I guess that is TM internal stuff

Phoned my mobile, already know my homeline number + streamyx account and asked whether want to upgrade

I just answered Yes and everything is done

Phoned 100 and the CS also shocked how come package activated but speed is not there laugh.gif

As for my case TM activated the speed within 24 hours after called 100 for upgrading, tech came just to verified the output and getting my signature.

If you guys aware or it is just me, my snr in 8mbps cukup-cukup makan between 15 and 18 which previously I am getting more than 28 in 4mbps. Is it normal more port been opened snr will drop? however I don't have any issues with connection.

Yup, higher speed lower SNR. My SNR was 30+ on 1mbps, drop to 20 when 4mbps.
*
I see, as what I am thought as well. The attenuation just great around 15 but the snr is going down, as long I am getting good speed and no disconnection issues that would be good enough.

No technician visited me and I sign nothing as well doh.gif
Well, seem like there's some loophole at the registration doh.gif

After complaint, a technician visited my house to check just now

Surprised now TM no longer need to go to street cabinet to upgrade port speed

But what funny is, the technician phoned department 'A' to request upgrade port speed. 'A' request technican to call 'B' for activate. Then 'B' say it was 'A' job. doh.gif

The technician also headache and will pass my case to his boss doh.gif

Sometime need to contact special agent I can say.

Some location although not supported but sometime the agent can help.

Usually 4Mbit location is supported. But might have some issue on activation.

snr and attenuation is affected by modem?

mine now for DL snr is 7+, attenuation 40+... feel like calling to ask to check the port, but if modem also affects it, i might wanna change modem too..

generally no, but some ppl find it changing to another modem did improve something a lil bit. Save your money as snr and attenuation represents the quality of TM cabling network at your current location.

hmmm i see... guess i should call and ask then... it doesnt pose a problem for me but i noticed sometimes my IP address has changed which prolly mean the line was dropped. worried after they fix it, my data rate will become 8mbps instead of the current 10mbps sad.gif

the tech should advise you first not to upgrade as the bad readings you got there. To my understanding snr below 15 you'll get frequent disconnection and your attenuation is saying your house is too far from the cabinet. And the surprise is, you are covered with 8mbps when some ppl with great snr and attenuation does not.

the techs didnt come and check, i just went to tmpoint and ask for it and got it the next day. previously i was on 4mbps, and my snr was 20+, attenuation 40. I don't get frequent disconnection though, but I sometimes realize my IP has been changed, and sometimes if downloading too long I noticed my line will get dropped although I still have IP address shown. this happens maybe about 10 times in the past few weeks.

I'd be content if I can get my SNR to above 15 tho.

Depends on modem.
My Level One modem overheat easily and would be unstable and frequent disconnection.
TM Innacomm is total rubbish

What I am using now is an old Aztech, able to stay connected up to 2 weeks.

Just give TM a call and treat the technician well I can say nod.gif
If the technician is happy, he might help you modify your internal wiring a bit

http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=21
QUOTE
The SNR Margin is the difference between the actual SNR and the SNR required to run at a given speed. For example, if you need 20dB of SNR to run at 512Kbps, and the actual line SNR is 45dB, then the SNR Margin is 25dB.

The main reason why SNR margins fall as the line speed increases is that the required SNR increases. For example, if increasing the speed from 512Kbps to 2MBps raises the required SNR from 20db to 30dB then the margin left will fall from 25dB to 15dB (as 45dB-30dB = 15dB).

QUOTE(Anitelu @ Jan 31 2013, 03:46 PM)
What is SNR and how does one check it?

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your reply.

With regards to your query on DSLAM distance query, upon checking in the system for telephone number 04xxxxxxx, we found that your cable distance from our exchange is more than 1.51km whereas offerings of 8Mbps services is subject to distance limitation of maximum of 1.51km from exchange, port availability and also technical testing during installation. Your understanding on this matter is highly appreciated.

