake's disks and the mechanic langgar grazed my back at the Glenmarie service centre. But they had that repaired and touched up. The oil cap doesnt open unless i give it a push. All in all, its a great car. Waiting for the spoiler this weekend.
*
Yours is probably the most serious problem we've heard so far. Glad to note it's been fixed. Hope your car is running well.

Yes bro...fan normally cooling the Radiator that having hot water..then after cooling the hot water it will flow to our engine back..so i think there is no point to turn onn the fan after switch off the engine..huhuhu hope during my 1st service the Peugeot Technician / Supervisor can explain me further..
*
Bro you are absolutely right in cooling the water before it can be pumped into the engine water jackets to cool the engine. The fan at the radiator cools this water and ofcourse ram air due to forward motion of the vehicle. You have successfully cooled your Lion.

However the turbo is not happy. Turbos spin to something like 150,000rpm. I forget the temperatures generated of my head, unless I dig up my old torn notes, that too only if I find them.....hahaha! To keep the turbos cool and running happy, most use fluid bearings. A thin layer of oil is constantly pumped on to the shaft that supports these bearings. Whilst the oil cools the shaft and bearings and allows it to spin without much friction, it picksup tremendous heat. Don't forget the turbo gets up to 150,000 rpm. The heat generated here has to be cooled too. As suggested by bro jfcheang, not pushing your car the last few kilometers before reaching home helps a bit.

Older turbo cars used to have timer running the engine at idle for a few minutes to let the oil cool off. As you know, after shut down the engines ran for a while. A more effective method of cooling is to completely shut down the primary heat source,ie the engine, and cool the oil by a fan. Dissipation of heat by this method is much more efficient/faster, and does not consume fuel. Hence on our Lion the fan has to run a few seconds depending on heat level.

Hope this helps!

very useful info, very helpful to ppl like me, 1st time owning a turbo petrol car

but are turbo diesel also share the same fluid bearing in turbo? when i turn off my pick-up, it just off like a normal engine
*
All turbo bearings generate alot of heat due to the very high spin speeds. There are many ways of cooling them. On the older engines as a general rule install a timer or idle run the engine for a while before shut down.

Hhaaa... Obviously its still depend on your phone (luck)??  tongue.gif
BTW, your note II on which firmware?
*
I'm not much of a phone person. However need a smart phone to keep in touch with my mates overseas via Viber & whatsapp. Since you mentioned ice-cream sandwich works well with auto connect, was targeting mid range LG with ice-cream filmware. You say it also depends on luck.....oh boy rclxub.gif
