Would this be the turbo lag that you felt or the gear shifting? blush.gif

maybe cause by the carbon build up?

If not mistaken our tank are 55L. I tried once, drive until that indicator come out and the signal show "-- --" for mileage to refill.

Full tank 60L, the signal shows "-- --" when the remaining mileage lower than certain KM, maybe 50KM?

I drove my pug till the fuel warning came up. It said "fuel levels extremely low". The indicator at red but it said could still do another 50 km.

Pulled into a petrol station.  The full tank was only 51 litres, then auto stop. Poured in a bit more but didnt exceed 51 litres. Isnt the full tank 60 litres?

Anyone with same problem?
*
The warning comes in when back up petrol kick in.
Full tank 60L, including 7L reserved petrol.
So it will agak agak warning when 53L petrol used up, but not exactly ngam ngam de. tongue.gif

Hi all 408t owners.

I have experienced yet another sudden loss of power while driving at 60-80kph near subang parade this afternoon. This incident is the 3rd time in 2months (if I remember correctly). Its only a split second before it resumes power.
I am a little worried as tomorrow morning I will be driving to muar for "qingming". Hope my car wont halt hafl way or in the middle of nowhere in muar.

I would like to inform peugeor carcare but I m not sure how should I relay this problem/incident correctly to them. Anybody could provude useful advice will be very much appreciated.

Now clocking at 16k km.

Checked my rear rotor disc plate and found a deep line in the middle. Gonna highlight to peugeot and hope to get a replacement for free. I beliwve this has nothing to do with my driving pattern. Hehe.

Bro, IMO it is not an ECU problem. It is probably one or more sensor malfunction. The malfunction appears intermittent, which is a signal for an impending failure. It can fail anytime anywhere, and the ECU may stop functioning. Which means your engine shuts down and you'll probably not be able to start it.

I would rather have it fixed before a long journey. If you want to take the chance, you can always call up Peugeot careline. Only trouble is, alot of inconvenience. Day travel would be better!

Just came back from muar. No loss of power for 500km distance. I have made an appointment with glenmarie center.hope they could find out the problem.

Few more things noticed today.
1. When I m tuening steering wheel, I can feel somerhing is losen. (Its like a "click").

Joeaggas, I m aware of turbo lag whenever I try to accelerate or coming out from a corner.it happens when i switch from brake pedal to petrol pedal after slow down. But this loss of power is happening whike I m cruising without trying to accelerate suddenly.

Good to be reading all the experiences. Although I have to say that you guys are very active. Or is it that this is normal for a forum and that I am too slow??? tongue.gif. Anyway, just to share my 20k service with you guys. I made an appointment at the Kota Damansara since the Glenmarie SC is totally booked for at least 3 weeks. Btw, I did the service last two weeks. And I came with a few complaints and things to check after reading about a few worrying things here:

1. the wind noise at the driver side at 100km/h
2. the fuel cap wont open unless i give the cap a "slap"
3. battery check
4. tyre rotation
5. check the knocking sound in the morning

I sent the car on Thursday morning for them to check the whole thing. Got it back in the evening. They said they settled everything, but I got the car back still with all the problems except for the battery, they said its healthy. And worse, the cap wont open at all unless i use a card to pry open the cap. And during corner, I could hear some rattling sound, as if something is loose at the wheel. I was still not mad, yet. So we went back on Thursday and told them to recheck and left the car overnight so that they also can inspect the knocking sound. So, the engine knocking only sounded for a few minutes after starting and switching on the aircond. If I do not switch on the aircond, there wont be any knocking sound. So the SA said its normal. I chose to believe him tongue.gif. And the rattling sound during corner was due to some loose nuts after they did the rotation, which they didnt bother to properly check. They tightened whatever they were supposed to and no more sound after than. So we took the car back on Friday evening and being oblivious, we forgot to check the fuel cap. Once we reached home, pressed the fuel cap button and it opened, but it wont close this time. Why? The bracket thingy disappeared inside!!! By then, my wife was already pissed off. We called and arrange to send the car on Saturday. My missus insisted on getting a replacement car which at first they said the repair should only take 10 minutes. But then, they couldnt confirm it will take 10 minutes and start giving excuse that they dont have any car to give and bla bla bla. My missus didnt give a chance and said if on Saturday we come, and it will take more than 10 minutes, they better give the car or else!!! So on Saturday, I went over to send my car and without saying anything, they handed me a car key to another 408na. It was the test drive car. Hahaha, I guess they got scared and didnt even bother to explain how long it will take. So did some errand and took the car back in the evening. So, until now, everything is fine.

Good thing that the SC was not packed with cars. Hardly any cars actually.

p/s I went to check the peugeot 208 and really loved it. The question is, will I be considered crazy to be getting another pug????

And I do apologize for rambling ... hehehe

No such thing as a perfect car. But if you plan on owning continentals, then you must be prepared to deal with whatever problems that's associated with owning one. The problems highlighted so far are still considered isolated cases, that means the chances of you ending up with a problematic car is close to zero. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if peace of mind is what you are after instead of worrying day in and out about reliability, then I suggest you go Japanese instead.

Pug7980, I still do. Although I was told it is normal, I am kinda dissatisfied that they were not able to give a solid answer. Been googling around, still no answer.

it is zweimmk, pug7980.

I said this before and say it again, pug or other conti (VW, Ford, etc. etc.) is not meant for faint hearted. If you do not have what it takes to own one, well don't - u don't have to.

I will say this just to add, despite all the potential hiccups here and there. Given a choice, I would not trade in the experience of owning one pug or vw or even ford for the prospect of travelling the safer route.

You can read here how some owner despite tyre puncture, sweat and curse, still be able to laugh and joke a bout it (obvious enjoy the car ) albeit bitterweetly.

A conti car has characters, have some temperament, it is a bit like a beautiful girl fren, it will throws you tantrum sometime but in the end the reward is nice in a naughty way.
