yep dalam cerita ashabul-kahfi which clearly shows dogs are well represented and highly respected in the Quran.
So anjing is not actually haiwan yg keji, but a trusty companion who stayed together with their masters and even died with them.

why u want to pet an animal that an adult swing of its tusk may definitely kill u? u pernah masuk hutan tak ni?

some of muslim still thought cannot touch means should not respect them etc.. thats why some actually abuse dogs, hitting them.

nothing wrong abt cuddling a dog, but i wouldn't share my ice cream with any dog or cat.

Exactly. Which apply to all animals, cow,cat,rat,mice,hamster,etc.. Common sense

general questions like this is best answered with a simple WHY. as in, your niat.


then you ask yourself what benefit would you get, as well as what benefit would everybody get as an ummah.

then ask yourself whether it brings more harm to you than good (such as, less time praying/remembering God), whether there are better/halal alternatives readily available.



like for instance, makan babi. just example.

why? because it's darurat. niat? only to survive.

what benefit? can survive and continue fighting for peace/removal of darurat times.

bring harm? there's a risk of poisoning, but eliminating the risk of death.


Islam is quite flexible.


now say, wild boar.

why? for research purpose only, to find cure for AIDS based on your hypothesis. just example.

why? to help mankind. but if to make money? haram.

what benefit? duh.

bring harm? none you can think of.



same thing with owning a dog. if it's just for petting, it's almost borderline haram as it is useless, and got alternatives for whatever purpose you want a pet.

but for a working companion, or for protection, to help blind people? harus.



Islam is very flexible. But no point kidding yourself to try to "make" anything halal for you, because it falls back to God knows everything.