That make sense due to line cap to 8191kbps.
Given the theoretical case where everyone in Malaysia has no internet, and you are the only one connecting to Streamyx, the maximum speed you can achieve is 87.3% of 8191kbps. This is due to the ADSL overhead.[Source]

Talk to your installer again and see whether he can help you.

Otherwise, you will need to call 100, and complain to ask them to change the sync rate to at least 9400kbps for you to achieve 8Mbps speed at the very best effort that TM can give. That takes a lot of phone calls and probably longer waiting time. YMMV.

Thanks for the info notworthy.gif
By using the best efficiency to calculate it is pretty accurate at my case too.
At 5120 last time I should be able to get 4461 which I got exactly the same as calculated
At 10235 I should get 8917 but I get 87XX, reduced efficiency but I am happy enough

TM can't be bother, it is like the attitude take it or leave it,

it is many years like this, and the staff at TM point in farlim here still really think 1Mbps in ADSL is really "super Highspeed"

my whole block of flat all only 1Mbps,

i even approach the building manage office in my block and ask,

they said: is the fibre didnt want to come our area, reason they say because it is cheap price flat ,

if it was a condominium like Asia height just beside my block, they confirm will get fibre,.

not this type of 60~75k flat , doh.gif

so lame,. there is even quite a lot of demand but i guess it is TM monopoly market

and guess TM judge us by the cover of house we staying rclxub.gif

i guess that could be the obvious reason since we are up in the hill in farlim,..

although it is small hill. but i guess too far and yet TM dont want to spent extra costing to invest in upgrading,

but i found out that i am not the only one, there is a lot of demand in my block for upgrade to higher speed plan too hmm.gif

Hi, u can help with speeding up the process to upgrade?
I've already went to local TMPoint but today 2nd day still no news
If currently on 4mbps, most likely we can get 8mbps?
cos i recently check my line, not that good in SNR and attenuation is high actually but I seldom face disconnection

Btw, i've waited 11 months for my new phase apartment before they actually pulled the phone lines in and finally I could have my streamyx again. It was a new phase apartment

Yes, 11 mths after i actually complained to skmm on it, only then got some news on it

AFAIK, that "Apollo" version is old technology, to gain high speed your place need at least "white cabinet". This "white cabinet" will be attach with minimum 4 core fiber optic. But the cost to install white cabinet is high and maybe in 1-2 years there will be a cabinet install. If a lot of residence there make petition to apply fiber, TM maybe consider it.

P/S: I heard "khabar angin" in 3 years to come, TM plan to terminated the exchange nationwide, will be replace by main controller somewhere at KL. Any prob with internet will be refer to main controller.

TM many type of cabinet
1) APO aka APOLLO is a save space n safety..their built higher than other cabinet....1 apollo can be used for 500 user....now a day some apollo cabinet their put a DSLAM port...so DSLAM port can support 4Mbps......this cabinet still continues used....

2) Krone cabinet...this type of cabinet with krone modular....this can up to 800 user.....

3) Pouyet cabinet....this type of cabinet with pouyet modular....this can up to 800 user...size same like krone cabinet..just inside different....

-Cabinet 1,2 and 3 are link from exchange....all port will control from there.....

4) Fiber Cabinet...Zte cabinet/Huawei cabinet.....This using Metro E-concept....1st implementation our country Felda Trolak Sungkai Perak last year....This cabinet what the shamnh said......fiber running....but only to cabinet....from cabinet to house still same infra..copper cable..same like b4..what the advantage this cabinet not link to TM exchange already.......so the small TM exchange will be shut down.....Here all the E/SITE control by TM Kl site..ENOC team..This type of cabinet will be install phase fase by fase.....and this cabinet default port 2Mbps...Max port will be 10Mbps....

Thanks for the info. That's why i saw many ZTE in my place and the other Northern states.
I heard the power supply for ZTE box is more efficient because ZTE said they customise the power unit specially for TM case.

Any more Unifi expansion after this?I heard after Phase 1 now TM have quiet down already and concentrate in new developments that have demand only.

