A little out of topic, but relevant all the same. Best to avoid Assunta Medical Centre. Numerous complains including from my own friend very recently. I don't want to go into the details but it suffices to say that this place is extremely problematic.

I think depend on doc u choose.
I am with sjmc.
Each visit I paid 59 with no medication.
On 3rd trimester got urine test so there is lab charge total is 6x with no med.
I delivered with vaccumm extraction stay 2 nites about 5.1k.

The paed a bit expensive the follow up visit (2weeks) costs us 108 with no med

My wife doing check up at Sunway. Shorter queues (if go Saturday wait about half hour to one hour only.

Compared to SJMC. Some doctors have to wait a few hours. Friend goes to SJMC, takes number, have lunch, mebbe can watch movie, then only balik for checkup (and that's for a weekday!) But it's the super popular doctors like Tan Boon Nee

But sunway also have long queue doctors. Dr. Jason Lim. Apparently his charges are a bit cheaper. But line also very long.

My wife is with Dr. Wong Chin Yuan. Not bad. No complains so far. Can self do anomaly scan so that's good. Other doctors recommend do anomaly scan with other doctors or other hospitals. Approximate price about 300-500 I heard.

Will be doing the anomaly scan next month as part of next checkup. RM 90 consultation, RM80 for specialist fee + registration RM5, and other kelefeh stuff used RM15. + RM100 for 3D scan should be under 300.

But this doctor said the schedule to see him is once every 4-5 weeks. until 7 or 8th month I think. then it's 2 weeks once.. then closer to delivery date, every week. Very laid back.

My wife don't like SJMC feels very crowded, old and congested. Feels happier in Sunway. more like hotel. Parking easier to get also and can go shopping after that.

Pretty much at least for the major visits. Common colds and fever, I would visit a small clinic specialist. I guess I prefer a more personal touch of interaction with the doctor. You don't get it with big hospitals.

But major cases, yeah, like a near pneumonia case I had with one of my own, I definitely went to Sunway.

Thanks for the useful info. I also prefer to go sunway due to the environment much more better than sjmc whereby their fees have no difference..(I guess rolleyes.gif ) What's the working hour for check up? Wondering if I can go at night during weekday hmm.gif

I think their clinical hours are from 9 - 5 or 6 only. for weekdays and 9-1 for saturdays.

U will need to book in advance for your first visit and subsequent visits after that. Call up sunway hospital, say you want to speak to Dr. So and so. then they will put you to the receptionist. Then you make your appointment there.

The appointment you make is just for the date. U can go anytime from 9-5. then you take number from registration, then your file (if new they will make a file for you) and give to the doctor. The nurse will come and ask your wife to be weighed and mebbe pee. But I think only weigh for the first check up. then wait a bit more for the doctor to see you.

First time visit consultation fees usually cost about 150. Total will come up to about 240++ cause of any medication + registration + ultrasound + etc etc.
They will give you itemised billing so you can see how much everything costs + tax.

So don't be shocked when you get the first bill!

If you read up already you can get the supplements like obimin, lacto gg, neurogain, from pharmacies on sale may be cheaper. Or if you know some pharmacists that can give you discount. Sunway charged new obimin small bottle RM18, cheaper than some pharmacies. SO if not fussed you can just get supplements from there.

Subsequent checks are RM90 for consultation. 60 for ultrasound.

You can view the price lists or the private health care facilities in the PDF document so that you are not overcharged.

I guess it depends who you are comfortable with and convenient for you. My first visit paid only RM137 (consultation & ultra sound) @ SDMC...Taking my own Folic acid which can be purchased at any pharmacy outside.

Totally agree. My sis-in-law delivered her baby in Sunway MC and the nurses are very friendly and helpful.

Actually it SEEMS like the price is about the same.. but somehow the last bill at sunway seems to be higher than SDMC.

sunway medical is quite pricey. Most likely will not return for next baby.
