2nd hand one = damaged batt = no capacity

ultraportability is defined by 5+ hrs of batt usage

if u just wanna do typing, i suggest u get an entry level lappie. acer's starts from 2299. it's good and even has wi-fi

though you state your needs, but it is still difficult to suggest if you don't state your budget... the current cheap and new ones are ftec, acer and dell. not sure bout other brands.

Criteria you want to consider:
1. Your budget
2. Do you want to go for brand or not? What processor speed? This also ties back to your budget
3. Memory size and hard disk
4. Functions available - the more functions you want, the higher price you have
5. Software provided - what comes with the machine
6. Maintenance support - some laptops come cheap during offers but the maintenance may be high especially the cost of parts