Now the new vectorized VDSL2 new generation can support 80mbps below 500m circuit length. Can also line bond to double the speed with 2X pairs.

Just for info....

Thanks for the infos. Since you're at it, previously when I live in my apartment, why only certain floor can get 4Mbps? Like, 1-3rd floor cannot, 4-5th can,6-10 can't,11-15 can, and 16~ cant. Odd isnt?

So it's

Download : 8Mbps / 8 roughly : 1.0 - 1.2MB/s
Upload : 512kbps / 8 roughly : 40KB/s - 64KB/s (from what i hear)

I think sometimes TMnet needs to understand not every Internet user are download-heavy users.
Some users need to upload large files (charts, graphics, project files, film / music editing files) for work purposes and 40-64KB/s isn't enough.

Sigh... looks like i've gotta skip this one as well.

ADSL limitation, I believe there's no ISP offers more than 1Mbps upload using ADSL.
Well if you read fact about ADSL, those are only theoretical speed and potential speed, not real speed.

That's why Fibre is going to replace ADSL technology.

My nearest TM cabinet is tag as V-003V, printed on top of it. This is considered as the 2nd cabinet. a year back I seen the contractor laying cables within that cabinet and a sign board saying TM is laying HSBB network, I don't expect unifi is coming as my area is a kampung area. But since the laying new cables taking place, TM is offering 4mbps and I am 1 of the early customer subscribed to it, and the same goes to this 8mbps. I guess I am getting the benefits from the new infrastructure.

During my travel journeys to rural roads, I found many wires with yellow-line being wired into kampungs and having seen the black fibre closure boxes that looks like a long plastic water tumbler, I know they are fibre cables.

Inside each fibre cable there are many individual strands for long term cost saving.

Instead of expanding fibre optics throughout Malaysia, why TM just not implement VDSL2 technology for both high-rise and landed houses?
Well at least they have just to built another DSLAM with VDSL2 technology.... and BOOM!!!
Your copper line now able to handle 10mbps or 5mbps for further area apart DSLAM.

u can call 100 and tell them they need to increase the dowload rate from the cabinet..

if he technician only set at ngam2 8192..for sure u wont get the speed that u supposed to get..
(1024 x 8) = 8192 kbps..
but he only set at 8191..
that is below par..
the technician should increase it..

hope this helps..

I think 'R' is the most basic one provide with 1M only.
Currently I am on 'R' cabinet 0.4KM and request to upgrade to 4M package also can't.

After I taking a lot of photo and make a complaint to SKMM, TM now pulling a cable from 'V' to 'R' in order to provide me HSI. Don't know that 'V' can support 8M package or not. Those 2 box just beside and I ask them directly change my line from 'R' to 'V' also can't. hmm.gif

FYI, a lot of 'F' box in the Unifi services area blush.gif

Dear Mr. Ong,

Thank you for bringing this matter again to our attention Firstly, we would like to apologize on the late reply.

We refer to your e-mail dated 31st January 2013 on High Speed Internet (HSI) services availability at your area, we regret to know that you has been informed that the said service cannot be provided via cabinet KGP_006 due to port availability issue. Moreover, there are no plans in upgrading the service for time being due to low demand.

However, we have forwarded this matter to our Access Network Delivery (AND) Johor Selatan for their further clarification since they previously considering in pulling the tie cable from cabinet KGP_008 to KGP_006 in order to resolve such matter (should no issue arise within the progress). Rest assured that we will get back to you once feedback received.

For further assistance or feedback, kindly e-mail us at help@tm.com.my. Alternatively, you can also contact TM at 100, choose language and select "Product and Services".

Thank you.

May I ask a things?
The cabinet does extended DSL coverage area or not?

