Has anyone experienced the S3 sudden death syndrome before? I think mine just did.... phone wouldn't unsleep on saturday... took out the battery, put it back in, no difference. sent to the service centre, they said my motherboard most probably dead due to overnight charging, which by the way, is one of the ways that sudden death happens...

the first batch mobo is 1.1 right?

no idea to be honest.... worst part is, i didn't even root my phone also kena... gggrrr....

when i sent my phone to the service centre, they said that most probably my motherboard fried due to overcharging. what nonsense... then while he was filling in some documents, i asked him whether they had a lot of this "sudden death" issues. I didn't say "sudden death" explicitly, but just casually asked whether S3 a lot of problems like mine. he said not many, which i'm suspicious about because when i spoke to the call centre fella 2 days before, he acknowledged the problem and that it was affected the local S3 users... quite irritated with samsung for now releasing an update earlier to fix this issue...

make sure you don't charge it overnight. that's what the service centre fella also said... now have to wait for the darn phone to be repaired. thankfully still covered by warranty.. otherwise, kanasai man...

got my S3 back from samsung service centre today... my MP is now 1.5, but still running on 4.1.1. when i asked the service guy how come it's not 4.1.2, he said it's not released here yet. one thing that i'm really unhappy about is that they've disabled my check for updates OTA. they said allowing that would risk the phone getting SDS again. so now i have to plug my phone into laptop and then use kies to update... cis....

the only good thing i see from all this is that my stupid unable to paste issue is now fixed...

Wait checking updates via OTA causes SDS? This is the first time I heard of this.
*
yeah loh... sounded dodgy to me... perhaps the fler kelentong only also i dunno... no way of confirming unfortunately...

QUOTE(@lvyzy @ Jan 23 2013, 11:38 AM)
Probably they just disabled the OTA at applications manager? hmm.gif
Try to check at "Settings" > "Applications Manager" > "All"
Scroll to the end of the list to see if any app is disabled.
*
YAY! enabled OTA again... now let's see whether really kena SDS again or not. hopefully shouldn't since my MP is now 1.5 already... thanks again!

any forumer that face sudden die ... mind to share how long did it take to fix u phone count from d date sc carry in d device and how they fix it .???im one of d victim of sudden die
*
sent it on Sat morning. I collected it yesterday. But I didn't wait for them to tell me it was ready. I called up the service centre and asked them, then they told me that from the job sheet, it's actually complete. If i waited for them to call, i dunno how many extra days i would've wasted liao...

apparently, all they did was change the motherboard. but all data inside gone lah...

always ask uncle google... he doesn't lie:

SAMSUNG CUSTOMER SOLUTION CENTER
Ground Floor Within Lot11, Jalan 51A/219 Petaling Jaya

Operating Hours:
9.00am-6,00pm (Mon-Fri)
9.00am-1.00pm (Sat)

http://www.samsung.com/my/support/location...viceLocation.do

when i went last week (Saturday) because my phone kena SDS, i reached at around 11.15am... waited almost until 12pm before my number was called cause the place packed to the max. when i went to collect on a tuesday @ 5pm, that place empty giler... so i suggest go during weekday because there's definitely less people.

got the OTA notification this afternoon, but decided to wait till i reached home, backed up my stuff and then download via Kies (since SC toldm e not recommended to use OTA after my SDS issue).

unfortunately, download is super slow... it's only at 3% now....

For those who are wondering what page buddy is, and how multi window works, where to find the controls to edit your notification settings, etc, i recommend you check out youtube and see what others have reviewed...

this one is pretty helpful: 4.1.2 review

after upgrading to 4.1.2 for about a week, i realise that i actually don't use the multi window screen much at all... hahahahaha...

another issue is that my page buddy for my headphones doesn't display the player and the video widget like most people do. is it because i'm using my own set of creative headphones?

I think you'll have to manually add the widgets. When I first plugged in my earphones (Samsung stock earphones), no music player or video player widgets were displayed on the page as well.

hi all, just want to check with those who use bluetooth devices... does leaving bluetooth on all the time suck a lot of battery (similar to leaving wifi on?)

sorry if this is a silly question... =)

another issue that just happened... i got an SMS from 22339 to setup internet... sounds quite dodgy...

the sms is in BM only, and talk about me receiving settings for internet on my S3, and then the second sms asks me to reply Y to setup. i've also got a configuration message waiting which I dare not open because i'm worried that it's a hoax / hack

my provider is maxis. anyone can help?

Nope. My wifi and bluetooh always on. But Wifi have to check whether any app is using it in background. If yes then battery drain fast

for me, bluetooth when connected suck more than wifi with internet
*
thanks guys. the reason i asked is because i just got myself a bluetooth headset which i only turn on when i'm driving, but i leave bluetooth turned on for my S3. just wanted to know whether this is not a good practise in terms of reducing battery life (which is why i'm interested to know how severe the battery sucking is)

i kena SDS when i was at 4.1.1. my friend also same.... so far i haven't heard any reports of SDS with 4.1.2. then again, i think it's also dependant on your motherboard version as well....
