Charity has turned into a source of income for some. They work as sales reps and solicit
Donations from public and earn commission for their effort. The company they work for also
Take a cut from the donation. I heard the actual donation recipient body receive only
5 or 10% only. Imagine you donate one ringgit and they only pass 10 sen to the actual
Receipient. This was discussed many years back when it first started. It seem some
Smart Alex thought up this scheme to legally make some money. They are only interested
In credit card payment every month from donors. Imagine if you have a few thousand
Donors you can stop all collection effort and sit back to enjoy 90% commission from
All the credit card auto deduction coming in every month whistling.gif . You see people
Asking you to sign their huge card at every shopping centers nowadays.

“Charity organisations should eliminate middlemen or agents when raising funds because these agencies take a cut or commission from every donation they receive. When fund-raising is outsourced, the middlemen usually receive 50sen or more for every ringgit donated to the cause.”

They used to operate in front of banks too

Signed a paper to show support, and then was "forced" to fill in credit card details too

Of course I politely refused

There's a reason why WWF allows these to happen. Not just WWF although they are the most aggressive right now. MAKNA does it to. You want to file a complaint against Majlis Kanser Nasional as well?

Let me put it this way, how many of you will donate to WWF on your own? How many of you are even aware that they exist, and that they need funds?

They need these people who are pushy and aggressive at recruiting donors in order to get funds. These people need to be paid because there are a lot less volunteers who will do it for free than you think. People only talk about wanting to do charity or helping out. Nobody actually goes out and does it.

Yes, most of the money from your first year of donations will go to whoever signed you up. However, if I'm not mistaken, if you stick to the plan for a while, most of your money will go towards WWF instead.

Charities have to spend money to make money. Its not so much that these people are making a profit, but more like WWF are paying them for their services. Sad, but true.

You don't approve? Go to WWF's office and write them a cheque yourself personally. Its located in SS23 Taman Sea. Or you could just mail it to them. This way, you cut out the middleman. If you can't be bothered to do that, than don't complain about there being a middleman. Its because not enough people will donate on their own that there needs to be a middleman. Its a necessary evil.

Hey man, truly agree... It's because of the the people who abused the term "charity" that got us all in turmoil. It's not only laptops or tablets that need promoters to sell it. Charity organizers need people to make it aware too. If not, how to what are the suggestions to make a charity organizations work?

Of course there are people who go rogue once in a while. Which company doesn't have people like that? Some companies, even CEOs are.

ok mar, aggressive marketing is ok. as long the top charity management no songlap those money.

if not becos of aggressive marketing team, i won't be donating RM38 every month to UNICEF for many years liao. Even if half was taken by the agent, at least still got half goes to charity.

the agent oso should deserve some money lar. they work so hard to promote the charity donation. Its like people buying expensive branded shirt, the cost of the shirt baru few ringgit, the other hundred ringgit goes to marketing advertisement and etc, yet people feel good about it. LOL

Here's a "LIKE" to your entry. Agreed. For me, if I donate then I donate wholeheartedly... else, i just keep quiet about it, decline it and walk away...