Following is my current connection details:
Circuit Type: Phone Status: In service
Customer name: Telekom Malaysia Speed: 1024 kbps
Service Type: ADSL_MM DSLAM Type: Copper Cabinet
Distance DP to Cabinet (KM): 0.26 Distance cabinet to MDF (KM): 4.35

QUOTE
Please be informed that you are currently tagged to an ATM based cabinet (KPG 006) where the HSI service cannot be provided. We understand that you are just 0.26 KM away from cabinet KPG 006 however the cabinet distance is 4.35 KM away from the nearest Main Distribution Frame (MDF), KGP Exchange. Thus, the maximum speed available for your area is 1.0 Mbps which is in accordance to your current subscription.

After I made several complaint to TM they finally willing to pull a cable to my cabinet, but is the total length is calculate include of cabinet to MDF?

Or it shall works as the picture I attached ?

QUOTE(MrSpeedy @ Feb 13 2013, 05:43 PM)
Instead of expanding fibre optics throughout Malaysia, why TM just not implement VDSL2 technology for both high-rise and landed houses?
Well at least they have just to built another DSLAM with VDSL2 technology.... and BOOM!!!
Your copper line now able to handle 10mbps or 5mbps for further area apart DSLAM.
*
VDSL2 Zero-Touch Vectoring Technology

If they want to implement soon, don't just buy old VDSL2 equipment. Get the newer ZERO Touch 2nd gen VDSL2 on vectorization technology.

Use VDSL2 with vectorization instead. If they can build a cabinet to serve every 0.5km or replace existing Apollo rocket type switches in urban areas, average 80mbps is possible on a single copper pair. Current Unifi services are only doing similar speeds and that's is enough to serve IPTV and 20mbps with still breathing space.

Every home with RAW 32-40mbps is more than enough using different VLANs.

10/8mbps for IPTV and upto 20mbps for internet/voip port. Total needed is just 30-32mbps.

QUOTE
BT Group Strategy Director Sean Williams, while giving evidence to the House of Lords Select Committee has highlighted that partial fibre (FTTC) is five times cheaper to deploy than a full fibre (FTTP) solution.

FTTC is at the beginning of its development path, with Vectoring technology offering the potential to reduce the impact of cross-talk and boost speeds, allowing the shortest lines to reach over 100 Mbps. Future xDSL variants may offer even more speed boosts.

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/5278-bt...m-solution.html
Read that? 5X cheaper than FTTP/FTTH that means if Unifi chose VDSL2 earlier, we probably have almost 5X more covergae than now and still delivering similar 20mbps/30mbps/50mbps on existing copper with option to go full FTTP later if needed with demand.

VDSL2 is not very much different from installing Streamyx using existing copper phone cabling except if using pure fibre until the MSAN cabinet.

Looks perfectly well to support 8M with port capped to 10238kbps/637kbps with only 14dB/5.6dB attenuation.

Very good line condition. They cancel it probably because they don't want to sell you the line for certain reasons such as keeping the extra port for themselves or too lazy to process it for you at this moment.

Maybe they haven't confirm the tests properly and have to make a run for early lunch today? Or course they won't leave it be just to make sure things go smoothly.

but it turns out that it has been cancelled even though he didn't come to my house...

The reason is when the system says it's not available, it is not available even when technician tell its supported because they can't charge you any cent due to they can't set your package in system because system says no.

tat the problem they saying. They cant register my upgrade so revert me back doh.gif
LOL, normally we think it hardware issues when cant upgrade, now hardware all can but their registration system does not allowed. Reverse pulak?

Somehow, the two tm staff that came also tried to troll me. Saying the IP-DSLAM server cant support, oni DSLAM server can since it newer. sweat.gif

If they're lazy, they would be warned by higher ups since everything must be done within 24 hours unless public holiday.
I could say mostly it's the system problem, not the staff.

I personally recommend you to upgrade using 100, if you upgrade with TMPoint, your application will goes into all other application forms thus take longer to process yours, if 100, they straight key in into the system.

Streamyx upload speed was never "unusually slow". It has always been slow. Yes, 0.5 megabytes per second upload speed is slow for streaming.

