I've seen people using it as TnG. But to think do you really want to take out your I.C often to use as TnG? What if misplace? lol.

but can we?

it's not a really good idea. but billions have been wasted.

From what I heard, the banks opposed using MyKad as ATM, because they will lose out on the annual RM8 fee.

I tried to convert my MyKad to CIMB ATM card, and the officer hinted, that they actually don't want to do it because they will lose
the annual RM8 fee.

Remember last time the annual ATM card fee was RM24 then lowered to RM12 then finally RM8?.

I have been using my MyKad as TnG for years. Went to JPN last month to apply fo rnew MyKad. TnG not transferable. So, they'll cut up your old MyKad and leave you with the chip for TnG function. You'd have to go to TnG center in Menara Faber in Taman Desa to transfer credits from old chip to the new MyKad all over again...

We can. Any JPN office should be able to do it, though some staff may not know how to because of lack of demand/practice.

After putting it in MyKad, you can view it and show it to people anytime anywhere using your smartphone or tablet with an application like this:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...a.cikad.showkad

Some advantages of doing this are:

- No need to give new photos to JPJ when renewing driving license.
- No need to keep separate driving license cards.
- More sophisticated than paper driving license.

indeed. it is convenience. but when i went to JPN last time, they told it is done by JPJ. and when I went to JPJ they claim to have the machine broken.

did you manage to do it? which branch?

it's theoretically possible, but practically impossible. sweat.gif

I did it at the JPN office in Setia Tropika, Johor Baru in 2011.

Because the demand has been little, the receptionist did not know which counter I should go to, and directed me to a wrong counter where the staff did the wrong thing. I had to approach the public relations department, and went up and down in the building several times. I was told to go to JPJ, but I said I prefer JPN. Fortunately, the JPN public relations staff knew this service, and finally arranged for me to approach a general-purpose JPN counter, which did it for me at the closing time without a queue number. If I am not wrong, we are supposed to treat it as a normal MyKad application/renewal request, probably no form to fill up, get a queue number, go to the counter, tell the staff what you want, pay the fee, and wait a few minutes for the driving license to be renewed and loaded into MyKad.

If you like, you can try suggesting to JPN to show this procedure clearly at every office. From my experience, the JPN director general is pretty accommodating. She should be able to take appropriate actions, since the suggestion is pretty reasonable. Just that she can be a bit overloaded with other work. I try to avoid making the suggestion myself, because of a potential conflict of interest on my part.

I keep some money in my MyKad for TnG in case I forget to bring my SmartTag out sometimes. Comes in handy when I forget or do not have time to reload my TnG card.
