Went to test the 408 and 508 yesterday.

308 Griffe looks great but no backside, I remember test driving it a year ago, remember the engine wasn't quite fast doh.gif

408 tested yesterday, SA told me same engine as 308 so my expectations was low, slam the gas when there was an open road I was pleasantly surprised it moves alot rapidly than the 308T i tested last year feeling much more like a VW GTI than a slow-mo Preve on pickup. I didn't like the ugly exterior, no paddle shift spartan steering which is heavy and ancient ICE. Yup, a value buy C-segment indeed if you can look past those faults.

508 using same engine wasn't as rapid on pickup, feels i have to spend more fuel to get it moving, the HUD isn't exactly centered eventhough I'm sitting perfectly straight. Exterior looks better but I'd prefer the drive on the the 408.

If only the 408 looks as good as the 508, then they got a big winner.

It's a matter of gearbox characteristic that makes the drive feel different. Also the 408's engine tune is slightly different giving higher bhp.

About HUD, mine looks centered and you can adjust the vertical position of it.

No. Both 408T and 508 also using 6AT. I mean difference as in gearbox programming. From the feedback of 408 owners, the shifting point and character of both 408/508 seems quite different. 508 seems to cling to higher gear whenever possible, giving you the sluggish feel when you gun the throttle. Believe or not, even in traffic crawl my 508 is always in 2nd gear until it comes to a complete halt.

The way to solve this is to switch to sports mode, but then it only shifts when you reach like 3k+ rpm. So err, I'd rather leave it in normal mode and let feel sluggish laugh.gif

Which mean the gear change at lower RPM on 508? No wonder lots of feedback that 508 underpowered.

Older 308T is using 4AT is it? I really had a bad impression when I first test drove it early last year.

I heard same engine and gearbox in 308, 408 and 508 nod.gif
There should be tweaks as it has to compensate for extra weight in 408 and 508 nod.gif

Yup, it changes gear real quick sometimes below 2000rpm. But I've been driving for more than a year so already got used to the character of it. Everytime I wanna overtake, I'll drop a gear or two before gunning the throttle

Got this car back in Oct/Nov 2011. First batch only got 1 model of 508 which they call "Premium" in the current offering. Asked the SA whether GT is coming or not, and SA say not coming, so I just buy this as there's no other choice.

I see that the current 508 has got heated seats, where as mine doesnt. I dont mind the missing feature as it now leaves a hole in the center console so I can put my phone there

Older gen of 308 used 4AT which has lots of problem. Newer batch 308 is 6AT