I used to have Streamyx 4mbps, and my upload speed never went higher than 130 kilobytes per second. Good luck streaming with this.

In 2012, I had 10mbps Unifi, and my upload speed was 16mbps and could easily stream 1080p games from my computer.

well what can you expect when the dsl upstream is capped @ 512kbps MAX
but why do you have problem streaming? u r broadcasting? if u are down streaming i dun see the problem with 512kbps of upstream
in contrast of up/down, streaming (let say youtube) will got no problem in 1080p when u got 4mbps down stream

By streaming, I meant broadcasting. My apologies for the confusion.

512 kbps is KILOBITS per second. Divide 512 by 8 (8 bits to 1 byte) and you get your theoretical upload speed of 64 KILOBYTES per second. Uploading one hi-res 8-megabyte JPG to Facebook at 64 kilobytes per second would take 128 seconds, theoretically. This means that an upload speed of 512 kilobits per second is just not enough for broadcasting.

Yes, I do broadcasting through Twitch.TV, and if I remember correctly, using my Xsplit Broadcasting software, a 720p stream at 30 frames per second and maximum quality requires an upload speed of at least 400 KILOBYTES (not KILOBITS) per second.

I suddenly remembered the Philippine Pro-Gaming League (PPGL) stream, in early 2012. It was held in a mall that is owned by the Ayala Corporation, which also owns Globe Telecom, which I think is the #3 or #4 ISP in the Philippines. Globe Telecom loaned their first Gigaline (1 Gbps) to the PPGL, and the organizers were raving ahead of the event that they will be able to provide a 720p stream. Obviously the organizers were mistaken, as the Gigaline's 1Gbps is downstream, as opposed to upstream. They were only able to provide a 240p stream because the Gigaline's upload speed is only a maximum 192 kilobytes per second. To make matters worse, the SC2 event was marred by lagspikes and a few disconnects. MarineKingPrime won that event I think. And the organizer of the event, the president of the Azkals Progaming Team, went into hiding after having incurred millions of pesos in debt.

Just setup one on your computer, easier in that way.

why ur ping so low? anyone know how to make ping low?

Don't take pings result from speedtest, it's inaccurate at a time.
Use your command prompt to do ping test instead.

I applied 8mb package but the agent inform not supported. so I installed 1mb package. This is my modem data.

We refer to your new package upgrade request (8.0 M). We regret to inform that we are unable to provide you with the said package speed since no attainable rate found to support the speed required (8.0 M) even though the port made available and the distance is within the range limit (less than 0.3 KM).
This is the worst case of mine rclxub.gif

i got SMS last friday telling me that my area (jelapang, Ipoh) already got 8Mbps line.
so i checked tm website to verify it.

btw, on 9 March, i upgraded my package from 4Mbps via tm website, now still in progress.

hopefully got some updates by tomorrow smile.gif

They do throttle famous filesharing sites such as hotfiles, and yes, p2p throttle still do apply.
Yes, some of us did not get throttled, why? Probably a system glitch or periodical throttle.

PS : PM valentine1666. He can help u apply with new line. Means u must cut off your old line.

Guys, do you all having high ping return from International Site?
Could you screenshot couples of ping return from the international site, wanna file a complaint.
Even the famous facebook site, I'm on ~220ms ping.
The only key diff I felt the moment I upgraded is Fast Youtube Loading, tat's all.

Bandwidth aka speed got no relationship with the latency aka ping smile.gif

You get that kind of ping because Malaysia bad international routing

Yup, that's true or in other way round, latency is another element that contributes to a network speed.

So, which is basically said that, all streamyx users are having the same ping return result or it differ from each other?

Under same copper condition and connected to the same IP range, it should be the same smile.gif

It's always been capped, as previously it was fast for you, it's just probably a very well-known system glitch.

