Taman OUG or OUG is a main township in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Situated mainly atop a hill, this township is located in Jalan Klang Lama and was opened in the mid of 1970s. OUG stands for Overseas Union Garden. It is also known as Taman Overseas Union, in Malay.

Just down the hill lies Plaza OUG (also known formerly by the name of Plaza Kimisawa and then, followed by Yaohan). It has undergone through a few ownerships and modifications, with the most recent one being Parkson Grand. One can climb the hill and have a grandiose view of the whole garden.
The residential roads here used to be in numbers (Jalan 1 to 40). However the local authorities decided to rename them to Hujan Emas (golden rain), Hujan Abu, Hujan Batu, Hujan Gerimis, Hujan Manik, Hujan Bubuk and so on. On Thursday nights, there is a night market (pasar malam) selling various hawker food, affordable apparels, decorations, daily usage items and toys.

As of 2006, roads connecting OUG to Bukit Jalil and Sri Petaling have opened, after several years of having the project delayed. These new stretch of roads reduced the traveling time of at least 10–15 minutes. In the past, to get to either Sri Petaling or Bukit Jalil, one needs to pass through the neighbouring residential area Happy Garden. There are rows of shop lots in OUG. Some of the shops in OUG are Kin San Kopitiam, 7-Eleven, Guardian Pharmacy, Kedai Gunting OUG, Restaurant New Sun Ho (coffee shop), Simon Poon Agency(General Insurance), Wow Wow Pets Shop, Caring Pharmacy and Kedai Runcit Wah Lian.
The surrounding area which Plaza OUG and Central Plaza are located in has seen the mushrooming of eateries and nightlife activities. Most notable is Citrus Park whereby Station 1 Cafe, Nando's, and Secret Recipe.

Places of sports and leisure

The MCA hall is popular for tai chi exercise. On certain nights, dance classes are also conducted inside the hall.
There are 2 basketball courts, one of which is located just opposite the Sun Kam Kee (formerly Hup Kee) Restaurant. For badminton enthusiasts, SJK © Yoke Nam, a primary school on Jalan Hujan Emas 6 provides a 5-court capacity hall for rent from 6pm to midnight, 6 days a week, excluding Sundays. For cyber gamers, there are also numerous cybercafes scattered around OUG.
There is also a woodball course directly opposite the MCA hall.

Shopping Malls

The Pearl Point Shopping Mall, Central Plaza, and OUG Plaza are the shopping highlights within the radius of Taman OUG. They are strategically located at the junction between Jalan Klang Lama and the main entrance connecting to Taman OUG. Through the slip roads which recently opened, the residents can also get to Endah Parade much faster. Within 10 to 15 minutes drive from Taman OUG is the much popular Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens (Kuala Lumpur) shopping malls. Since mid 2011, The Scott Garden, a 3-level high end lifestyle retail circle was opened along Jalan Klang Lama, adding to the hustle and bustle area leading to Taman OUG.

Major Neighbouring Districts

Two of the best-known neighbouring districts of Taman OUG are Sri Petaling and Bukit Jalil suburbs. Bukit Jalil is where the Technology Park Malaysia is located and many well-known IT companies are headquartered there. Also, the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, which hosted the 1998 Commonwealth Games is also located here. Furthermore, Taman OUG is located at a strategic location that it is very convenient to travel to many of the most well-known cities, towns, townships and suburbs within the Kuala Lumpur City Centre. It is roughly about 15 to 20 minutes casual drive away (via the Maju Expressway) to the Kuala Lumpur/Golden Triangle that is the city center, as well as to either major cities such as Subang Jaya or Petaling Jaya. Also, the KESAS Highway is linked to the exit of Taman OUG which makes it even more convenient if you wish to travel to the outskirts of KL city such as Putrajaya, Puchong, Cheras, Selangor, Klang, Malaysia and Shah Alam from Taman OUG.

I am agree with you. OUG is a very good place to stay at this moment. My wife's family are staying in that area too. I was thinking of buying a unit there but my wife said dont stay too close to her family, so we have no choice but choose Bandar Puchong Jaya as our love house. I like OUG as this is a "chinese area". It has alot of chinese shop and also market mostly selling chinese love items.

But OUG will no longer a "good" place to stay as WCT already bought a very big land just at the middle of OUG and Bukit Jalil. The people there will expect to be crowded in 3 to 5 years time. The developer will build a condominium there.

But location wise, I agree is very strategic.

1) Over 90% Chinese Residential Area. Undeniably the more Chinese there are, the wealthier an area is.

2) Nearby a lot of major highways, location situated strategically in middle of Klang Valley. With Bukit OUG going to have a LRT extension soon, Taman OUG benefits from it's ease of private transportation or public transportation.

3) Nearby Bukit Jalil and and Greenery Gardens. Bukit Jalil is one of the main concentration area by DBKL in KL development. Quoted from DBKL 2020 City Plan:

QUOTE
Bukit Jalil is designated as an International Zone and shall be developed as a high-class residential area. Development will build on the existing special attributes of the area especially the presence of major sports facilities and the area’s proximity to the MSC, the KLIA and the City Centre.

Emphasis will be placed on developing the district centre at Bukit Jalil and a new district centre shall be developed in Bukit Indah of Jalan Klang Lama.

As Taman OUG very near to Bukit Jalil and Taman Bukit Indah just beside it, it will benefits from DBKL city development plan.

4) This mature area got a lot of Primary and Secondary schools.

5) WCT has acquired approximately 60-acre of land in Taman OUG for a big scale development plan to build Giant Shopping Mall(aim to be bigger then Mid Valley and biggest in Bukit Jalil area), Hotels and High End Condos, so definitely Taman OUG will benefit from this big scale development.

Below are some statistic from DBKL 2020 City Plan:

Total Housing Needs, 2020

My 2 cents.

National / city council planning is important.
However, nowadays, it really depends on how the developers want to develop it as the authority always 'yes' to the project.
For Bukit Jalil, it is now have more and more condo building up and now we even have this 'Pavilion 2' by the Ho Hup group. sooner and later, the greenery will be gone.
