Nintendo's home console timeline (in the last 16 years or so):-
Wii U - latest/current generation (it is not a model of Wii) Wii - previous generation Gamecube - prior to Wii generation Nintendo 64 - prior to Gamecube generation as far as latest iteration of Wii, it seems like they have removed Gamecube backward compatibility. http://www.nintendo.com/wii/what-is-wii/#/tech-specs depending on the seller you buy from it may be an older iteration (older stock) so it may still have the GC support.