Enable at the cabinet then phone you for confirmation

If needed, they will visit you and test, usually is no need

okay thanks
because my friend who's a TM streamyx technician told me, my house can definitely get the 8mbps because he tested it remotely from his office. But when i applied for 8mbps at the tm website, they said that the 8mbps package is still not available at my area. So thats why i registered with the agent.

ada time die. aku donlod direct dari server (donload ios firmware dari apple). time ni 10pm speed max 300kB/s je. tengah malam 1.1MB/s. pelik, kenape kena hard cap? bukannya torrent.

streamyx cap torrent je .. lain x cap xsilap aku .. kalo slow tu bukan sebab speed aku rasa .. samada congest server dia tau time tu user yang pakai line sama guna bandwith tinggi .. sebab tu TM cap torrent sebab ramai user guna torrent .. makan bandwith .. dan sebab tu aku dd je .. lagi cepat

tapi kalo slow sgt speedtest ko .. kena buat report la kat 100 .. suh dorang check takut fizikal line kat luar problem .. huhu!! signal xcun efek gak speed ko ..

I have a friend who works in tm & he tells me they are throttling all streamyx accounts now. don't care if the account is 1mb, 2mb, 4mb or 8mb. they will throttle it.

you just told all the tmnut spy here, you are still not throttle. better prepare yourself for bad news.

dont have to prepare, its a known old bad news

they already did since years ago, just there's always some user not being throttled by chance and luck

due to their system problem or maybe during maintenance

not surprise if I'm being throttled again, nod.gif

if throttle kicks out once again on me, there is always a thing called VPN

For streamyx is 3-5 days.
But if ur area is within unifi area, u can't apply 8mbps package. Usj 1 should be within unifi area.

That's TM policy, 8mbps is only offer to non-unifi area. so sorry for that.
And 8mbps is subject to area availability, it must be within 1.5km from dslam.

Anyone having problems loading youtube?

I just upgraded to the 8MBps pack just 2 days ago from 4Mbps.
Speed is soooo good but i'm quite a youtuber lol.
Actually for a long time ago. when want to load even short videos I have to keep refreshing the page a few times to make it load faster again

Why is that?

Anyone also noticed utube behaves different. The player sometimes stops at middle, reloading all that buffered content. Sometimes plays higher quality format without me selecting it. Weird stuff.

how stable depends on your line
depends on your SNR and line attenuation

Not sure if it work since this is created by American for Time Warner Cable throttle

We use a different CDN. BTW I hardly get throttle so can't verify.

Same here (am also an 8mbps user).

I was also one of those selected for the guinea pig trial a year ago (around March-May 2012), they provided an Android OS IPTV box (made by Huawei, customised model for Telekom), the test was for about a month, after which we had to complete a survey and return the IPTV box. They also provided a D-Link ADSL modem (same model as for those on 4mbps package then) which we got to keep for free, together with RM150 Aeon voucher, if we completed the survey and returned the IPTV box.

The IPTV box use our existing bandwidth or they do have separate VLAN tagging or etc just like unifi

The IPTV service worked quite well when I did the trial last year and that time I was only on Streamyx 4mbps. The only problem is there could be slight stuttering of the IPTV if you are downloading files from fast servers. Also, for the trial, there were no HD channels (any HD channels were downconverted to SD first).

For the trial, the IPTV box used our existing bandwidth, can be hooked via LAN or wifi to the ADSL modem. I think there's not much bandwidth to spare in an ADSL connection. Also, for the trial, IPTV is enabled (via some login access control) for both the IPTV box and also for web access from a PC. I remembered having the IPTV box tuned to one channel while my laptop was viewing another channel, both ran smoothly but I suspect (from the picture quality) the one for web streaming has lower bitrate.

Not sure whether this Hypp TV roll out this time will be different from the trial. Well, I will also find out in a few days' time when I go get the box.

Picture below is the Huawei IPTV box which I got for the guinea pig trial last year, with the remote that has an "air mouse" function. Only problem is I have no idea how to hack the Android OS to accept apps installation, I think they locked it.

Yep, it has HDMI (cable was provided also), but I did not try that since I only have that prehistoric TV next to it. If they give out the same set again this time, it will be good!

