Would someone who has updated to 4.1.2 be willing to run the eMMC Brickbug Check and post the results here ?

I am curious to see if the update has addressed the SDS issue.

If they fixed SDS issue your emmc setting will still be the same

OK I was thinking the 'FW Rev: 0xF1' would be updated to 'FW Rev: 0xF7'

Any chance you can post the source of your information ???

Cheers.

flashing the official one wont save you from SDS case, must use supported recovery, kernel and rom

That is what I am trying to find out.

4.1.2 was rolled out in the UK before Samsung had completed the patch for SDS so they issued another update to take care of the issue. Now it is being reported that the patch has been incorporated into future 4.1.2 rollouts but it is unclear whether the Malaysia version is included.

That is why I asked someone to check using the eMMC app but Nokiaxxxx seems to think that won't reveal anything. Who knows ?

This eMMC firmware version will never EVER be upgraded, no matter what ROM we flash as end users.
Thanks for that, I have read a lot of Entropys posts but missed the one where he explained that thumbup.gif

according to xda, download the emmc apps can check board revision number, old one is VTU000M 0fx1 while the new one is VTU000M 0fx7.

key in this number also, *#12580*369#, check board firmware model. 1.1 is old, new is 1.5. new board release around dec last year, if phone age is more than 2 months old then let dont your hope so high.

other than this duno what is the most accurate method to check and probability is there, wont know until phone is dead lol.

I checked the phones in Samsung Centre in Lowyat and a few other retailers around that area just last week, all had version 1.1 so I guess it may be a while before new stock filters through.

yeap, or enough AP sets died. those demos are old phones isnt it? wouldnt know whats the revision status of their current stock
That could be true, I asked some retailers what their current stock version was but none could tell me.

i'd wait for s4 or sometime later till phone with new boards flood the market

That's my plan. It's frustrating not being able to buy what is a flagship phone with any real confidence.

those phones have been there since day 1 i think, those demo units.. So yeah, that's why they'll have the 1.1 boards..
*

As I said above I think you are right but no retailer could tell me what version they are currently stocking. I actually said that I would buy a phone from a couple if they could guarantee it had the new motherboard but non were willing to risk opening a sealed box to check in case it didn't.

BTW they denied all knowledge of SDS in the Samsung Centre.

of course la, no sales person will do that.

hi sir, may i help you? we have samsung galaxy s3 and note 2 which are our best selling smart phones. but currently samsung has announced that there is a problem with those handsets which may result in the phone totally unbootable unless you send it to service center to get a board replaced. what do you think sir? which colour appeals best to you?

hahaha

I guess that's the usual customer service response that the staffs would give since samsung themselves have not issued any official statements regarding the sds issue.. That's rather disappointing I have to say..
But if their product knowledge was anything like it should be he could have said "Yes sir there was an issue with earlier phones but this has been addressed with a motherboard upgrade and all the phones we sell now are safe" Job done, sale made.

The best way is to bring  a friend who owns a SIII with you when buying it. smile.gif

I guess it depends on the quality of the fake but would they have the full functionality of an original.

Would entering codes like *#0*# to test functions work on a fake ?
