QUOTE(kooixiuhong @ Jan 24 2013, 07:44 PM) To be honest there almost no different between any domain registrar/reseller offer. Generally all are good. You can get domain name and hosting from Exabytes to make it easier. However when it comes to full website development there basic rule of thumb that you shouldn't put all eggs(domain name & webhosting) in one basket. It is advisable to buy from domain provider who sell domain as their main product(eg : NameCheap/Name.com) and get webhosting somewhere else(eg : Exabytes). This is not necessary but it does eliminate future complication if you want to change webhosting. If you're new to domain name and webhosting, I would suggest you to get both from the same provider. |

it is kind of old saying when we mention "shouldn't put all eggs(domain name & webhosting) in one basket"
i think that happen as there are many customer actually face many problem when they are taking their domain or their hosting from a unreliable provider. What we see is that there are many of our customer who wanted to migrate their domain or hosting to other provider, the existing provider is trying to block/lock them from transferring and charging them a special fee before the release. rest assure that you are the owner of your domain name when you register with Exabytes and you have the right to transfer them to any other provider anytime. Of course you will still need to fulfill the terms and condition set by ICANN registrar which is totally out of control by Exabytes. |

in my opinion people are more concern where to order their hosting more than where to get domain

If you are buying .com domains, there are plenty of choices. I wouldn't buy from exabytes as they are more expensive with not much promotion on renewal. Try godaddy or namecheap as their coupon codes are everywhere on the internet.

Would it be a huge difference between .com and .com.my if I want to start selling my products to Malaysian? And is it better for me to go with Local Host like (Exabytes/Shinjuru/Serverfreak) instead of Godaddy/Hostgator etc for the same purpose?

Any usual Linux webhosting provider should have no problem with OpenCart, Prestashop or any other php e-commerce platform. Being e-commerce platform, all have built-in shopping cart. You just need to add payment processor/gateway to receive payment from customerDo some reading on payment gateway of the platform you choose, commonly payment processor like Paypal/Payza is the easiest and you don't need to pay anything to use it but if you want to be able to receive local bank transfer from your customer you need payment gateway like ipay/molpay etc But are you sure you want to handle the setup and the business/management side yourself? E-commerce platform is a b*tch(to setup and maintain) and I would highly recommend using hosted solution like Shopify or Prestabox for people who just want to sell their product. |

Any particular budget?Maybe I need to go down the route to find my way round myself =( Just an advice, make sure you ask your prospective host first whether e-commerce platform that you choose will work well with their particular plan. I've heard that Magento are slow/unresponsive on shared hosting |

if you are looking for .net
Exabytes will be offering it at only RM3.99 on 31-Jan-2013 for first 100 signup on that day. even if you are not looking for .net domain, you can consider to buy additional .net domain to park them together at your hosting so that you get more than 1 domain pointing to your website. |

I have only got 1 domain so far, when u say park a domain on the same hosting, does it effectively mean that I do not need to pay for hosting for my domains other than the first one? It would be really cheap as you spread the cost of hosting to all the domains? (sorry I am a newbie). Is there any downside to parking all your domains in one hosting apart from the risk of server down which cause all other domains to stop operate? |

it depends whether your hosting package allow you to host only single domain name or multiple domain name within a single shared hosting package.
Some hosting package allow only 1 domain per hosting account Some hosting package allow multiple domain but all of them park on a single website (park domain) per hosting account Some hosting package allow multiple domain with different website (addon domain) per hosting account but all of them sharing the same hosting control panel login Some hosting package allow multiple domain with different website per hosting account where each of the domain have their own control panel you may wish to check with your hosting provider to make sure on what is allowed in the hosting package you subscribe to. |

This one normally we call it reseller planwhere you will have 1 reseller level of login for you to - create different hosting package for each of your domain - create each domain name as a hosting account so that they have their own control panel - then each of the hosted domain will have their own control panel Example reseller control panel: Web Host Manager Example End user control panel: cPanel |
