Hmmmm... might be good in the longer run, if his replacement is "better".
However, most of the base decisions that people flamed him for are already locked in game:
- Itemization being all numbers and not flavorful abilities
- Shallow storyline/presentation and brighter graphics/ambiance style
- Simple skill tree design style / lack of points etc
IMHO the best we can hope for with this change will be:
1) That the expansion will be saved; i.e. have more of the good stuff we wanted from D2 (and some of the stuff they mentioned early in dev then cut)
2) That any changes from now on will be to increase the fun factor of the game, e.g. faster MS / Buffing weaker skills / making more content / etc ... and not nerfing stuff.
People keep talking about "balance" like this game is a MMO. IMHO, balance and comparing classes is not as important as increasing the quality/depth and fun factor of the game.
Kripparian made a vid about PvP, and I totally agree with him: balanced often = boring.