A picture of the carton...

Got the HyppTV set today, but as mentioned by @hanny562, no password given yet for access the IPTV service, will need to wait for TM to contact me with the access information in a few days' time. I saw that the list of names at TM Point Jalan Burma (Penang) is a few pages long, looks like everyone on 8mbps (and maybe 4mbps also) will get this HyppTV service.

Meanwhile, this Huawei EC6106V5 set is also an Android box, and so far, it has been able to play whatever video formats that I threw into it, but for files containing Dolby Digital or DTS audio, no decoding will be done and have to be streamed via HDMI or SPDIF optical to something that can decode the audio (AV receiver, etc). Also, need to make sure the filename does not have characters like "$", "'" (apostrophe), etc., or else the player app will crash.

I guess it only stream on 720p or lower as the experience is not like 1080p.

The Huawei box is laggy, bad firmware optimization especially the HyppTV app is totally incompatible with my keyboard. doh.gif

Anyway, can't complaint too much is this is free biggrin.gif

Hi all,

I just collect my HyppTV STB this afternoon, but due to there was still pending "order" (asked to cancel voice mail service for my phone), they cannot "migrate" my account to this HyppTV enabled account, so I still haven't get my pin to enjoy the HyppTV service. sad.gif

What I need to know are, which media format or container the device support via it's USB?

By the way, I got the Huawei EC6106V5 set.

Thanking you in advanced! notworthy.gif

Received the STB last Saturday but no SMS received for the HyppTV login/password. TM efficiency at work! Had to call the hotline and request for it and was told that the "Work Order" is not activated. Despite that, was still given a login/password to try out and voila, it worked.

Good thing about this HyppTV, is it's free for trial for 2 months. As usual, free things are not always good. The picture quality is SHIT! Hahahaha. Called up the hotline and they said its only on SD not HD despite the channels being HD. Well, I won't pay any $ for this crap when the trial period is over, unless of course, they upgrade the picture quality to HD. I wanna see boobies on FashionTV in crystal clear HD, not in blurry blocks.

I've finally received the SMS for HyppTV login & password 45 minutes ago... rclxm9.gif

Go to the STB, entered the login credential, the system displaying wrong user name or password... rclxub.gif

Tried many many times but it just can't log me in cry.gif

Called the help center, they check the system and found nothing was wrong, so asked me to try again at a later time or within 24 hours... shakehead.gif

Btw, on your question earlier on what file format this box can play via the USB, the answer is basically almost everything. I tried avi, mpg, mkv, mp4, m4v, ts, m2ts, semua sapu... all worked. But just be careful, this box will not decode Dolby Digital and DTS audio, it will stream out the audio undecoded through HDMI or SPDIF, so it's up to the user to connect to an equipment that can decode the audio format. HD audio formats like DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD are not supported.

I have even gotten it to stream via network from my laptop (the PC's network name will appear under My Media on the box), just need to enable media sharing/streaming (if Windows 7) and select the folder to share (under Libraries-->Video). There's a problem though, it won't play mkv files this way, I think it will only play formats supported by Windows Media Player if streaming through network.

Although the IPTV quality sucks, this box is okay as a media player (especially via USB).

Did some network speed test with speedtest.net, with and without the IPTV running, here's the results:

Without the IPTV running, this is my typical results:
user posted image

With the IPTV running (tuned to Travel Channel "HD"), I am still getting over 7mbps for my internet:
user posted image

My Streamyx ADSL is connected in ADSL2+ mode at 10236kbps download and 636kbps upload, typical for 8mbps users.

Which means the bandwidth used by the HyppTV is only 1+mbps, that's low even for SD channels, this should explain the super soft/blur pictures.

For a proper HD broadcast channel, even 5mbps may result in soft pictures already, bitrate above 10mbps are common. I believe Astro's HD channels (via the satellite) are at least 8-9mbps each, possibly up to 12mbps.
