Just got back from brotan's with the 2x2A USB AC charger. Tested working outputs both GCC readout at 1800.

Cables play a major part in the output. Offhand I can think of copper quality and strand thickness, and length. So we need "Monster" cables for our microusb  laugh.gif

Also got a compatible cable from him that was consistent at 1800.

Thanks brotan.

Yw bro. Thanks for introducing the apps to me

Btw main point with the right cables both joytest and I are getting 1800ma for both phones

Smart Dock

Attached Image

Hi joytest,

Mine not that canggih lah. lol.

anyway, just got the dock yesterday and haven't advertise yet. so note2 users are the first to have a quick snapshot of it

basically it can be used for most of the cases out there as you can see from the pic

have audio jack out, data sync port (you can connect your MHL cable here). cables + wall adapter provided

oh btw, this same dock can be used on HTC or Samsung or BB phones, so pretty universal

cheers

That smart dock is not 2A I supposed?
*
Hi fruitie,

not sure you are referring to which one but if that samsung original smart dock I am not sure. but mine tested GCC is 900mA even with ori 2A charger because this is supposed to be universal dock for all micro usb phone (and most phone out there is 1A only)

morning ladies and gentlemen of the note 2 persuasion

i was wondering if any of you encountered repeated random shutdowns which have no apparent cause. only long-pressing the power button will do anything to it..

and i scratched my XOSkins badly sad.gif its tarnished for life!!!!
*
i also got random auto restart . blink.gif

any idea why?

bro, do you have reliable dual port 2A. car charger?
*
hi bro

pls take note that can't really compare car and wall charger

Wall charger output from TNB sure very powerful but car charger output from car engine, different story lah.

Also take note that if you test with engine off (but electric on) and with engine on and with engine on for long time (30 min) will have different results. also depend on your engine lor. If test on lorry and kancil will have different results too

anyway, i tested mine (dual usb 2a each) and below is the GCC result

1) engine off - 900mA
2) engine on - 1200mA
3) engine on long time (min 30 min) - no time to test tongue.gif

but my dual usb 2a each can really reach 2A each under ideal conditions but in practicality (as stated above), may not be

House voltage - 240V

Car voltage - 12V

If not mistaken, car chargers voltage will fluctuate when you step on the accelerator.

Someone told me that if you get those cheap car chargers without some sort of Voltage stabilizer, it will harm your battery in the long run
*
so as long as the voltage fluctuation for the car is not too high (+/- 2 or 3V should be ok), the car charger if circuit is ok, should regulate it to 5V

Hi all

Was reading up li ion electrical behaviour yesterday and doing my own testing with various charger and cables today including yoobao ORIGINAL and my own oem powerbank

Wall charger (assuming it can charge 2a)

In summary if you want faster charging speed from wall charger, cable length is not too much of any issue if 1 meter or less (don't have more than 1 meter cable so can't know the impact of longer cables).

But cable quality is a major impact on charging speed and in principle the faster the better

Power bank (assuming it can charge 2a)

Now for power bank I tested, not only cable quality has impact on charging speed but 0.5m and 1 meter cable also has big impact. I guess because powerbank is a standalone charger the charging force is not as great as wall charger, that's why can see the difference

Both my oem and yoobao original powerbank can achieve gcc of 1.8a with good short cable but 1m cable shows charging speed drop to 1a

For powerbank, high charging speed may NOT be a good thing depends how you look at it. In principle the higher current you draw from the li ion battery cell, the effective available capacity drops

Professional measurements (not by me) shows discharging li ion with 1a compare to 2a can decrease available capacity by as much as 40% (depending on cell quality)

What this means is if you use your powerbank at very high charging rate, the number of cycles you can charge your phones decrease a lot

Just some sharing thumbup.gif

Wow.. nice info.. do u mean its better to wall charge 2a when available and less depends on power bank?... wow I'm paranoid about right now coz I travel a lot and really depends on yoobao power bank with output 1a only  :'(
*
if you are a heavy user of powerbanks (means very long time no wall charger), i would advice against charging at high speed because available capacity will drop compare to optimum condition

but if you have high capacity powerbank + you use it not for long time, then you can use the high current method. although the available capacity drops, it doesn't matter because before it reach zero, you would have recharge the powerbank with your wall charger

brotan your dual port 2.1A charger works great, I got constant 1800A like what you have tested with joytestthumbup.gif

Unfortunately GCC does not work with Note 1, it gives -1 on current_avg. sad.gif
*
Yw bro

Note1 I also got weird results as posted earlier

Btw just to update

1) ori uk white travel adapter+ ori cable in klia now. Should get within tomorrow or next day

2) my note2 cradle with phone dock + extra battery slot charging just arrive. Got speaker out + can use with slim case (you can see I am using the case for my note2)

Cheers

It seems that the current during charging my phone fluctuates between 1100mA to 1300mA. Dunno why I cant get 1800mA or slightly lower.

I did try tweaking the current input by lowering the ac input current below 1800mA for example 1700mA and the maximum current I got the most is 1300mA. I never go beyond 1800mA. This is really slowwww charging. Almost 3 hours to get 100% charge. Huhu.

Oh ok. So the stable current readout is at 1698mA with a safety margin of 100mA.
Well my avg wont go beyond 1300mA. Cant test it yet bcoz I do not have other cable or charger.
At default setting which is at 1800mA in stweak ill get lower current input. Lower than 1300mA. Weird. But I think the culprit could be the charger.

you bought ap unit?
